I am a 66-year-old ASU professor that has loved baseball all of my life. I have learned more in the last few months from Trevor's videos than I did in all of the years before. Trevor is a natural teacher. This video is one worth watching several times. There is a lot of good stuff here.

こんにちは from Japan Wonder Travel! We just wanted to say thank you so much for joining our Fukushima Tour and for showing it in one of your latest RUclips videos! A number of our staff are big fans of yours. Our staff(Mana) was the one who checked you in and got you on the bus at the beginning of the tour and was honored to be featured. We hope you enjoyed the tour and would really appreciate it if you could recommend it to your friends and fans in the future!
22:09 The boy told by his grandpa to go up higher place when tsunami comes says to the teacher in the board, "This way ! This is the path into the mountain! I've taken this path when I attend my Baseball practice !" I hope he and Trevor meet each other someday and talk.
@@NaenaeBoyI mean thats slightly redundant isn't it? You are a person like an athlete. Maybe not naturally gifted but you could put the work in another area. Maybe a trainer, or maybe at your job. The thing is 99pc of people won't put the work in early and raise through the ranks. It's hard to be and stay motivated. I feel thankful not only for the fact that you come to Japan to play baseball but that you visited Fukushima to learn what the earthquake and tsunami had caused there. I love all you vlogs but this is one of the best episodes so far.
It's amazing how usefull the death spiral analogy is, from someone that's been battling with depression for years you just made me realize that that's kinda how it is and the only way to get better is to follow the same 4 steps (in a different way obviously) 1. Preparation for your day (get good sleep, eat well, etc.) 2. Choices/ goals for the day (chores, work, school, etc.) 3. Excecution (when and how are you going to do all those things) 4. Command or feedback (did you hit your target or not). And most importantly, you have to let go all of the negative things that weigh you down. I know first hand that it's more complicated than that, but it's true. And having heard that on a Sunday after a bad week I thank you for motivating me to give it another shot and looking forward to this week. Thank you so much trevor.
Trevor, thank you for visiting the past disaster memorial place. I am sure all Japanese are grateful to you. No wonder you have got so many fans in just 6 months. You are making an effort to understand this country. And you enjoy even the inconvenience and difficulty of the differences. Not everyone can do that. It makes me sad to think that some day you will leave this country. But at the same time, I hope that you will have great results in Japan and return to Major League Baseball to play in the World Series again. Stay healthy, and enjoy the baseball itself in this country. Your success is guaranteed.
Trevor, thanks for your great vlog, it's great to see how professional athlete prepare physically and mentally. I was living in Miyagi prefecture when the Tsunami hit, it was a terrible situation for so many people. 2 years later on the 3 November 2013 the Rakuten Eagles won the championship with the help of Masahiro Tanaka who had a legendary season of 24-0! You have to watch the last inning of that final between the Giants vs Rakuten, it was one of the most emotional sporting event I had ever witness. Tanaka had lost his first match of the season pitching 160 pitches in the 6th match of the final. He went back on the 9th inning of the 7th game as a closer to close it. This gave everyone in the Tohoku region (the 6 prefectures in the north) so much joy and hope. One crazy coincidence is that the tsunami happened on March 11th (3/11) and Rakuten won on November 3rd (11/3).
The timing of this video couldn't be better as it comes right after a game Trevor won where the opposing pitcher got dinged for 10 runs in the ninth inning. Trevor sent a message out to that pitcher to try and cheer him up, and the next day he comes out with this video.
I lived in the town where this tsunami occurred. My family was safe, but I lost my home. I had a very painful experience due to the nuclear disaster and tsunami damage, but I am fine now. Thank you very much for all the support you have provided to Japan from all over the world. I will never forget this kindness. Thank you. Thank you so much for coming Trevor.🇯🇵
Sorry about the loss.😟 Great content. I learned a lot. Your advice on how to avoid the death spiral applies to everything. Focus on what you can control and accept what you can't. I learned that many years ago but I had forgotten. Thanks for the reminder. Much appreciated. Thanks for the great video!✌🏻💟😁⚾🇺🇸
TB, you're such a great ambassador. I realize it's not the life you had planned, but I feel like this will become such of a time for growing and proving WHO you are for your future. I do hope you one day meet the kid who saved the class. You're saving baseball while the MLB saves itself. Best of wishes big Gaijin.
Amazing how similar to death spiral logic is between a pitcher and a hockey goaltender. When you have a string of bad starts just learning to focus on what you can control, and how consistency and a change in luck is often what gets you out of it.
