The Smallies near me seem to LOVE anything with purple in it. Good stuff, Matt! Duke is gonna get a kick outta this episode in the not too distant future! Lol THANKS!
Always appreciate a good swimjig video and one of my favorite thing to fish! Fish in my waters really hit the shad pattern, I made up some white ones with few strand's of green pumpkin and purple in the skirt and has quickly became a must have ever time I head to the water
I think it's important to narrow down you color choices whenever possible. It was great that you went over why you chose each color and where you use that color. Water color, forage and what type of cover you are fishing, are the keys to making the right choice.
I love & use the choice's you mentioned. On the east coast "VA & GA" I found that brown and orange late March and early April works well for what ever reason. I tie my one jigs and it was something I thought I'd try. So if your out east give it a try.
I liked that you included the black/blue & purple color. There’s something about a little purple in a lure that works for me in varying water colors & clarity. I have never tried a swim jig, but I’m game now. Thanks Matt! 👍🏼🎣😎
The spot killer color is my favorite down here in N GA. I mainly use the finesse swim jig with a 3.5 inch keitech easy shiner trailer. I think the color is accurately named.
Great info! Best kept secret are Arkie Lures Bucktail Jigs. Noting comes close to those hand tied beauties. Lots of colors and they catch fish, ALL the fish!
I'm going to start using these swim jigs more, these are some great colors especially the spot killer for those spots & smallies, one time I threw a black&blue swim jig with a white swim bait trailer & got a bass, that sprayed grass looks really good, I know your on the road be careful, hope you bring home a 🏆
Excellent video and info as always! Fishing a swim jig near me has always been a rough go but definite going to give a few of those a try and the one with purple for sure. I noticed that had a trailer with a chartreuse tail. How about a video when you dip a tail and when you don’t and what colors you use when you do? Keep up the great content! Good Luck at Sam Rayburn!
Great video, I mostly use lethal weapon swim jigs and they make a color called "perch" that i really like, I think its a good perch or gill color depending on the trailer. Other than that its pretty much white, white/chart, green pumpkin and black and blue. Do you not trim your weed guards? I noticed they weren't trimmed on the jigs you showed that had been fished. I trim some but softer guards I generally just leave full.
Shout out the reel shot. Was looking for a lews lfs in a 8.5. Sold out everywhere - remembered the reel shot from your video and went and looked and they had six. Of course used code Stefan10. Great video Matt
Thank you for the video! I’m really trying to fish swim jigs more. What are the weights and setups that you used at Smith and Martin. Also how were you retrieving the swim jig? Thanks
15 lb fluor carbon 3/8 oz bluegill colored dirty jigs swimjig with a green pumpkin chartreuse tail berkley the deal. go back and watch my tournament recap to see how i was fishing it
Hey Matt, I love how you keep giving the people what they want with these videos, I really stand behind Randy when he said you deserve the accolades of RUclips channel of the year. I saw Wes Logan talk about how his secret is using a Green Pumpkin flash trailer on a swim jig in the fall with the shad spawn because how the flakes imitate a ball of shad and when a bass gets close enough it will try to inhale it all at once. You think there’s any truth behind that?
This was good. This is the year I want to learn to fish with skirted jigs. What sizes do you recommend? Can you do a video on how you fish them? Thanks for all your help.
I’ve been throwing a swim jig and a jerk bait every time lately so I can get use to them and comfortable I’m in north Georgia 5 min from Lanier near Dahlonega Ga
Matt, just wondering when tying jigs (flipping/casting), how many strips of rubber do you use? Or more specifically, how many STRANDS do you want on a jig? And, when tying a two tone jig like black/blue, how many strands of the accent color vs. the main color do you prefer? Thanks and keep up the awesome info!
Idk why but white/grey. Blk/gry swim jigs are the only color i catch giants on in NJ i cant buy a bite on Gp probably because the waters always dirty Idk. Thanks Matt love the vids
I don't really fish a swim jig much but i am still waiting on my first bite. Do you just throw them out and let sink to the bottom and then reel back slowly?
Les say you have a no jacked swim jigs ( Tim and Matt) with 4.8 Kaitech and a solid fluro carbon lead , did you ever had success with musky ? I have a part of my river with mostly Musky ‘s et walleye and just like 👍 to go with swim jigs , i like them almost 😅 as jerkbait…. Almost ! 😎
It amazes me sometimes how well swim jigs produce fish. I have been catching them well in very heavily pressured lakes and I can't really figure out why.
I like the dirty jigs swim jig the best but, I like 6th sense's color schemes. Well- I like Spot Killer for a shad pattern but, 6th sense has some amazing bluegill patterns man- dark water gill, Baby Bream, Bluegill fire, green pumpkin black- all really good bluegill colors. Mega Bass has the best golden shiner I've ever seen- beautiful color scheme. But as far as the jig goes and the quality of build and all that- Dirty Jigs wins it hands down. I need to buy their jigs and then get some skirt materials and build my own bluegill patterns.
@@MattStefanFishing Could not find it in replacement skirts either. Let me know what you find out. Oh, thanks for the great content and good luck in your tournament.
Bass fishing logic says the Tacticool Shad is the best color. I myself used to think so too. Not no more. True bass fishers know the best color is a variation of this. Not going to go through my selections but gonna have to disagree with many of these. As far as low light in depth or dark water, black and blue is correct. That's the color that will be seen best. Keep in mind I don't fish swim jigs. I do swim jigs tho.
Hi Matt, thanks for the great videos. I saw your discontinued lure video. I may have a dozen you are interested in. Feel free to shoot me a msg if interested. I don't collect, so I'm willing to sell.
you can shoot me an email through the contact page at www.mattstefanfishing.com with a list of what you have and the prices and ill maybe take them off your hands.

