Minnesota here. I did my wife's truck this past weekend using ONR for the first time too. Same. It made me nervous as hell, but I had to believe the professionals on this and I'm glad I did.
I use ONR for my mobile business. Throw one gallon of water in a bucket and a few super plush towels, then I fill a 2 gallon sprayer with ONR, and a bottle of power clean to degrease tires or remove bugs. With those 3 gallons I can wash about 3 cars including using it to rinse down the wheels after using power clean. I actually prefer a chenille mitt for washing-but the towels let me keep my bucket clean 🤷🏼♂️ also, using a larger pump sprayer so you can really soak down and rinse the panels, you can easily get around an average Sedan with 1-2 towels. With the other heavy hitter on the market ONR may not have the “best” dilutions but we’re taking less than a dollar difference in dilutions. UBS works just fine as well, I just find it works *better* on protected or previously ONR washed vehicles. Would recommend the ultra wash pad/mitt over the Cyclone pads (TRC recommends that as well) the cyclones due to their 70/30 blend actually leave the panel too dry after a pass and make it more difficult to dry without re wettting the surface.
You guys are always awesome thank you for doing this. I tell people I use ONR to wash my car regardless of the contamination level of the surface and some people dont believe it works even when used properly. Currently washing it with salt and other junk on the surface of my black car in the garage and have yet to see a swirl or scratch mark from it. Just rinse it with some diluted onr or a hose first and wash as normal. Super easy
Rinseless means you dont have to rinse after..its crazy how so many people think you dont need to rinse a dirty car or truck like this beforehand when using a rinseless wash..i get if you cant or its in the dead of winter with frozen water lines..IK sprayer worked great.. but it doesnt matter if ONR or a 2 bucket soap method is used, a power washer should be used on a dirty truck like this..spray with ONR solution, power wash the dirt off then use the ONR solution in the bucket with your preferred wash media.
@sacredpredictions3302 I CHANGED MY MIND YALL been doing rinseless for months now.. only time regular soap is better is if it's a really contaminated vehicle.. but I literally wish mine the second I see any dirt or too much dust so rinseless is perfect for me.
I just did my salt stained car with ONR. When I came inside and went on RUclips this video was recommended so of course I had to watch it. I used the ONR the same way you did. Great result. What a great way to wash our vehicles!
Thanks Levi for re-highlighting ONR and its capabilities to clean and remove dirt from a car without much effort and use of water. I feel that ONR has been pushed to the rear over the past few years as many new products keep coming on the market. Ozz
I've had great success using multiple towels, that way there is no way to contaminate the solution. Also multiple wash mitts - big laundry afterwards, but ONR is fantastic!!
Well I was a bit skeptical on this but oh my , I found the solution to my no garage, no water, no pressure washer problem. I use this on a sedan that had not been washed properly for a month and suffered dust, heavy rain and the grime was baked due to the hot Greek Summer. What an unexpected result was that. Ι followed the spray first and wash afterwards with a microfiber mitt and dried with a bit of beadmaker. Standard dilution. Thank you guys for sharing the knowledge.
I used ONR this winter several times... pressure washing at the car wash first, then driving home and doing a rinseless wash with three gallons of distilled water and three capfuls of ONR. Each car that was washed this way(several times) shows no new scratches or any form of marring. I like using Obsessed Garage's drying aid with a gauntlet towel. Works like a charm! Thanks, Levi!
Nicely done. Timely information just when we need it. I love the way TRC teaches without selling, informs without hype, and entertains without gimmicks. All this, and top-notch production quality unmatched in this niche. This video is the kind of gift that makes me want to order from TRC - to say thank you and “keep it coming!” The products and support are excellent, too.
I love ONR! As the owner of a dark colored car, keeping it clean is a pain. I wash all year with it in WI and being able to wash in my heated garage during winter is fantastic. Tip: squeezing your sponge/rag over each panel before wiping helps minimize scratches and will rinse a ton of dirt off before washing.
Just a fantastic video. I love how you emphasize that it's a skill to develop and learn. I've gone all rinseless with my detailing and I love it. I definitely use less water. I'm putting in a greater level of attention to detail and care and I tend to get to know the customer's cars really well.
Unless my Accord is only very slightly dirty, I always pre-treat using a pump-up sprayer. Depending on how dirty it is I will use ONR, ONR Wash & Wax, or sometimes Opti-Clean in the winter months. It works great.
I’ve been a believer since I first used it. Was I skeptical at first? Heck yeah! I like that you can use warm (well, room temp distilled) water in the garage in the wintertime. I’ll prespray the whole vehicle, then come back and reapply and wash with the LBS. Using y’all’s towels to dry, perfect!