I never cease to be amazed at Trevor’s videos. Informative, entertaining and above all else, they make me want to go out and train hard and compete at a higher level.
I've seen a lot of the kids using it during the LLWS. Definitely a good sign that you are teaching them a lot about pitching. You're a good source of information on pitching, preparation, and exercising.
Hey Trevor. For the spray painted cleats, I think you should use a clear coat on top of the shoe after the initial paint drys. I think a clear coat helps the paint stay versus it smudging and coming off
The surface to be painted has to be prepped to allow the paint to chemically bond with the "painted" material...as an example, apply paint to a piece of plastic , spray top coat on it once the paint dries and watch how quickly the paint peels off with the slightest contact with the piece of plastic.
Thanks for this. My son just started playing college ball (pitcher) and I am grateful for a lot of your insights. A lot of things parents say go out the window (even if you’re a doctor 🙄), so having a pro say the same things makes a big difference! 🤙🙏
I would take a pitcher who guarantees me a QS every game over a mid 3s era. Imagine knowing your pitcher will always go six with no more then 3 against
If you had a quality start every time you pitched, the highest ERA you could have over a season is a 3.00 because if you pitched a game and gave up 2 runs over 6 innings exactly, that gives you a 3 ERA for the game. Quality starts are definitely not the best stat to measure a player's full performance over a season, but it can stand out if you have them consistently.
@@JamesLee-qb2elA quality start is technically 3 earned runs, or less, given up over 6, or more, innings innings. Therefore a pitcher that only pitches quality starts can have an ERA of 4.5. If a pitcher has 70-80% of starts be quality starts it is a great way of knowing if a starting pitcher is consistent and good. That's 22-26 games where the starts gives up 3 or less runs and goes for at least 6 innings. Which, on a team whose offense isn't anemic should be at least a 15 win season and probably close to a 20 win season.
Hey, I ran into Eric at Callaway's Performance Center in Carlsbad, CA last week. Nice guy. Took a few photos. As you mentioned before, he is off to Japan to do a video together? It'll be fun. He watches your videos religiously, and is learning a lot from you.

Mr. Bauer, I have a suggestion. Why not randomly buy spikes like you did when you first bought the WaGyuJB glove from the crosspo baseball shop? Perhaps this time many spike makers will start sales activities for you. Many Yokohama citizens felt a sense of familiarity with your shopping at the Crosspo Baseball Shop. It's almost the end of the season, why don't you visit that store again to reminisce about the first memories?
some paint advice. If you can rough up the surface and use a primer first, that will ususally do the trick. No primer that adheres well allows paint to come off easily. Thanks for the great videos and keep them coming!
Thanks for the quality content like usual! It’s awesome how you’re taking us to historical sights in Japan. PLEASE GO TO EN YA IN YOKOHAMA! Wanna see more Japanese food!
Nice, Bruin colored gloves! I am interested to hear Trevor’s take on the Shohei and his ACL situation. In his opinion, should he have pitched less, or avoided particular types of pitches to prevent this from happening. Wondered if Trevor ever went to Tokyo Disneyland/sea yet. They are quite different especially the seasonal parades and shows. Great to see people visiting the power plant and the towns. So many stories and memorials all along the coast. Would love to show him around if he ever visits Sendai.
You can smell the crazy (good crazy) emanating off Trevor. This guy WILLED himself into being one of the best pitchers in the World. Seems like a lot of the time he just gets into his own way with people. TOTALLY get him and wish him all success.
Preparation Choices Execution (combine your 3 & 4) Response to execution & other responses: if your execution wasn’t right what do you need to respond/fix in order for it to work as expected; also what will you do if the batter does x, how does that dictate your response the next pitch or next ab you face them. Just slightly different ideas but you’re the pro
Great video, especially the analysis at the beginning. You mentioned studying the league to improve your pitch choices, but I was curious how much time you spend studying specific opposition hitters for each game, or if you prefer focusing on executing good pitches.
It’s really interesting to hear you break down all these different situations. Baseball needs your brain. This sport can weigh heavily on the mind but you provide these really brilliant ways of going about things
First of all, sorry if my english is wrong. I think that many Japanese people have stopped thinking about the nuclear accident in Fukushima. Including me. Other than March 11, there are few related reports. I respect Trev's parents and friend for their enlightened actions.🌈 I understand that neither the nuclear accident nor the death-spiral will solve anything without thought and analysis. Trev, you gave Mr.Kondo important advice as a pitcher. Your kindness is so beautiful.🍀
Awesome video man. It sucks when you don't get run support. The Mariners did that a lot with Felix. Extremely interesting on mentality and performance. I always look forward to your videos! Keep it up!