Haha!
Nice! Thank you Matt. Don’t use swim jigs much, but I will now!! Fish on!
Love throwing the swim jig... I really like to Spot killer and the Sprayed grass both colors have worked well for me.
Both are great colors
I got to try fishing more jigs once this Illinois weather gets warmer

Will do!
You are killing it Matt!! Keep it up but don't forget family (meaning they may want you to slow down)We will continue to watch it. Love the content.
thanks!
I just started messing with swim jigs a little this year. Looking forward to trying it some more this coming year. Hopefully with some success.
Good luck

Every time you make a lure or tackle selection i go and buy them! My basement wall is going to look like yours soon enough😛
Good luck this weekend!
Better late then never Matt. Great video, I uses the swim jig all the time. Definitely be checking some of them out
Thanks for the color types!!👊🏻 Stay Safe & God Bless!!!!
Best of luck this week Matt!
Nice choice of colors and the reason why they have worked for you. I enjoyed the video.
Thanks Matt for another awesome video i really enjoy swim jigs i always have one tied on what Weight of jig do you prefer 1/4 3/8 1/2 oz 🙏
I got 2 great swim jigs from you, Matt. Thanks again
Glad you like them!

Giving out the juice again! Spot killer is the deal!
We don't have golden shiners around my area of the state but the bass do love that moonshiner color.
yes they do!
Great info Matt....Thanks
thanks!
Gp chartreuse is my favorite yum dinger color it always works

🤔 The Spotkiller and Moonshiner look like a couple worth picking up and would probably do some damage on my water, thanks for the suggestions!
Catch’em everywhere
Solid colors! Mine is Junebug/River special (Potomac) /white/ black and blue
The most relatable part of this video was the very end 😂😂…… great content as always
Great colors Matt. Black and purple works well here in the PNW, especially in the winter time. Thanks for the video. 🎣✌🏻

I love Swimjigs!!! Lol I always have some Dirty jigs on me man. Sweet colors and awesome vid brotha 👍
The swim jig is my favorite
My favorite swim jig color from dirty jigs is bluegill. Northern Indiana guy, and that color kills it in the natural lakes up here.
Congrats
Love your videos Matt, short sweet educational and to the point, keep up the great work.
Nigel (Chicago) 👍👍👍
Matt, what trailer and color do you use on the Tactical Shad? I hope all is going well at Rayburn.
pearl white s.5 berkley the deal
What kind of trailer would you have used if you don't mind I notice they wasn't one for that one
i like the Berkley The Deal
Another great Dirty Jigs color in dark water is Hematoma and you can never miss on good old white.
yep!
I’ve been throwing a swim jig and a jerk bait every time lately so I can get use to them and comfortable I’m in north Georgia 5 min from Lanier near Dahlonega Ga

Wow how crazy I’ve been to the reel shot I was doing a move in Appleton. Thx sir for the 10% off much appreciated!
yep!
Do you fish the Dirty Jigs California Swim Jig?
Great videos, keep it up!
I do! and did this video ruclips.net/video/sezX4cqG7YI/видео.html

i usually use two full tabs of skirt material per jig. Ill use just 3 or 4 strands of accent color
@@MattStefanFishing thanks for replying and the info. Love your channel, super informative. Love it when your little helpers make an appearance.

Just started making hair swim jigs hoping it’s something different than others around me
Is there another name for the sprayed grass color? I can't seem to find that color
hmmm it may have been removed from the site.
Off topic excuse me, but curious if you use any fishing apps available now?
Ive been working with the fish the moment app Deep Dive and its quite amazing!
Do you throw any drt swimbaits?
I haven’t
How do you use different weights? I tend to lean on 1/4oz the most.
3/8 is my go to
@@MattStefanFishing Thank you!
I don't really fish a swim jig much but i am still waiting on my first bite. Do you just throw them out and let sink to the bottom and then reel back slowly?
i do everything with it...just depends on the cover
Think spinner bait
I think he was practicing his get the net scream..lol BIG'N

i catch musky all the time on a swim jig on my river.

Can’t seem to find Sprayed Grass as a swim jig color on TW or Dirty Jigs sites. Called something else?
Hmm i hope they didn’t discontinue it

Is the second one really sprayed grass? Does dirty jogs have sprayed grass?
looks like they discontinued it...im lucky i got a bunch of them
Dammm! I just asked the same thing. I'm thinking bout trying that dill gill tho. Looks relatively similar
I just checked on tackle warehouse and I can’t find the dirty jigs swim jig in sprayed grass. Is it a different name?
they can be hard to find
@@MattStefanFishing I’m definitely going to be on the lookout now. Sprayed grass is one of my favorites. That and junebug or bama bug.
Would you fish a swim jig as deep as you fish swim baits. 15-20ft deep🤷
Yep
Great Matt. Hope your shaking a lot off.
Dirty Jigs for life!! Lol. I just get bit on them
Me too!
What you throwing them on?
15 lb fluorocarbon!
I couldn’t find sprayed grass on their site?

I'm looking at TW's Dirty Jigs Finesse Swim Jig colors.
