One of my biggest problem with RL is the lack of actual casual mode and what I mean by it is the casual MMR. Casual MMR makes it so that I, a c2, am playing GCs in casual and to be honest that doesn't make games very casual. Making the casual MMR effect even less on match searching could also make casual more playable for those teams with big skill cap and then you could make ranked work in a way where you can't queue ranked with too big MMR cap, because games where that cap is present are kind of uneven experience, sometimes too easy and sometimes too hard depending on the skill of the carry. The current casual MMR basically makes it that there's no point ever queueing casual.
@@realtechhacks Yes but people who doesn't play casual have so low mmr that for example gc plays vs silver and if you have low casual mmr you're going to play vs freestylers and you won't be able to touch the ball and if you have high casual mmr you might as well play ranked. I would love different permanent game modes. Even making heatseeker a permanent mode would make the game better. Lately I’ve been playing a lot of Dropshot instead of casual or ranked trios and it’s actually really fun. It feels good to play something different every once in a while.
I never play the temporary modes because you don't have enough time to get good at them and nobody is going to make videos about how to play them really well.
@@christiantaylor1495 With certain ones I didn’t need a lot of time to understand how to play. For example, with heatseeker I quickly learned that I would have to get better at aerials to have a chance to win. But I did have difficulty with spike rush, so I do understand where your coming from with certain modes. You can join custom tournaments that have heat seeker and spike rush and some other modes as well. It’s helped me get better at these modes, when they return as a LTM I actually have a chance to win.
I've had so many RL friends I tried to get into the game. Every single one stopped with the same excuse, "matchmaker is broken". They don't understand MMR or smurfing, they just assume the game is broken.
Add the option to never queue with a random again. I had 3 games in a row with the same teammate who threw every game. Don’t penalize your MMR when your random leaves in beginning of match. Add a 1 time rematch mode in competitive. Only once to avoid boosting.
They should make smurfing a lot more difficult. I would say put the MAC-adres and IPadress of every player in a database, check the MAC address and IPadress of the player against this database, is there a match?, then ban straight away. By checking against MAC address you at least not prevent people in the same network of not being able to play on another account. The only issue that arises with this is that you can't share a pc with, for example, your brother that plays rocket league too. (because of that MAC-adres and IPadress being the same). It's not waterproof, since MAC addresses can be spoofed too, but it will be a lot harder this way. There needs to be done something.
I have a question. Is it ok to own a second account for freestyle practice? Only playing in casual, of course. The opponents will be much lower leveled than you, but it’s in casual
In current stage of the game you can create new account and just play ranked (you're friend has to queue) and you don't even need 10th lvl. I hate it but it's just how it is. People are using it to smurf and it's annoing af but that's just how it is.
Voice chat is a tricky thing, would make it easier to play with friends multi platform for sure, but in my opinion would have to be made in a non intrusive and completely optional way, because not everyone wants to talk to or even hear strangers and that's just a fact.
regarding central servers, i believe there are servers in places like chicago and dallas which cover a lot of the midwest. Its just kind of a lottery whether u get those server locations or not.
I think a way to fix a little bit of the smurfing issues is not allowing say 1100-1200mmr players to be playing with 1500-1600 players somewhat similar to the valorant rank system in play
The best part about rocket league is random teammates that can't do the basics yet somehow find my lobby every game. Then they throw when you dish out a "what a save!" Because they have small pp.
6:10 To argue against this. Smurfing by someone who is one or two ranks higher than you is pretty beneficial but when the difference is 3 or 5 or more, then it becomes really hard to learn anything due to the fact their mechanical abilities are far greater than yours
Played a 3v3 with randoms recently, one player was doing stuff that low gold players can't do. He kept it up for about half the game, ridiculous aerial work, carrying the ball in on the underside of his car, multi-touch aerials tucked into the top corners of the net, etc. Nobody was touching it. It was impressive but annoying because it was obvious he was going to be unranked, just smurfing through, and I was going to go down a division as a result. He backed it down a notch when it was about 5-0 but was still murdering us single-handedly. Final score ten million to two. Felt like it anyway.
Interestingly enough, Rocket League does in fact have a central server located in Dallas, Texas. Unfortunately it is for some reason grouped up with US-West, so it is really just random as to whether or not you get a central server.
