Being from the South, seasoned women (especially church mothers) taught us to put EVERYTHING we would wear the next day together, PRESSED AND READY...NOT "WRANKLED." And, to always have a "thrown on real quick" outfit in case of emergency and wear underwear in case of an accident. Lol...I still get everything out the night or week's worth of clothes before for me and my kids...taught me organization and time management matters if you want to be a good leader.
You are right. My mom is from the south. Hygiene and looking presentable at all times was very important. She too would say put on clean underwear everyday. She used the accident scenario also. I have everyday of clothes mapped out. She taught me to shine my shoes and sew too. I've taught my girls the same. I'm glad Angela has this channel to teach others. Keep your house and car clean, and your mouth clean by brushing, and losing foul words out of your vocabulary.
You are so right. I just had to get out of the mindset to stop being cheap and pay the extra $$ go to the tailor. OMG! I got a great price on a designer suit but the pants were baggy in the seat. My supervisor asked me if I ever go to the tailor because we are both short and she said that she has everything shorten from shirts, jackets, and pants. Her entire wardrobe always looked polished. I took the newly purchased suit to the tailor and let me tell you. That suit fits me like it was custom made. It looks great and more importantly, I feel so good when I wear it. I have been going to the tailor more frequently.
I have always gotten my clothes together the night or two before whether it was Church, work, going out, travelling, etc. When I travel I try to keep the colors coordinated with the bag and shoes, etc. You are one sharp lady. I'm 66, now that I am retired, I spend a lot of time in denim and nice tops and nice looking jewelry.
Totally agree on the shoes. I had a beautiful pair of hand made Italian loafers for nearly 15 years, had them resoled several times. When I'd meet with client, I would often be complimented on how beautiful they were. Yes, people notice.
LOVE ALL of these suggestions...when I find a great pair of well made shoes I get a second pair as a back up...I am VERY intentional about my clothing and accessory purchases. I am going to be 60 yrs. old this year and my advise to the younger people is to buy the very best made pieces for your wardrobe that you can afford...and hang on to them...I have pieces from 20+ yrs. ago that are still going strong. It keeps our environment healthy, as well. 😁
I do all of what you are saying. I try to look polished whenever I walk out the house. Another thing is having a wig (not necessarily for every day) but for that day your hair says no!!!! Just a thought.
Lord, I missed the days when everyone dress everyday, looking polished and finished.❤ We didn’t step out in any old thing going to the grocery story or any place else. No rollers, scarfs on our heads, Jean’s to church, etc. we need to go back to those times, even if just for our selves.
I have always laid out everything the night before...if I don't and to look for something next morning I am going to be late. I adopted the practice when I had my daughter and never stopped. It works for me
Angela! When you said guess what I am sitting on I instantly said, "A Paint Bucket". I set on one for years because I did not have a tall tripod. 🤣🤣🤣 Girl! I love you! And I love everybody's dog At Their House! Keep the videos coming. I love all of your Banana Republic recommendations.
Loved the video. I prepare my outfit the day before. I always have an alternative outfit, in case there is bad weather. This includes accessories and underwear. For instance, if I was planning to wear sandles; but it starts raining 🌧. OR, It's too cold 🥶 for the top I was going to wear. I agree that I like the way people used to dress, back in the day. And, I love leather; it is durable. I buy leather accessories, instead of vegan. I like to enjoy my stuff for a long time.
I agree with you on tip 1. I use to buy cheaper versions of somethings & it didn't last at all. I decided to go with better fabrics & my clothes fit better & lasted alot longer. I agree with the go to outfits. I hv those on my clothing rack. Thanks for the tips they are really helpful reminders.
I love love love seeing the “bloopers” your husband leaves in.😂😂Just like a hubby- supportive but ALWAYS doing extra 🤣 Great job! Sometimes I come just to see what he left in and laugh (although I learn much from you too- I’m not a fashion person naturally 😢)
Okay, with the rushing. Happened to me twice last week. I have a "uniform" of skirt and blouse. My alarm didn't go off😫. Out the door in 15 minutes. The second my hair stylist overbooked so asked me to come back. You saved me Mrs. Angela! I watched your head wrap video. Whew! I agree on shoes. I had some leather boots for around 15-16 years until the cobbler told me, "let them die" 😂.
I been binged watched all your videos a whillle ago and continue to crave your content. Then one day I realized I never commented just always liked. But I need to start commenting because I love love love you and all your tips! Thank you so much for the advice ! Laying out my hit the door outfits right now. ❤