One of the requirements for the Sawamura Award is 10 complete games in a season. He can be selected even if he falls a little short, but he has only pitched two complete games.

Dear Trevor. Thank you for visiting Fukushima despite your busy schedule.I would also like to thank your father and mother. I respect with your scientific opinion👍️👍️👍️
I’m loving the content Trevor. But have a question about your death spiral. Do you think it could convert over to other sports like disc golf? As well your warm up and conditioning drills also help out with other sports that deals with shoulder and elbow mobility? Keep it up!! Hot up see you back into the MLB.
The next day, Kondo joined the second team at Nagoya Stadium. He was depressed after something bad happened the night before, but his teammates told him not to worry about it, so he participated in practice. However, as soon as practice began, Kondo was given a penalty run of ``200 runs between the outfield poles''. Pole-to-pole running refers to a mid-distance run where players dash along the stadium fence to the opposite pole. The distance between the poles varies depending on the stadium, but is approximately 150 meters. It is a menu that is often incorporated in practice, and it is said that it is common to complete around 20 exercises.
Think the bat is to make sure you are staying back and when to blast head of bat through the zone. Cup on end just to knock a little weight off. I like rounded ends. I'll send you a model number to a great bat.
Cool video. I enjoyed knowing why I felt tired during games. But mainly I learned that you have to take care of your arm. Little league coaches need to watch this. They would throw number 1 pitcher every game if possible. Hopefully, they have pitch counts in all junior sports. Thanks for the winning tag. Have a nice day, Shaun
15:46 It is an explanation of the counter swing of the bat of Asics. The counter swing is characterized by having two pieces that move when you swing. When you make a practice swing with a counterswing, if you have an ideal swing, the two tops will move at the same time, and you will hear a collision sound only once before the bat head comes out. If these two pieces move separately and the collision sound is heard twice around the impact, please be careful as it is not an ideal swing. In other words, if the sound is at impact or twice, it means that you have made a wrong swing. It's important to repeat that there is only one click during the swing, and that is before the head of the bat comes out. A counterswing is a piece of baseball gear designed to create a twist in the body during the swing. Body twist refers to the twist difference in the body so that the lower body starts moving first, then the hip rotation, the upper body, and finally the bat comes out. By creating this difference in torsion, the head runs at impact, leading to an increase in flight distance. If there is no twisting of the body, the head will come out first, so the sound will be heard around the impact and the head will run after the impact. When swinging with the counterswing, be aware of the twisting of your body and practice. As you can see when you use the counter swing, it is difficult until you get the hang of playing the sound only once in the back. If you can't do it well, let's practice divided into two exercises as Minoruman explains. First, level your counterswing toward the catcher. Next, while leaving the two tops, pull out only the grip and swing. By doing this, only the body of the counter swing will move, and the top will make a single sound when it collides with the back. At this time, you have to be careful not to move the piece by stabbing the counterswing toward the catcher. ruclips.net/video/onPI4eyKLX8/видео.html

I was living in Japan when the tsunami hit. We all had to go up to the top of the hill in Yokosuka in case it came all the way into the harbor. Fortunately the water receded and came back in like a tide instead of a wave.
u might need some better prep on the cleats by either cleaning the surface with some isopropyl and or sanding/scuffing the surface so paint will adhere. Then some clear coat over it.
That Tsunami was a horrible experience for Japan. If the Liyuta bay tsunami was actually experienced, somewheres big, it would of dealt a lot of damage

some paint advice.
Love how you tell these sides of Baseball man banger as usual Trev
You can smell the crazy (good crazy) emanating off Trevor. This guy WILLED himself into being one of the best pitchers in the World. Seems like a lot of the time he just gets into his own way with people. TOTALLY get him and wish him all success.
Preparation
Choices
Execution (combine your 3 & 4)
Response to execution & other responses: if your execution wasn’t right what do you need to respond/fix in order for it to work as expected; also what will you do if the batter does x, how does that dictate your response the next pitch or next ab you face them.
Just slightly different ideas but you’re the pro
Great video, especially the analysis at the beginning. You mentioned studying the league to improve your pitch choices, but I was curious how much time you spend studying specific opposition hitters for each game, or if you prefer focusing on executing good pitches.
The fact that Trevor reads all of these is a testament of his character. He sees us. Great job bub. Keep killing it in Japan my man.
Very Good player and technically sound pitcher. Hope to watch you in Japan when we go there. Your fan from the Philippines.
