Holy fuck, this is EASILY the absolute best modern era soad show on youtube, BY FAR. Ive never seen serj use his old raspy voice this much and have this energy since they came back. This is genuinely 2002 levels, and better than the mezmerize era. Man am i glad i found this :DD Serj was insane on needles at 31:47. You can tell he was really into it when he does that scream xD
I was obsessed with soad a few months ago and Im just looking through my favorite performances, this concert is by far the best one post reunion in my opinion. I wish somebody make a serj scream compilation after they got back together
serj was fucking insane on the 2013 tour. he really did top nearly every 2005/2006 performance that year. it looked like they were all having a blast doing these shows. i guess when serj is happy he gives everything he's got. he is miserable today...
its especially tragic considering Daron's new Scars album was done by 2013. That album would've been perfect with a 2013 Serj on vocals. I mean, it's still great the way it is but man with Serj that record would've been magical..
Topped 2005 and 2006 performance ? Nah, 2006 was their absolute peak. They were insanely tight at that point, Serj's vocal height was in 2006, too (when it comes to metal singing). Oh, and don't bring up that one concert in 2006 where they sound "bad" because they did that on purpose. (Quotation marks on "bad" because even when they tried to sound bad back then, they still sounded amazing.)
Thats what I love about the 2013 tour, you can actually hear the power and grittiness in his screams, in 2018 he did the scream but faded it in a high note, which is pretty cool too but nothing beats a pure raw scream

I also saw them 2 days ago and they didn't have this much energy, very less screams by Serj but it was still a very good concert. Love them!
Oh my God, you were there?? This might have been the best System of a Down concert ever since 2003. Seriously, this show should become a classic. Serj was phenomenal in the 2013 tour, both in energy and vocals. I think that Berlin along with Hollywood Bowl and Reading Festival 2013 were the highlights of a nearly perfect tour. You were so damn lucky to have been there. You saw the BEST show, of the BEST tour. Dude, I envy you. I wish I could time travel back then, in 2013.
Thank you! Yeah, I live in Germany so I traveled to Berlin to see them. I didn't take any photos or videos, just enjoyed the show in almost front row. There were no general admission tickets or anything like that, you could just go down the stairs straight into the crowd. Pretty rare these days. In Hamburg, a couple of weeks ago, I had seat tickets for the System show and I couldn't see shit, so I jumped over the barrier and ran into the crowd. Best decision that evening! But this concert didn't reach the awesomeness of 2013. I think Serj will never go back to is old vocal style. It's been 12 years now I think and since 2003 he began to sing in a different style, less screams, more clean/nasal vocals.. and since 2005 he adopted that voice that everyone complais about right now.. But I kinda like it. His vocal range now is phenomenal, just watch Chop Suey from KROQQ 2014. :)
I've seen the KROQ 2014 performance, and in my opinion it wasa pretty bad show. Serj's voice was really nasal that day. Everyone complains about his voice today, you are right, but that's what i am saying, in 2013 he was singing a lot like his old style, constantly screaming, and droping the nasal voice quite often. You saw an infinitely times better Chop Suey performance in Berlin 2013, than the KROQ one :)
I agree with that. For some reason in 2013, Serj had so much energy and it's so fun to rewatch that concert. I didn't watch the whole KROQQ concert, but that part in chop suey where he sings "trust... in... my... self righteous suicide.. I cry..." and so on.. I can't remember him singing it in that way like he did on that evening. Pretty awesome! But yeah, I just looked the whole concert up, his voice sounds very nasal. And the mixing is also pretty bad...
It's obvious that he was very into that tour. I don't know why. Maybe he was in a happy place in his life at that period. He was also pretty good in 2015, not as good as 2013, but very decent. He also seemed to have fun in the 2015 tour as well. It's evident this year that he isn't enjoying this tour very much, and that's why he gives bad shows. He also got sick, so that didn't help. He even admited in a Rolling Stone interview about Chris Cornell, that he is a bit bored doing these shows for another year...
Ohh I just got it right now why Serj was good in A.D.D. If u look at it, he pissed off because one of the soundenginer fucked up his mic before he want to yell the "NANANANANA" part 58:13. After that Serj screamed "MotherF*cker" maybe it wasn'T for the audience 58:47 Then kicked the micstand before the end of the song. 59:06 And you can know how many times Serj was angry about something went wrong in stage. Soo after this Question? mistake he just go fucking nuts.
Damn, looking back Serj really was on fire and had energy in 2013, especially compared to 2019 and such. Hope the new songs will give him some fresh drive, it breaks my heart to see him standing around bored on stage performing those legendary masterpieces...

The depressing thing about 2013 Serj is he was clearly vocally ready for a new SOAD album, but Daron wasn't ready to give up his songwriting. Serj wasn't going to do the singing over someone elses music thing again.