I am so happy RUclips recommended your channel to me. I truly enjoy your content. I've been looking for style inspiration that is age appropriate for me. If it is the will of Yahweh I will be 40 in April. I like to look well put together when I get dressed. There are so many channels for younger women and their fashion. So to find your channel is awesome to me. I have watched multiple videos of yours and subscribed. Thank you for sharing you style with us and God bless.
I hope you feel better. I'm in agreement...I spend the most money on my shoes. Also since I work from home...I dress more casual so I have been investing in my t-shirts.
One difference with the shoes between yesteryear and today, besides that they were leather and well-made in the first place, is people took care of them. When I was a kid (now I'm in early 60s, so not ancient!) we learned to clean and polish our shoes and boots. I don't think most people do that today. Great tips. Thanks as always.
You are right. No, I am younger by a few years but remember the show shine on the corner, department store and airports. Are they in airports anymore?!
You are so right. I don't know the last time I have seen anyone polish a pair of shoes. My son has taught me how to clean my sneakers. They cost more than my shoes, so I've been taking care of them.
Peace and Blessings Ms. Angela, My mother has taught me to look nice at all times. Thank you for sharing this, I have to get an oversized white shirt, and work on my go-to outfits.
First I want to thank you so very much for these wonderful tips! My mother always stressed that it was very important to set out your outfit the day before (not that I’ve always done this but I am now). I had been working from home until recently and found that my wardrobe is in need of a much needed makeover! I will be following your advice. 😊
I sure could have used the tip on having an outfit or two ready when you have a short window of time to get out the door two days ago 😩. I am working on two outfits now👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽🥰
Great advice on all points! I would add to your point about having your clothes tailored, have a regular tailor you love & who knows your body, this is not easy, but possible. And my go to uniform in cold months is a sweater & jeans/slacks & warmer months a good button down top, a shell, or dress. I totally resonate with the old fashioned ideals of good quality pieces lasting decades and the women who dressed up back in the day. I wish women would dress up more for every day looks. It's so feminine and elegant! We unfortunately have become a hoodie or t-shirt and sweatpants & trainers society.
I saw an older man the other day and new instantly his shoes were at least half my big age because of the style. I had to compliment him and turns out the boots were older than me 😅 also I bought a tee from Banana republic the other day. I cried. But I know it will be worth it as I transition from corporate life to being an entrepreneur ❤❤❤ thanks for the great tips. Love your channel.
Great tips, I wish more people would watch these tips, there are so many wearing tight clothes and it is quite unattractive. I typically try to lay clothes out for the week and I mentally prepare quick uniform outfits for the just in case.
Great nuggets! My favorite was having items tailored. The fit is chefs kiss. I have a go to tailor that I use for my items. Thank you Mrs. Angela and Mr. Production. Hope you feel better soon.
I love Angela Scott shoes, they are Goodyear welted and made to last. I have staple outfits that are ready to go but I do need to take the time to put together a look book for my signet pieces. This spring I plan on taking sewing classes so I can tailor my clothes to fit better. Not to mention I just lost 25lbs and have nice pieces that I don’t want to give up.
I hope you get relief soon, and thank you: These are great tips. I have never thought to put together an "out-the-door outfit, but I'm going to start now.
Hi Angela I always have what I am going to wear lay out for the next day. If I don't do this I will be wasting a lot of time getting ready. Great tips. Feel better soon
Good advice to live by. I watch simply because I enjoy you. The tips you shared in this video are the theme to my “wardrobe” life, especially the one about shoes. I’m 6 feet tall, with long narrow feet. A good pair of shoes is necessary for comfort and style. Good advice.
Love this Angela ! I was raised to put well made clothing in your closet ! ! It’s better to have a few quality items in your closet then a bunch of cheap I’ll fitting clothes! Thanks for this video !
Another Southern Girl. You better have that outfit together and they weren't playing to this day Iay my Sunday outfit out early. Don't like rushing & I hate late too unless it's Devine intervention. Atlanta GA is an unpredictable monster 😳
Love this❤❤. Love all your tips. I shapes are different so yes… I purchase 1 size up and take my clothes to the Taylor for alterations to her alter to my shape and it truly makes a difference. Like the clothes were made just for me. Love your content. ❤

