- In 1978 AC/DC played the Apollo Theatre in Glasgow, which mostly ended up on the live Album "If You Want Blood". Today, I'll be reacting to Riff Raff live from that show.

Al's Vinyl Collection is my way of sharing my passion with the world. I welcome all, if you're an avid Vinyl record enthusiast or just a passer-by, come and sit with me for 15 minutes to talk about the golden age of music. A civilised format from a more civilised time.
I do not own rights to video, I do not wish to monetise the video - I just want to react to it to bring entertainment and enjoyment for those watching.
There will never be anything quite like being in the audience to witness Angus in his prime for an entire show. Concert videos capture a lot of the energy, but from the audience perspective it felt like you'd witnessed Angus run a marathon at a sprinter's pace by the end of the show. And he did it every night.
The greatness of BON SCOTT!
RIP the Apollo, what a venue now sadly gone :(
Probably their best riff. This period of AC/DC is unfiltered, pure as it comes rock n roll. The live album, If You Want Blood is 100% live and off the scale energy wise. The only thing that can touch it is the live Dr Feelgood album, Stupidity. Check it out.
Yes you are exactly right about the duct tape on Angus’s guitar 🎸. The very first system he used was in 1977 at the show in NY at the Palladium and it was a Schaffer-Vega diversity system, which was a bulky system, the transmitter was usually duct taped to Angus’ guitar to avoid any movement or disconnection from the guitar jack, at one point it possibly even being implanted into the cavity of his Gibson SG to help with stability of the unit during Angus’ wild stage antics. Angus would continue to use these systems for at least a decade or more. More recently, Angus (and Malcolm) have been using the Lectrosonics wireless guitar systems on stage. So says Austin Tx!!!!! 😎🍸
i heard the wireless system was in his school bag thing he wears. tape was probably holding down the cord so he didnt knock it out during his crazy moves,
Hey Al, I’m so glad you are finally seeing the GREAT Bon Scott and the band in all their powerful glory. Bon was definitely a trigger for the band to bring out their music to the world, and they definitely did that. Bon was the POWERHOUSE of AC/DC and definitely my favourite singer in the mid to late 70’s. AC/DC were incredible in their prime, and they got better as the decades passed 🇦🇺👏👏🦘🥰👍😉
Powerage was the completed proof of concept.
I was fortunate enuff to be at that show absolutely awesome. Angus called it the magic show.
Good old blue collar rock and roll.
Sweat, spilled beer and lots of testosterone.
I saw ACDC live back in the late 70s.....here in Texas. They definitely know how to Rock!!!
Bon, Malcolm, Angus, all Scottish. Playing in Glasgow. Very exciting for all.
I wish people From the USA would see this live show!
we have. big fans here is the usa
This is when the band were a proper rock band, with Bon.
They were playing in their home town Glasgow
The greatest line up of this band. Bon Scott was one if not the best rock singer of all time.
AC/DC doing what they done best getting the crowd off.
Put simply, the 20th century rocked. and Chuck Berry is rockin' in his grave..... :)
1st album (If You Want Blood live album) I ever bought "with my own money" back in '79!
But his little Brother keeps his Band TIGHT. Malcolm.. R.I.P
I love how you appreciate Malcom😊
Enjoyed your comments on this. Great work.
If anyone ever asks what is great rock music, show them this stuff. My favourite since I was 10 soon I'll be 50 and same stuff is still on the top. Guess it's going to be like that the whole way. And I don't mind at all. Aaallll the waayyy
When I got the vinyl decades ago I didn’t realise Bon was born in Scotland and that George Young still had a Glasgow accent. Made sense. Years later I saw them with Brian in Glasgow and he commented; ‘This is the one we’ve been waiting for.’
Every song from that consert are absolute hellraisers. My fav is allthough "Fling thing/Rocker".
Two best live Rock and Roll bands of all time. Fact
1 AC/DC
2 Rush
And there you go. Screaming Blue Messiahs sorta got it. Only sorta, but they should be proud of that.
Too much fun. That's why I love these guys so much.
There's never a dull moment!
Reason they dont play this shit live its hard Baby hard. with energy.
The audio from this show was released as the "If You Want Blood, You've Got It" album. Just FYI.
Finally AC/DC reaction again
I have a lot of AC/DC stuff scheduled - unfortunately they're the only artist I've found to get copyright blocked my Sony, so I usually have to wait 5ish days for Sony to release the copyright block!
@@alsvinylcollection i like how most of the live at donington stuff is copyrighted except for high voltage and probably some other stuff i havent checked yet
And, bang! You hit on why AC/DC is so, so good. Yes, Angus & Bon/Brian are blowing you away, but the rhythm section (Malcolm, Cliff, Phil) are as tight as a fish's arse. Way underrated as the others take the limelight, but it only all works when the whole band are A-Graders, and these guys are the best. I highly recommend Jeff Apter's books about the band for a real insight into their brilliance.
Bon Scott forever
As a Guitarist when we are drunk we like Reference notes
Maby in London or Auckland. Perhaps in Scotland!
Another great reaction. I hadn't seen this clip. Thanks! I'd like to hear you react to: Jethro Tull, "Aqualung"
Stevie Ray Vaughn "Lenny" live at the El Macambo.
Psychedelic Furs "President Gas"
Traffic "Low Spark of High Heeled Boys"
Diverse group of music, to be sure.
yes my dear boy . but have you ever seen them live with Bonn?
Its called Kicking Ass
One of the two greatest front men! Bon would come out swinging!! He gave you 110% the whole show. He was the kind of guy you could trust with ur life but not your money or your wife! The other with complete command of the stage u just knew was a bad ass was ronnie van zandt.
Renfrew Street
This is if you want blood first album i bought
The man.sorry Men Malc.and Angus
not much singing from Bonn but Angus Goesssssss OFFFFFFFF
If this killer track by the greatest band to ever learn how to play instruments doesn't wake you up & give you a jolt then you've clocked out & you're dead bottom line 😎
won't see it live, hardly ever. Old men now.
When you ready for some old prog try Suppers Ready by Genesis I think u will love it Long tune but worth it
E by gum. You don't get gigs like this no more.....
SG's are Anvils
Nope! lol good bit of Kit he has there.
Brian is definitely a step down from Bon
not to get sloppy
Angus is Full tilt on this one Bonn is a Drunken mess Before he Passed
What?
try dog eat dog or let there be rock from the same show.
The more of Bon u watch, the more u realise he is the absolute king of rock! Elvis was great, but he is not the king!
