It got to the point where regulate gasoline and diesel are the same price. Does that sound self-sufficient to you? Do you think your president, whose whole platform on Saudi Arabia was to shun them, would fly to the country himself and meet with the Crown Prince himself just because he was bored? No, those are the actions of someone desperate for help. Not even Biden's releasing of oil from your reserves brought the prices down.
Here's the reality: the peak of the US has already passed. Some may argue about when it was, but the only thing you can't argue about is that it was in the past. From here on, the only place the US can go is down, but as for Saudi Arabia, well they're in their peak right now and every year they reach a new peak, something the US isn't even dreaming of, so the trajectory shown the only place Saudi Arabia is going is up.

So regardless of how they run their country there is a mutually beneficial relationship with the west. This is how the world works. You can keep your ideals to yourself because this is a global economy so regardless if you like kings, communism, dictators, none of it matters because everyone brings something to the party
