Depends on the time of year, but Broken Glass might be the one. Odd Fellows Rest is a masterpiece. The Serpent Only Lies goes fucking hard too, highly refined. I guess what I'm saying is I am now going to be listening to Crowbar for the rest the day.
Crowbar is one of those bands I can't just pick one. Same with High On Fire. One week their self-titled may be my favorite. Then the next week I'll be listening to Lifesblood for the Downtrodden .
Peter's band Carnivore and the first Type O record were major influences on Crowbar and the NOLA metal scene in general, along with other young NYHC bands (AF/SOIA). Obedience Through Suffering has major Pete Steele influence.
The Crowbar song "Symbolic Suicide" came from a conversation he had with Pete about how a failed suicide attempt isn't really a failed attempt, but a symbolic suicide where you don't actually die.
I'd be lying if I didn't say Kirk is one of my biggest influences in metal guitar playing. You can always, ALWAYS, pick out a Kirk Windstein riff.... He has the beard of a god and the riffs of one too.
Kirk should really remix and remaster Obedience Thru Suffering since he said it's more of a "glorified demo". There's seriously some killer songs on there!
Its funny the first one was about him not being depressed. I saw them one time on a head full of fungus and remember him looking sooooooo bummed, like he was in pain. Was the funniest shit in the world to me at that moment. Crowbar rules!
Kirk is such an amazing musician, a real riff master with absolutely powerful guitar tone. Crowbar are one of most excellent metal bands. My favourite albums are Broken Glass, Sonic Excess in Its Purest Form, Sever the Wicked Hand and Symmetry in Black.
Thanks for this. I wish it was 3 hours longer. Love Kirk so much. Would give anything to be sitting across from the table from the guy, picking his brain about guitars, riffs, and I'd tell him that the riff at 1:37 in "Burn Your World" is one of the greatest things ever created on a guitar. \m/
I met Kirk once and he offish, but i understand that he is a human being, he could have been tired from all the touring, it takes a toll on u,i understand that
He was (is) a fan of Type O Negative, if I'm not mistaken. And also of Carnivore, Peter Steele's previous band before TON. Also, lately, Kirk and Todd Strange have been involved in a new group with former Type O Negative members: Eye Am.
What's your favorite Crowbar album of the last 30 years?
It's got to be odd fellows rest, such a good album.

How can you not like this guy? One of the most genuine person in a "metal community".
One of my favorite bands and Kirk is one of the great riff lords....
I describe Crowbar's music as SOUL MUSIC. heavy soul music....
Kirk is up there with Iommi and Dime IMO🤘
This man has a Type O Negative tattoo on his hand.
Noticed that
Peter's band Carnivore and the first Type O record were major influences on Crowbar and the NOLA metal scene in general, along with other young NYHC bands (AF/SOIA). Obedience Through Suffering has major Pete Steele influence.
@@timschmitz2873 thanks for the info dude. I did not know that. RIP Pete. It's been 10 years already.
The Crowbar song "Symbolic Suicide" came from a conversation he had with Pete about how a failed suicide attempt isn't really a failed attempt, but a symbolic suicide where you don't actually die.
@Tim Schmitz I wonder if it went both ways. The opening riff of “everything dies” always reminded me of crowbar.
Such an underrated and underappreciated band. I've been a fan since 97. Planets Collide is a superb song with one of my favorite riffs ever.
Kirk is a real stand up man, no bull shit, no side show...just a straight up genuine human..
I'd be lying if I didn't say Kirk is one of my biggest influences in metal guitar playing. You can always, ALWAYS, pick out a Kirk Windstein riff.... He has the beard of a god and the riffs of one too.
Him and Jerry Cantrell have the best riffs ever made. Kirk the Lord of the riff.
Talked to Kirk several times at Pats Pub in Metairie LA he is one of the nicest dudes I've ever met.
Great bar with cool people
Kirk is a true legend and has the absolute best guitar tone! Fave album: Time Heals Nothing
Met Kirk at the Chance in Poughkeepsie. Asked if he would sign my shirt and he said "give me the right utensil". Nice guy, humble, great show. 8/6/22
Total fucking class act, what an awesome dude
Kirk should really remix and remaster Obedience Thru Suffering since he said it's more of a "glorified demo". There's seriously some killer songs on there!
Just revamp and re-record it. Throw the lyrics/vocals in the trash if you have to. The riffs are good.
@@aronph1those are the best vocals he’s ever done, definitely don’t can them….
fucking love this band.there are A LOT of bands that try to sound heavy, crowbar just is.i will support this band forever
Nice Type O Negative tattoo Kirk!

We are fucking Crowbar from New Orleans! Kirk is the Man! 🤘💪💪
When him and phil talk they shake foundations.
Man as long as I’ve been a fan of crowbar, I can’t believe I didn’t know some of this stuff
for someone who's neurotypical/not mentally ill he sure does hit the nail on the head. I can tell he's very empathetic to those who suffer.
Soilent Green 🤘
Fuck yes.
Fact -11…Crowbar are Ridiculously HEAVY!!🤘🏻⚜️
saw them couple years ago with overkill. great show

That Type O tat on his hand is awesome
he has a Carnivore tattoo as well right under the Typo O tat
Heavy guitar driven music rules!! 💀🤘💀🤘
Very interesting writing process, I dig it!
Love Kirk❤️❤️🤘🏻
Kirk is a legend.
The term “Obedience Thru Suffering” is a perfect description of my time at MCRD Parris Island.
Riff master!
Hey, I went to USM!
Awesome
Cool dude it's My first time getting into crowbar and it's really good
Kirk rules!
Wow!
Fun facts...
Even his voice is tuned to B

Beard of Doom !
I’m going with Obedience. But I like most of them almost as much.

THIS MAN MADE ME THE FAT FUCK I AM TODAY, THANK YOU KIRK!
GIVE KIRK A SIGNATURE GUITAR FOR GOD FUCKING SAKES!
Low and slow 4 life!
Yeah! Not that I'm against Speed Metal, but sometimes it truly pays to slow down, and just riff it out, at a slower speed.
The Slugs !
Killer
I met Kirk once and he offish, but i understand that he is a human being, he could have been tired from all the touring, it takes a toll on u,i understand that
We need more soilent green.
The peoples champ
agree 100% with Kirk, I hate the stupid term sludge. it's just pure metal, that's enough🤘🤘🤘
Whys he got a type o negative tattoo on his hand ?
He must hate that band. Go figure.
He was (is) a fan of Type O Negative, if I'm not mistaken. And also of Carnivore, Peter Steele's previous band before TON. Also, lately, Kirk and Todd Strange have been involved in a new group with former Type O Negative members: Eye Am.
But what does Philip anselmo think?
???
Dickbrain McGee I think it’s a joke on what does Corey Think? Due to Kirk and Phil are good friends. I might be wrong tho..
@@irishjoe2941 it's a reference to the band down since kirk and phil have ties to both bands
@@irishjoe2941 Yeah it could be. Phil and Kirk have been close friends for decades.
Я ничего не понимаю ))
There was a band in Canada with the same name. I'm guessing your not the same band.
Definitely not the same band, lol.
@@calamityjohnny1646 your so rite , o what a feeling what a rushhhhhhhhh.
Jesus loves you Kirk!
That type o tattoo tho....
None heavier
*NOLA is hands down his best work ever.*
Metal comunity should not alinate rock/pop rock because fans of metal begin as fan of rock
when you smile... you look like John Petrucci!