This is my go to .... been doing it since I started 7 yrs ago. Ive used this to clean commercial rigs with hella dirt n grease. Using it with other chemicals as well. Great vid
Lmao Levi straight up admits that the traditional wash would be most appropriate for these conditions, he’s literally just making the videos to “push the limits” you dunce
@@jpmcfrosty You do understand there are things you can do before using ONR. For example when I get a vehicle this dirty I use a pressure washer and a prewash. It's like I am an adult who can look at a situation and adapt to it. But keep raging sad man.
I will always believe you and Anthony and Brian at Apex before most other professional detailers. You guys are legit!!! MAD RESPECT FROM EAST LONG BEACH 💯
It’s actually nice to see ONR being used on a dirty vehicle. Many of these ONR videos start with a clean car, which is kinda pointless. A great video showing how a great product can achieve great results!
The worx hydroshot really is incredible for this. Can mix up a five gallon bucket with hot water, work my way around the vehicle blasting off 90% of the crud, and pulling it into the garage (or continuing outside if it’s a warmer day in winter) to finish up with a few towels in the same bucket. I actually seldom ever use traditional car soap, just because things like ONR and N914 can just be dried straight away without the need for a drying aid. I will say I think rinseless products really shine when combined with a pressure washer. Traditional car soap just seems so archaic to me.
The first time I bought ONR I wasn't sure what I got myself into but then I finally tried it. Call me crazy but I use it before the main wash on my daily driver to knock down the gunk. I prefer to keep 10 gallons of distilled water on hand and 10 gallons ready to go for my Hydroshot since I do the majority of my washes at my apartment. One of those would be great for cleaning out the wheel well liners during the winter!
@@Mamba116 I have access to a hose and pressure washer and foam cannon yet i still went back to ONR. Man it is annoying always chasing water spots, tryna keep the car wet or full of soap so it doesnt dry, walking around the car multiple times with and without the pressure washer hose, getting tangled, getting legs and feet wet from soap and water..etc..list goes on. 30 mins with ONR and a few supplies and im done on my big car.
I use ONR on weekly basis to do maintenance wash in the garage, really easy and quick. One recommendation is , make sure u have a really good drying towel to wipe it off and follow by a leave blower. I've got a big dually 4x4, black paint, much like that one. It's a big vehicle. Even on a warm cloudy day, I have a hard time getting around the vehicle with a foam cannon, washing with a mitt and getting to the rinse cycle before the soapy solution starts to dry on the paint, leaving water spots. I gotta try this rinseless wash solution, both for quickness, and ease of use. Generally speaking the truck get's dirty from rain and road grime. I don't go mudding or anything like that. It would be nice to be able to do a rinseless wash in my garage at high noon. I don't think I'd do a rinseless if it was that dirty. just because grit. I'd at least pressure wash the heavy stuff off outside before proceeding with the rinseless wash inside the garage. But it's nice to know that I probably could if I had to. I've been reading about the versatility of ONR . It's probably time to get some and try it out.
I used griots garage rinseless wash with 2 bucket plus wash mitts and have yet to see any scratches on my customers vehicles. I'm definitely going to try onr after seeing this video. Thanks for sharing!
Great informative video, as an additional precautionary method I take about 5-6 microfiber towels and soak them in the bucket. I use 1 towel per panel and put the used towels in a separate bucket. This further minimizes any possible scratching. ONR is extremely versatile.

You can get a lot more "right times" for rinseless with a battery powered back pack sprayer. Check out the My4Sons M4. I have the lion battery and the 100 psi pump. With a tank (4 gallon) or two you can knock off most salt and debris with just tap water, then make up your ONR batch and wet down the whole vehicle in a few minutes. surprising that many more mobile detailers aren't taking advantage of these sprayers to bump up their winter work calendars.
It's amazing I have seen all the claims optimum makes about onr first hand a dirty bucket will be clean in 15 minutes and the dirt just encapsulates into a bubble
I have not had much success with heavily soiled surfaces even with pre treating by trying to dispell the dirt with a lower pressure cordless pressure washer. It works ok in those situations but I feel like I need two passes in those situations.
Coming from the uk, this vehicle looks like a tank! I get tired washing my car and I think it’s big. (Tiguan) I would have to take a nap in the back if I was washing the tank!
