Happy 3rd Boataversary you two! 🎉 Rhapsody In Blue celebrated with a spa day in the sudsy lock! I love the bow views of her slicing through the water. The intricate brick work on bridge 82 Salt Bridge is simply amazing, that had to take a long time to complete, it’s obvious they took pride in their work. That was the best footage of a Kingfisher I’ve seen Julie! Just breathe Martin, you’ll make it through Harecastle tunnel just fine!🤗 Looking forward to your next adventures. 😃❤️
A delightful trip was had by all. How lovely that was and Wedgewood was a bonus which you got just perfect, not too much, which can get boring. The pub food looked delicious, was it? Describe it sometimes as we all like a good feed of good food. You met some lovely dogs on your way how nice it all was!
I loved this nice long vlog! It was fun visiting Wedgwood with you! I went to the factory in the summer of 1977 and picked up a couple of gifts for my parents. Now that they’re gone, I have the necklace that I gave my mother and the glass paperweight that I gave my father. I must say that one bridge with the special tiered brickwork was incredible! And as usual the reflections were beautiful! Thanks again for sharing your journeys and your daily life with us! You guys are extra special! ❤
Yes it is so nice when you do your videos when the sun is out for you. I do think that your narrowboat is the best on the locks . And you two as well .
Hahaha 🤣 don’t know what you mean Alan 😜🤣 Knew you’d like the kingfisher, he was there for ages! Still haven’t managed to get one with a fish yet though, see you tomorrow! xx
Another lovely journey. Martin was on form this week, posing and joking. You are both lovely, and I enjoy your relationship banter as much as the videos. Merry Christmas Julia and Martin. 🎄🧑🎄🤗
Hi guys I follow and watch quite a few continuous cruisers and I must say that Rhapsody in Blue is definitely the best kept boat that you should be proud of well done 👍
The scenery is so beautiful. The kingfishers are just so sassy. They are such pretty little birds. Wedgewood was fascinating. I was suprised to see you yesterday. Take care. Cindy in Oklahoma
In the late 1980’s my mother was visiting from NZ & we took her on a 2-week canal cruise. Never a fan of watery things I still don’t know if she enjoyed it. We were in one of the Wich’s (can’t now remember if it was Nant or Droit) & I went to a great deal of trouble to organise taxis to & from the Wedgwood site, as an off-boat treat for Mum who had been a china buyer in her day. I can’t now work out how on earth I did it - no cellphones, ubers, google in those days! Mum was never known for being gracious & didn’t ever thank me or express appreciation. I however treasure the small knick knack we bought that day, and the memory of course.
Yes, it’s all about making memories isn’t it, I’m sure your Mum appreciated it, even if she didn’t say so, that’s a lovely thing you did and like you say, back in the 80s would have been quite a task! Thanks Barbara! xx
Happy Boat-a-versary! What a lovely vlog. Thank you for the bonus vlog this week 😊. It has been especially nice to see the vlogs over the last few weeks as you have been traveling in the area we traveled last April while on vacation (holiday). Have a wonderful week!
Hi guys, those houses along the canal were amazing and that one with the private mooring was stunning. As usual the scenery, beautiful wildlife and the wonderful history of the canal is so interesting. When I heard the name Wedgwood I wondered if it had anything to do with the pottery, we have some here past down through my wife Juliet's family. We have it in a display cabinet with a collection of old country roses Royal Albert bone china another pass down from Juliet's mum. Not exactly our cup of tea pardon the pun. As you say not the type of thing you take on a canal boat or if you are living a no clutter life exploring, but it's beautiful to look at and we just don't have the heart to sell it on. We wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas and a happy new year. And I would like to thank you both for all your hard work putting these videos together, they are very much appreciated and such a joy to see in my inbox each week. Stay safe.👍🏻👍🏻❤❤
Hi Geoff, that little kingfisher was so beautiful wasn’t he! Wedgwood was fascinating and such beautiful stuff, not practical for living on a boat mind lol. Take care of your pieces, I expect they will be quite valuable now! Have a lovely Christmas Geoff! xx
How great to get an extra video from you in themiddle of te week and a longer one at that. You even got the sun out on your three year mark, how lovely. Lots of love to yo from your listening subscriber, I am a woman who is blind and I am enjoying the sounds your interesting and detailed descriptions. Lots of love to you.
Hi there, so glad you are enjoying our videos and my narration. I’m sorry if we have ever made you jump with the loud hooter, I used to put a warning across the screen, but if we include the hooter from now on I will always speak a warning of it coming up. Thank you so much, have a lovely week! xx (sorry, we don’t know your name)
The surprise hill after bridge 81 was so good..I reacted in time with you :) Very pretty things to see along that canal so far. No way you can have Wedgewood on the boat but my feelings wouldn't be hurt if you sent some to Florida for Christmas 😁
Beautiful area. It was lovely to see the autumn colours again but I’m glad you’re catching up with the videos again. How do you decide where you want to spend the winter? Do you coordinate with friends etc or just somewhere you fancy? I hood you’re having a great week xx
Hi Mishka, we decided earlier in the year where we wanted to go for winter, we already know next year’s plans too lol. Sometimes we’ll meet up with friends by chance if they happen to be on the same canal, but we love to make new friends, we love the boating community, especially in winter! Thanks Mishka! xx
Hi Julie and Martin, how fabulous seeing a video on a Monday and I loved seeing Stone, I know it so well so it was really nice seeing it from the canal as well as your walk around. The Wedgwood museum looked interesting, I must admit I have never been myself. Already looking forward to your next video, love and best wishes
Hi Edward, yes only this week, it’ll be back to one a week next week lol. A usual vlog on Thursday and then it’ll be one on Boxing Day! Thank you so much Edward! xx
Another great vlog! Loving those beautiful bridges! And so many pubs along the way! Hope you got to visit some too! The Wedgewood would be too heavy on the boat anyway!😜 ❤🎉
Wedgwood is so interesting. Like you I just think of the blue Wedgwood but they did so many other things. Wedgwood and Waterford are so beautiful. Glad you were able to get a table at the pub and enjoyed it. Sounds like it is a busy place. ❤
The Wedgwood is so beautiful, but sadly not practical living on a boat! The food was lovely, all freshly made and very tasty! So pleased you w joyed this extra video Dorothy, thank you! xx
Julie, we understand that the lock volunteers are just that, volunteers, which means they are not paid, correct? What about the actual CRT workers that are often observed working on the canals at various times? Are they paid to work?
Great video as always thanks. Wedgewood looked a really interesting place. That kingfisher! Only been lucky enough to see 2 so far and def not in such close proximity or for as long - awesome. Lots of love. Kerty, Colin and Alfie. NB Time to Pootle xx