It’s really interesting to hear you break down all these different situations. Baseball needs your brain. This sport can weigh heavily on the mind but you provide these really brilliant ways of going about things
Hello Trevor keep up the good work
First of all, sorry if my english is wrong.
I think that many Japanese people have stopped thinking about the nuclear accident in Fukushima. Including me. Other than March 11, there are few related reports.
I respect Trev's parents and friend for their enlightened actions.🌈
I understand that neither the nuclear accident nor the death-spiral will solve anything without thought and analysis.
Trev, you gave Mr.Kondo important advice as a pitcher. Your kindness is so beautiful.🍀
@Trevor Bauer Sam Bat is from Canada where I am from. Their claim to fame is that they started the use of Maple bats in mlb. They make good bats.
We need the equivalent of a Trevor Bauer but for hitters/position players
Awesome video man. It sucks when you don't get run support. The Mariners did that a lot with Felix. Extremely interesting on mentality and performance. I always look forward to your videos! Keep it up!
Trevor is the first player to win the Cy Young Award and the Sawamura Award
It’s all over baseball we know‼️‼️‼️
Respectfully
The unprecedented becomes a reality!
One of the requirements for the Sawamura Award is 10 complete games in a season. He can be selected even if he falls a little short, but he has only pitched two complete games.
The Diamondbacks needed this video in...like...late June. July was one giant death spiral for us. It was BRUTAL...
17:08 Senzu Beans! Not really just the green bean and Japanese makes me think of Dragon Ball Z.
Alek Manoah needs to see this video
Alex Manoah needs to lose some weight.
Avoid the Death Spiral= sit and wait for the next Trevors video .. Another great video brotha .. you got this bro keep rocking it out . Like everything in life sometimes we over think it. Its a game just play your game . Stop worrying you are playing this game at a level we all can only dream of being at . Mad respect and love for you .. till the next video i will be waiting and wondering whats up jext
'Unko' (うんこ=) is a hilarious play on words. うん(運、'Un') also means "luck". こ=子('ko' like kid). It is a Good Luck charm. 運がいい=Have good luck.
These videos make my day getter
Those half pints are fun to watch & they're pretty good at it.
Love the kid from Curacao doing the sword 😂😂😂😂😂
Just so happens i was rewatching the old videos and you post this. Canr argue with the timing.
Thanks for the great videos Trevor.
Dear Trevor.
Thank you for visiting Fukushima despite your busy schedule.I would also like to thank your father and mother.
I respect with your scientific opinion👍️👍️👍️
If youre a baseball nerd and not watching these you are missing out. Top shelf content.
GOAT of baseball! Free Trevor Bauer now!
The sword was insane from the bmx bike rider
I’m loving the content Trevor. But have a question about your death spiral. Do you think it could convert over to other sports like disc golf? As well your warm up and conditioning drills also help out with other sports that deals with shoulder and elbow mobility? Keep it up!! Hot up see you back into the MLB.
You have such a bright future after you're done pitching. Keep up the good work.
Very insightful for up and coming pitchers either minor league through little league pitchers just starting out.
I love how at his heart Trevor is a big nerd.
Have a nice day,
Shaun
Disney on ice review was good, you should do theme park review too.
Came here for Pitching updates and games. Got a Disney and BMX lesson.

Your thoughts create your reality.
Love the glove reviews their really neat
Love you Trev!
I can't express how much I fucking love this vlog and I am not a vlog guy.
Yokosuka Friendship Day, which opens part of the U.S. Navy Yokosuka Base near the Bay Stars practice field for the purpose of promoting goodwill between Japan and the United States, will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2023! To enter the U.S. Navy Yokosuka Air Base, advance registration is required on the web.
Trevor Bauer is my favorite disney princess
I was living in Japan when the tsunami hit. We all had to go up to the top of the hill in Yokosuka in case it came all the way into the harbor. Fortunately the water receded and came back in like a tide instead of a wave.
16:35 That bat was actually for bat path, if you did the right swing there will be only one sound, if it’s wrong, there will be two sounds.
so high level sports is mostly mental....got it
u might need some better prep on the cleats by either cleaning the surface with some isopropyl and or sanding/scuffing the surface so paint will adhere. Then some clear coat over it.
That Tsunami was a horrible experience for Japan. If the Liyuta bay tsunami was actually experienced, somewheres big, it would of dealt a lot of damage
Wouldn't be surprised if this will change the way Young Players think.
And it's great Advice
I still think a heavier glove would act like the kinetic power from a Trebuchet and add more torsional power to your pitch...getting you to 100mph.
Love this guy