I am using a industrial dry steam cleaner which is specially designed for the car wash industry. It’s quite capable of removing dirt even on dirtier cars. However, I was using a alkaline prewasher in order to save time and make the washing more smooth and safe for the surface - exactly the way you did it in the video. Anyway, maybe I could try this ONR instead of the product I am using (Green Star from KC) just for a comparison
I'd like to see a clear bucket before/during/after the process to confirm that the ONR is in fact pulling the dirt to the bottom. I just thought of the idea, not hating on the product, I use it, but just thought it'd be cool to see and confirm.
Question...rather belated.....is there any advantage to house down the car after the initial ONR spray ??? Been using ONR since 2011 and if my cars get really filthy (like that truck) l use a foamer prior to the ONR wash. l'd feel safer if l house down the car in this instance
So many rinseless washes out there. I have use ONR and many of them. It’s a good product. I will say when I used it, the dirt didn’t go all the way down to the bucket. But I use the multiple towel method so I don’t have to worry about dirt or girt guards. I have just found better IMO rinseless washes I like better N914 and American detailer garage wipeout. Do I still use OnR? Yeah it’s good but I just like others better.
Just used ONR to do a quick clean up of my car for a sunny day. Oh man this stuff just makes cleaning a breeze. My car is ceramic coated so I was able to get my car to that 90ish percent clean and show off that clean polished ceramic coated boost blue paint. Does ONR work well with bead maker after cleaning Or should I save the bead maker for traditional car washes?
I am using ONR and as a drying aid I tried Instant Detailer & Gloss on a car and Car Wax on another car but in both cases the cars were full of dust after a few hours because the body attracts it. In drying I used 1500 twisted by TheRag and Everest by TheRag. Is this dust problem the consequence of my application error or is it a problem already encountered?
In my experience (not a professional) ONR seems to encapsulate better where N-914 just sits flat. Seems to me that people like N-914 because it is a slicker feel. It’s more soap like. To me, ONR seems to pickup and encapsulate above the surface better so it feels safer especially when it’s more than dust. I’ve tried both and prefer ONR.
I’ve used a ton of rinseless products, and I’ll say that it comes down to your process. If you constantly presoak with the product you’re washing with - you’ll likely notice that all the products work the same for the most part aside from small things. Slickness under the towel, perceived gloss, maybe added protection. I like ONR. It smells good, and works well. I also like N914 for its increased versatility over ONR, and it smells stellar. Wolfgang Uber rinseless, in my opinion, is the cream of the crop as far as the rinseless experience goes. Slick under the wash towel and leaves a nice slick surface after drying. Honorable mentions include ultimate waterless wash + diluted as a rinseless and griots garage waterless wash and wax (if you don’t rock a coating) if you want an all in one easy solution. If washing in fair weather and rinsing the car quickly with a pressure washer - literally any reputable rinseless will serve you well.
Can you guys explain to me the difference between Optimum No Rinse and Shine, like you’re using and Optimum No Rinse and Wax? I’ve seen the ONR and Wax on Amazon and I am just wondering if they’re different in any way. Thank you.
Great stuff! I’m newbie and in London, UK. I wanna start a detailing business mainly using rinseless washing. To all you professionals here, I struggle to decide pricing, please help?

why is no one talking about adding ONR to their water tanks .. running through the pressure washer ? Its game changing ! try it
So many rinseless washes out there.
Can/should you use onr under the hood?
could you use a foam sprayer? or you think it wouldn’t help
is ONR an ideal maintenance wash for a ceramic coated vehicle?
How many ounces of ONR did you put in the pump sprayer?
Onr is the best
for got to ask , will ONR work with reg. tap water or is it just with distilled / filtered ? thanks again for your help !
I have a question why is it that when I used onr the dirt stayed on top
Not all dirt will flocculate to the bottom same as not all dirt will encapsulate, its alot of overestimating and overhyping rinseless capabilities.
if it pulls dirt down to the bottom, why not add a little bit to your foam canon with other shampoos like rest or gentle snow foam?
ONR would kill the suds and many people won’t like that.
@@jayhoughton558 Appreciate it, Jay!
Does anyone know if mckees n-914 is similar enough to onr to have similar results?
@@stevensparks19 thanks for the answer, I’m hoping that I can wash in nice weather soon. New York winters are annoying
@@jayhoughton558 thanks for the perspective!
Yes it can.
Can you guys explain to me the difference between Optimum No Rinse and Shine, like you’re using and Optimum No Rinse and Wax? I’ve seen the ONR and Wax on Amazon and I am just wondering if they’re different in any way. Thank you.
Thanks so much for the reply. Appreciate it.
Great stuff! I’m newbie and in London, UK. I wanna start a detailing business mainly using rinseless washing.
To all you professionals here, I struggle to decide pricing, please help?
