Thank you! Because of this video I called power company before electrician. Problem was outside and not with breaker.

I lived a nightmare in October. I was starting to get brownout conditions after storms. BUT...my neighbors on both sides were FINE. I didn't have a Clue. The problem WAS: the Electricians who wired my early Sixties house didn't bother to put a Weather Head on top!! How I got away with it so long is beyond my comprehension. And, while an Electrician was able to diagnose the problem, he wasn't available to fix it for WEEKS. Some of those guys said: "After Thanksgiving." SO, I unplugged the fridge: it was making Terrible noises from operating at low voltage. The compressor would have blown. I stupidly didn't throw out the food. The house was 57 F, but quickly rewarmed after repairs were finally made. I have a Generac, but didn't want to run it every night-it's Loud.
The independent guy who came, replaced the "can," "Breaker box" and, of course, installed a weather head, and brought the grounding up to code. It was a bit over two grand, but well worth it. NOW, to clean out the fridge. Hope I can save it!!
I had to replace my HVAC transformer several times (learned to DIY it) and had the three starting condensers replaced last year.

The electric company came out and said everything is fine. None of the breakers tripped though. Some lights work but the washer and dryer and furnace won't work. It'll come back on for a little while and then go back out. I can't afford an electrician lol... I'm trying to fix it myself because it's still cold in Ohio and I have a baby in the house.

Recently dryer, ac, and some gfci outlets went out. Local electric company came and checked the meter. It was getting low voltage on 1 leg. They checked the connection at their end and it was good. So they say we need to replace the underground electric wiring from our end to the meter. This happen often, and is there anything that mimics this like a bad breaker? The thing is it is measuring low at the meter ect. Is there anything in between that may be bad. Have a shut off at the ac, could that be bad. Thanks!

I had the same problem several years ago, there was a tree limb touching one wire lead. Called the electric company and they took care of it.

Can someone help me out please? I want to know the proper way to test a leg from the meter. My house only had 1 strong leg from the meter and the other leg would only work some what. I got the problem fixed by finding the problem. I got a power strip and wired it into the the house main breaker. It could power a 100w bulb on the weak leg but not a 1500w heater so I did the same test at the main breaker outside under the meter box and it passed the 1500w load test I had rigged up. There ended up been a bad spilce under this house. Instead of running a load test on each leg how could I have checked this with a multimeter? Some continuity got through so should have resistance been the proper test? Using a long wire to connec to one side and then checking the line for resistance? If so where can I go to learn about that? Thanks!

Lost power to half the house on the even numbered breakers/circuits (no breakers tripped). It was intermittent with flickering lights. Turns out the problem was a faulty power strip with surge protection (on the even number breaker/circuit), which I had daisy-chained with another surge bar/power strip. I disconnected the faulty power strip and reduced the daisy-chaining of power strips and PROBLEM FIXED. The control panel is 35 years old and still works.

The funny thing was that there was a quick temporary fix that I discovered by accident. When power was out to half the house, I turned on the oven and the power came back on to the half the house that had the outage (this trick worked EVERY TIME). Then a few hours later, the power would go out again. The oven is on a double-breaker that has an even and odd number breaker/circuit, so somehow by turning on the oven for a second (and turning back off right away) caused the power to be back to normal again. The first place to look for the problem is on the outlets/circuits that keep losing power.

I have 2 rooms that are out of power, outlets and light switch don’t work. The rooms are directly on top of one another. I replaced a outlet that I thought might be the problem but that didn’t work. Can’t find a GFI reset. I’ve opened every outlet to check for burnt anything and there fine. My uncle check the breaker box n there is power. What can I do next?

It could be the gfi in bathroom or kitchen
      Test them

Could also just be a bad socket or switch.