My biggest problem with Rocket League is ironically the thing that I love most about the game and that's *the people* I love those games were you play so well with the other person, you both are respecting each-others play, you're both playing off of each-other, and you're syncing with each-other, all without saying a word (most of the time). Games where your team-mate might miss a goal, or you might miss a save, but keep playing like nothing happened without being salty...Those games make some of the craziest clips possible, and keep me playing. On the other hand, playing with people on the complete opposite spectrum is incredibly aggravating. Those games where your team-mate cuts rotation on you, doesn't rotate at all, passes to the opposition, what a saves their own team for not blocking a shot that they themselves were the reason behind, not taking responsibility, blaming their team for their own fuck ups, and failing to see that at the end of the game - we're all just human fucking beings. So I miss an open net, I don't need "What a Play!" spammed a hundred fucking times down my throat, the same way you don't need "What a save!" spammed everytime we get scored on. but above all else - I hate the throwers. The people who intentionally fuck your game over, then intentionally throw the game by not playing, leaving, or intentionally owngoaling.
One absolutely annoying point that I have not seen anyone adress is how unstable the teams are. I mean how often has it happened to you that your playing 3´s or 2´s and in the middle of the game you get notified that one of your mates has left the team allthou he is still playing with you and did nothing to leave the team. Alot of times I forget to reinvite and search a new game before remembering and I am stuck with a random mate while my freind is in freeplay. This happens too often its pathetic like 2 to 5 times in a session of 2 - 3 hours, seriously annoying and its never mentioned like its not an issue.
My friend started playing when the game went free to play. He was bronze and played against Diamonds cause he played with me who was diamond. It made it really demotivating for us,
About party issue, a simple solution existes : ranking per team. Having a new rank for each very team in wich you play solves the balance problem. Starcraft works this way, and makes playing with any friend you have a pleasure
I know how to fix the smurfing problem, charge $29.99 for the game. The quality of content has gone WAY down hill since Epic took over. I miss the old days.
I feel like devs specifically avoid these videos. Like these vids always point out vital things that would improve the game tremendously and they're just never added or improved on. Especially voice chat it's been in the game since launch and never fixed.
I can attest to the group queuing thing. I'm gc1 and one of my good friends is about diamond 2. We both made new accounts and only played together on them for a long time so that we could play ranked against teams that actually made it fair. We sat around high c2/low c3 for like 4 seasons straight. So clearly there's a formula and I don't think it's that complicated idk. I would get called out for smurfing on that account but it's legit the only way we could enjoy the game together. Hope they can find a way to fix that at some point...
The same thing happened to me I was playing with my cousin who got rl in 2018 and we were playing in a tournament and one of them was a diamond tournament winner, and we’re both Golds!
Related to the point about queuing with different ranks, the most frustrating thing for me is solo queuing and seeing you have a party of two on your team. It's always either a guy who is your rank, and a guy who is 8 ranks lower, or it's two of the worst ballchasers you've ever seen and they can't play 2v2 because literally neither of them do any defending. Psyonix give me the option to not have partied teammates, please.
I don't know if its server lag. But sometimes there is a bigger input lag. I am on an xbox , so I guess that is why. But that is definitely number 1 for me. It happens more noticable when the demo explosion is happening. My ping is fine though, like 30 ping in most games. But you need to time and be so precise that when that input delay happens it is just really annoying.
There should be a thing that the mmr averages with your team like both of your friends have a 500mmr and you have a 1000mmr it should average to 666mmr it won’t fix the smurfing problem but it will make playing with friends more fun
I wish we had a massive open coliseum that could hold 1000 players and allow for global chat for us to trade. And 100 player demolition derby, battle Royale style
I kinda stopped playing Rocket League because playing online got boring. But I swear if workshops gets added to all platforms I'd be playing the game non-stop
Haha. I feel like the majority of people are actually a lot nicer in person or when speaking with them. At least anytime I hit people up over discord it’s a super chill and fun experience. It’s so much easier to be toxic over text. But yeah there would be so much negative stuff you would hear and I get why they don’t have it.
They do have some central-ish servers. I live in Texas, which is about as E/W central as it gets. I only queue into USE and I average 35ish ping. Every now and then, once a week or so (since I don’t get to play that much) I’m single digits, so it’s gotta be in Dallas or Austin or whatever.
Dude yes the mmr party thing, my friends won’t play the game with me, I have friends that are champs and friends that are in gold, I’m a diamond so none of them ever wanna play with me 😭
Yeah, when you are shadowing net and someone gets demoed right in between you and the opponent. Then the opponent can easily just flick it into the net and you have no idea where the ball is bc of the freaking smoke 😢
The thing i most hate is the rank system in tournaments. Champ with randoms are too bad that like a gold playing. Now i dropping to Diamond and diamonds actually like a silver
I understand the smurfing. I was playing with friends and I’m plat 1, and we went up against s3 champ tourney winners who were somehow ranked plat. It does get really annoying
If they didn’t go off the highest player then it would make smurfing even worse. And if you are playing with a higher person use that to push yourself into a higher skill level
Well in my case , I played a lot more and got to champ 1 while my friend had less time to play and is know plat 3. So now when we play together, we sometimes just get outplayed hard. But I have to say I only dropped to Diamond 3 div 2 and last time we won a lot and I got back to champ 1. So I guess even with the difference in car control , when you rotate well and can communicate you can still beat a lot of teams at higher ranks.
