Free advice from an A&P. Check your timing. Particularly your left mag with the impulse coupling. I can't think of any way to have a kickback except firing before top dead center. It's most likely your internal mag timing , mag to engine timing or a worn impulse coupler.
Thank you for the advice! These are 2 Pmags I checked the wiring too. Since this incident I did the 100 hours check and took them both out for inspection
Are your pmags timed after TDC? I put mine 2 degrees after and just added an advance shift so it still runs at the same timing. I got 2 pmags on a one design too, with an io-390 10:1 Broke a starter Also if theyre old pmags they might be susceptable to re timing themselves if you ever crank with the ignition power on but the ignition p lead switches off.
They fixed this with a software update to cancel setup mode as soon as the prop moves. Prior to that it was in setup mode and pulses on the map line could make it set timing.
I always turn on p lead switches as the first step before start. Got a whirlwind 200c prop and prop always stops on first crank unless battery has just been on charge so i have every other condition you mentioned and no kickbacks in the last 400 hours, so id say time slightly after tdc will fix your problem roy
Tip for the filter. Ive got exactly the same setup. If you get a sharp tool and punch a hole in the top of the filter and leave the filter for a few hours all oil will drain out.
@RoyBenAnat I think they mean the various 'American' style hose clamps all over the engine. If you want a worm drive clamp the German or Swedish style worm gear clamps are a superior choice. The have curved edges and are not serrated so they do not damage the hose and I think are much stronger. I've never seen an Oetiker style break in use, I've seen numerous American style worm gear clamps break and/or damage the hose itself. I've seen German style ones break if they are over tightened but I look at that as only a user error problem.
@@ulbuilder Precisely. Those cheap worm drive clamps are a risk. Oetiker makes superior worm drive reusable ones, and also some that are attached with a crimp tool In either case, they are reliable and they won't pinch or damage the hose, and they maintain good seals with uniform pressure around the hose circumference.
Alternatively once you have removed the damaged Ring Gear & Flywheel from the Aircraft you can use a Propane Torch to go round the Ring Gear once at +/- 230 it will just drop off, no need to drill.

@RoyBenAnat OH, well, I'm no expert on pmags. I'll look for your follow-up to learn how you fix the problem.

Love it! Thank you
Love you telling the kids how to put new ring gear on 😊
Hope they will never have to do it 😅
Thanks a lot! And not only one, but two 337 in the background! 🤩
Get rid of those crappy hose clamps. Replace them with Oetiker clamps. You are a lucky man, yaldim hem mitnat elohim!
You mean the plastic ones on the MAPs?

Good point! I hope I'll never try that 😅
Or oven
Note, that blowing into the MAP sensor tube is only good when you have a Emags. Regular mags need a timer.
Yep, I have dual Pmags
Clean
The right mag needs to be grounded during start on a 360.
That's new to me
Only if the right mag is a direct drive conventional magneto. You crank on both if impulse-coupled or electronic mags are installed in both positions.
Stay away from those poor quality lycomings, death traps. Stick to Rotax or automotive engines.
Rotax doesn't fit all applications
you are kidding right?? you have to be.. lol..
@@RoyBenAnat lol.. Snowmobiles.. jetski's... 80's ultralights.. no place in actual aviation..
