I'm new to watching Mimi, and a very new sewer. I love the way you start out with how to layout the pattern, how to cut both the fabric and interfacing, how to mark the fabric, and how to change the look of the pattern pieces. This is very helpful because that is the hardest part for me. I love to see how you fashion it after you sew.
I just had to rewatch! This dress makes me happy. I have to make time to sharpen my skills because the dfv inspo dress is the perfect dress. Colors, lengths, sleeves, textures; oh my!😍💃🏾
What I love is the fact that you teach every and anyone who wants to learn to sew. I have my own studio and you inspire me. I mean it's 2:30am raining cats and dogs outside and I'm watching Mimi G.
Although I loved rewatching the sew-along, whew chile!🤣 That was a bit advanced for me. I think one color would work just fine for my skill set. Great video. I’m excited to try this dress, #OneColorAtATime!🤣
So cute! I am planning some colour blocking on a Sew House Seven “Toaster Sweater”, that I put in my October Sewing Plans Video- I’m just doing it along the existing seams, but I love the idea of adjusting any pattern to do this!
Thank Gawd I found you girl!!!! I’m so new to sewing but I actually understood everything ....NOW doing it is the hard part but I’m gonna keep watching & practicing ❤️
watching your video's makes me want to create a whole wardrobe for myself. I hate shopping because nothing fits properly and it's just a horrible feeling so I gave up. Have you done any video's about adjusting a pattern for bodies that are different on the top, middle and bottom? BTW I'm glad I've found you because my husband surprised me with a sewing machine and I think I'm ready to use it. Love your spirit. I don't know about anyone else but your video's ease my mind about creating things. I don't get stressed out on where to start or how to go about doing anything. thank you:)
Fabulous . Great explanation - crudp and clear . Dress looks superb on you. Thank you for all your efforts in educating us . Dress designers are to fashion what architects are to buildings. Both create . From South Africa
I love your videos, can you do a video about how to expand your patterns? Say you want a pattern and it only goes up to a size 14 but you maybe an 18 and you can not find another pattern that works for your measurements, how do you wzpand the pattern to fit you?
love this video. I'm interested in your online classes but wanted to know do you go over pattern drafting from measurements or do you only cover store bought patterns? I would have to modify every pattern to fit my lower half and don't know how to do that yet
Mimi G that was fantastic piece of sewing i love the way you demonstrated how to sew a invisable zip and cut it off at the end of putting the facing on well done thank you for sharing happy sewing xx
Nice video! If you only want to color block the front and have a solid color on the back will you just cut the back as normal? Will it affect the sleeves?
Love your videos. Could you tell me what type of stitch you used with your jersey fabric please? I thought it had to be stretch stitch so as the stitches do not snap.
Love this tutorial ! I especially enjoyed the way you installed the sleeves, never saw sleeves being sewn in like that before. Question, can all sleeves be installed like that ? Also, your zipper installation was very interesting, never saw that before either :D Thanks for the tutorial. You have inspired me more :D
I always use the flat method in my knits and button up shirts. I use the set in method in my coats, blazers and lightweight fabrics like silks. The zipper method is faster, easier and doesn't require a specific invisible zipper foot.
Thank you for this awesome tutorial Mimi! I always learn so much from them, you are such a great teacher!:) Very clever way to install an invisible zipper, I'm totally going to try that in the dress I'm making now!
Where i am we dont have patterns like u do in ur country.. we have to measure everything and cut according.. i do wish i have the patterns which would make it easy to do the job..
Just asking since in the Mothers Day Giveaway you stated that you used that particular sewing machine for 7 years before upgrading. My mom has a sewing machine right now and its not that great. The one that you are using in this video seems so awesome and it would be perfect for her.
Yeah you totally could, I try to keep things easy to understand for the videos but yes you could totally pick up the dart in the seams if they are close enough to your bust. Also this is a knit so I could get away without doing a the darts all together ;-)

I learned so much in this demo! Especially you method of inserting the zipper and facing.
I loved the way you inserted the zip, never seen it done like that before. New technique to add to my sewing. thank you. nice dress too!
Thank you so much, its so much easier and I dont need a special foot.

Is it better to add the zipper to the back first after the shoulder seams?
Mimi g what kind of material is that
A year later and this is still too advance😳. I'm bout to practice on some ugly fabric until I get it right enough to wear it lol