I agree with most of this, and i also semi agree on the fact that smurfs may be bad for some people and i get that its frustrating, but I don't really mind getting stomped on by better players because it proves to me that there is a lot i need to work on, and playing vs better players will make you better at the game a lot faster. For example if you take two plat 2 players and put one of them with a Champ 1 for a month and have the other plat just play vs other plats, the plat thats playing way out of his league will most likely improve more than the normal plat, due to the fact that the plat in higher rank needs to addapt much more to the faster and more organised play. Thats atleast what i think, feel free to dissagree with me or give me your take on it
Number one for me is teammates for me because they are toxic screeching people who give up at 1:0 after boost starving me at 4:30, or get mad at me for me when I make a mistake after I don’t call them out for own-goaling
I think RL is an enjoyable game, but when you que up in touries and basicly know that your going to lose first match, it's kind of frustrating. There should be some sort of new system that calculates if you should be allowed into a tour.
I too don't like having to have the same MMR as friends so it will be fun to play, so when I hit champ the other day I ghosted my diamond friend who helped me get to d3
imagine thinking diamond 3 and champ are different.... bruh its one rank and you would ghost your friend whos one rank below. he helped you get d3 now you help him get champ
About the hitboxes, I'd love it if they made cars that 100% match the hitboxes, it would be ugly but it would be the best way to learn accuracy because hitting with a thing you don't see, I still don't get it..., like what's the point. Overall I feel they have made this came way more difficult than it needs to be. Also, no mention of camera issues? The fact it's so hard to know what's going on around? The lack of mini map to know where all players are at any time?
Kansas city, mo... pretty much the direct middle of the country and all I play is rl. Central servers would be sweet but google fiber handles both east and west well for me.
I hate casual bots bc when ur teammate ragequit (4min left and ur loosing 1-0) that bot will own goal, bump u, steal ur boost and do other things that the bumblebee bot wont do. Why do they not add it to the game?
Do people have a problem with mmr? I’m on console so I can’t SEE actual mmr, but me, a plat 2, plays with my D2 friend and usually what happens is we play against one D2 and one P2. Maybe it gets harder at higher ranks, but that’s my experience. I never seemed to have those issues.
yeah, every now and than i get a server where i have huge amounts of packet loss. controller inconsistancy and ball inconsistancy annoy me. Invisiable hit boxes on the ball and the cars is kinda wierd. how the wall phsyics are sometimes. how it seems like the wall has a built in magnet that defies natrual laws of phsyics. how flicking the ball seems way more inconsistant now. wierd hit registration with the cars and ball. opponents cars demoing me when they drive by me on my screen. all sorts of dumb shit happens in this game
The central servers thing, yes absolutely please, im in US Central and i average between 90-150 ping per match and have to queue for both west and east, my friend who's in US West, averages around 20-50, it's frustrating
Honestly, the smurfing and MMR issue you mentioned kind of go hand in hand. Yeah there are people who specifically smurf for the sole purpose of smurfing, but there are plenty of people that I know that make secondary accounts to be able to play with their lower rated friends because there's no way for their friends to have fun and play with them.
After 2 years when this video was posted, Rocket League only get's less populated. With trading and potentially training removed in December, the content features of the game will be gone. Also another point of importance is how difficult it is to get new items. It's either locked by credits or you'll have to hope for it to drop in one of the crates you get which is luck based. And since some are locked behind credits, players are trying to trade items for that resource to be able to buy their favourite items. But since trading will be gone soon, i hope there are other ways to get credits. Probably not and it'll end with the game dying. Which sucks for a game with so many possibilities.