A suggestion for when you're dog-sitting. An air purifier can help with your allergies with the extra dander. When I watch my friends pugs it has made a great difference.
Again, great information thank you I watched a couple of RUclips videos I do have all the basics for me the button down white shirt, the jeans, the black dress, etc. so thank you
Thank you so much for this video, great tips, very helpful; especially the tip about having your ready to go outfits put together. I hate to admit it, but I'm that chronically late Sista. I'm going to put together at least 5 outfits, lol...
I took my clothes to the tailor for the first time on my birthday last year 1 pair of pants bc I have the waist sticking out issue bc I have a pear shape with a few blazer and baby the tailor ain’t cheap! 😂 Can you make a video on how to maintain your clothes ?( detergents, washing, pressing, tailor, closet hacks etc) OAN my granny told me never put your purse (pocketbook) on the floor you won’t get no money 😂I do not sit mine in the floor #ArkansasRaised
Just found this and I love it for me! Gonna get caught up with your fantastic tips!🤩 Can you recommend also a channel for our husbands?🤔 We are both trying to step up our game and get our "hot couple" look back after 23 years of marriage and focusing on 2 kids for many years (and not ourselves)!
Yeah, totally know about not putting your purse on the floor. I have seen other women (including myself) pick a purse off the floor and hand it to a lady and say sweetie you don't put your handbag on the floor. Coming from one of the big chest crew, you can also just hand sew on some snaps on a button up shirt to keep things private, private. Snaps are very cheap and even sold at Walmart or Target. You see this is done on high quality fitted garments, they do it around the chest and the waist, anywhere there is a potential of pulling. I was born in 62 in GA and growing up polishing shoes were a constant at least weekly regimen with everyone because of the limitations of footwear a person owned. My grandmother use to use old biscuits and rub them on our shoes and purses to make them shine. My dad still has shoes that are about at least 40+ years old. I have to work on playing around in my closet and putting together complete looks that are ready to go. This will promote me using article of clothing that just hanging in the closet and not go out the house like I don't care. Thanks for sharing and blessings to you and all in the days to come.
I don’t mean to make this sound racial. But Black southern mothers, whether living in the south or north, always made you do these things when we were growing up. You had play/capsule clothes, work/school clothes, church clothes, and party clothes. You didn’t leave the house unless you were pressed, creased, combed and done. I have a tailor, shoe repair shop, hair stylist, etc. my daughters are the same.
I’ll be 50 this year. I still look young late 30’s nor do I feel like I’m going to be 50. Am I still supposed to dress like a 50 year old or can I dress like how I feel? Don’t get me wrong, I know I’m not a teeny bopper and not trying to look like one either. I even still like to boom music in my car. Do I need to transition? I’m at a crossroad 😢
Hi Angela 😀 Where did you get your jewelry, please? I checked out your website and I didn't see the bracelet or necklace. Also thanks for another great video. When production returning? I loved ya'lls interaction during your videos.
Hey sis. He's home right now, but I let him rest and I'll shoot the next two videos when he goes back to work. I had the necklace made for myself before I left Saudi Arabia. It's real gold with diamonds and rubies. It spells out my name in arabic. The earrings are from amazon LOL. Here's the earring link: amzn.to/3WoImGs
My "cheap" clothes do not get placed into the dryer, and are washed by hand or in the gentle cycle. I hang dry, and if I can, I spray with fabric sanitizer or refresher between wearings, and wash after three wearings, if I haven't stained the item,.
Angela in the 80s and 90s shoes were well made as that is what was valued. Now, poorly made clothing is the norm. Even $200.00 boots are not enough money to buy a good pair of Leather boots. Always be a discerning shopper and comparison shop.
I agree .... I truly feel after 2008 many companies changed. I saw some high-end boots and the stitching was horrid. I could see the glue!! I was so disappointed.
@Garlic Girl Yes. Designer brands aren't what they used to be. Perhaps if we use social media or communicate with companies via email, they will change their ways. Something has to give as hard earned money cannot be given for poorly manufactured goods.
Im allergic to some dogs. The curly dogs are more hypoallergenic. GOLDENDOODLE or Aussiedoodle etc. Feel better soon. Stay away from short haired dogs. Im looking for a Bernidoodle.

Headed to my closet to get two outfits together. 💨💨 Thanks for this tip!!
Angela, thanks for all the videos. I’m working on my wardrobe. As a teacher I go for comfort but I’m going to do better this year with your help.
Comfort in style. Nothing wrong with that. Pinterest has some cute teacher outfits.
Loved all your tips and when you mentioned the era when everyone dressed to the T. Men in suits, women in dresses, hats and gloves...girl!!

Angela, as old as I am I don’t know why I never thought to do that trick of having a couple of outfits ready. That’s such a good idea!
I was taught to look together fully before I left my house. I now teach my two young adult kids the same lesson.

A suggestion for when you're dog-sitting. An air purifier can help with your allergies with the extra dander. When I watch my friends pugs it has made a great difference.

It's not racist... it's the truth LOL. I still iron ALL my clothes (no creases though)
Great information always! I’m praying total healing for your allergies in Jesus Name 🙏💙🌺