Hi Julie and Martin was good to see you by western lock with daisy. I walk all over the canal network with daisy live in handsacre by the crown pub. I had parked in the saracens head car park in western and was walking down to bridge 78 and I recognised you both. Finished the walk back at the pub for a coffee and a bowl of chips.looking forward to the program on channel four . Lovely videos take care both Paul and daisy
I just so love watching your beautiful adventures it’s so calming. I did have a question: Did you two already know how to operate the locks and understand boating prior? You are such a pro at it and understand boat operations. ❤ Anne from US
Hi Anne, no, we had only really known guillotine locks on the rivers, so this was all new to us 3 years ago. But once you’ve done a couple of locks it’s surprising how you pick it up. Although saying that, we are learning everyday, there’s always someone with tips and advice for different situations, always good learning new stuff! So pleased you’re enjoying our little videos! xx

They wanted to film us going through Harecastle tunnel, but we had to get there by a certain date, so we rushed going there, ended up doing a lot more journeys and each journey is a weeks vlog. So instead of cruising and staying at a mooring for a few days at a time, we cruised, then cruised the next day, then the next etc, so have ended up with a lot to catch up on. Hi Julie and Martin,
Another interesting episode, with fantastic shots of the kingfisher. The food looked good in the pub. It was good to have 2 videos in 5 days, but here's a word of warning, this Government will instruct RUclips to shut your Chanel down if you start trimming your bush and having a bang in a lock. Hi guys. Have enjoyed watching your vlogs and have been subscribed for a long time now. I just wondered why you are so behind as this was September and we are mid December?
By the way a beautiful shot of the kingfisher.

Hi Sally, I use both iMovie and RUclips music, I’m glad you like the music, thank you! xx