I feel like with party mmr they should divide it in half so it’s somewhat fair, because for someone who is gold like me playing with nun Gc2 friend isn’t as fun anymore
Thank god u mentioned voice chat. RL is seriously lacking content for the game. The single most important thing for a game is to create content that content creators can take advantage of. Which will bring appeal to everyday gamers they could utilize a plethora of ideas from other games. For example the air racing mini game in Minecraft. They’re has already been a “drone racing” league on twitch but adding it into the game would create diversity across their portfolio. This benifits them as well because it allows for new partnerships and sponsors. They could also add the long awaited volleyball game mode (TEAM USA Partnetship?) . As for voice chat. Dead mics when you kill someone??? Would make hearing others rage would be very entertaining. And then cross team coms open after a goal so u can tell them how washed they are. Similar or exactly how S&D is in cod. Psyonix/Epic has such a wide variety for what they can do if they pull away a little from reskined items and focused on the game. They could even bring the workshop over from fortnite creating a platform for content creators to make a hide and seek map that all platforms can use and not need a plug in. Thank you for listening to my Ted talk.
my main reason for smurfing is to play with my friends so theyre not playing against high ranks and i just chill and try make their experience fun and not smash the other team
I feel like people that complain about having more game modes are always people that are content creators. They want a reason to produce more content. I play rocket league for the competition and to get better. It’s like basketball. I don’t care that basketball is the same every time I play. If I get on then I want to play standard rocket league. Even when they release these limited time game modes I play them a couple times at most. I think most people do as well and that’s why they don’t care about making them a priority.
I just started the video. The thing that's making me mad is people who purposely throw matches in competitive. Like they scoring goals for the other team as if they are on that team.
Another thing i hate is the lack of custom maps on console. Like if skyrim which is 9 years old can get mods ongto console then surely you could put custom maps in RL console
About the mmr thing im not sure that's a problem anymore because when me and my buddy play im DIA 3 and he's plat 3 we get DIA 1 and plat 3 lobbies, is this just luck?
To go with number four if u win a match against higher ranked opponents you don’t gain more mmr because me and my friend are like 2 or 3 ranks off and we win because I’m around the same rank as him just not ranking up as fast
I’m so glad you gave me the chance to never lag

@@iamBriii But unranked tournaments don't have ranked matchmaking
@@christiantaylor1495 you can filter custom tournaments by ranks. If you don’t find any, start your own and join it.
@@iamBriii Nobody job be and it takes too long whereas just having it a permanent mode would allow for more reps
I've had so many RL friends I tried to get into the game. Every single one stopped with the same excuse, "matchmaker is broken". They don't understand MMR or smurfing, they just assume the game is broken.
Players who deliberately throw the game & actively turn a 3v3 into a 4v2 just to rank down really f*ks me off
Add the option to never queue with a random again. I had 3 games in a row with the same teammate who threw every game.
Don’t penalize your MMR when your random leaves in beginning of match.
Add a 1 time rematch mode in competitive. Only once to avoid boosting.
Someone had to talk about this stuff publicly. Thanks Fluump, I know it took a lot of courage
11 seconds in and I’m already laughing
Gimme the entire skyscraper
They should make smurfing a lot more difficult. I would say put the MAC-adres and IPadress of every player in a database, check the MAC address and IPadress of the player against this database, is there a match?, then ban straight away. By checking against MAC address you at least not prevent people in the same network of not being able to play on another account. The only issue that arises with this is that you can't share a pc with, for example, your brother that plays rocket league too. (because of that MAC-adres and IPadress being the same). It's not waterproof, since MAC addresses can be spoofed too, but it will be a lot harder this way. There needs to be done something.
calm down kid you are just lowelo nab haha
5:17 I didn't know fluump was in that musty video
I have a question.
Is it ok to own a second account for freestyle practice? Only playing in casual, of course. The opponents will be much lower leveled than you, but it’s in casual
The problem comes when they're in competitive.
Casual is casual - nothing means anything there so go nuts, just keep it out of competitive
@@Knight0fTheSky Ok thank you
@@Knight0fTheSky it's still annoying but if you don't score open nets and give your opponents time with the ball as well you're good to go :)
In current stage of the game you can create new account and just play ranked (you're friend has to queue) and you don't even need 10th lvl. I hate it but it's just how it is. People are using it to smurf and it's annoing af but that's just how it is.
Everyone love Jesus
How refreshing to see a piece of honest journalism. Excellently presented in a balanced and factual way. Very well done.

My biggest problem with Rocket League is ironically the thing that I love most about the game and that's *the people*
I love those games were you play so well with the other person, you both are respecting each-others play, you're both playing off of each-other, and you're syncing with each-other, all without saying a word (most of the time).
Starcraft works this way, and makes playing with any friend you have a pleasure
the thing with the bigger map, is ya you will try it for like a week and then want to move onto something else, just like every game mode
4:50 so accurate like my champ friend would only do solo plays and i just sat back watching…
Nobody’s gonna talk about how he still hit a Phillip reset despite lagging
Damn, don't you just love it when you can Phillip reset? jk
Reusing the same clip for #5 was hilarious!
I wish we had a massive open coliseum that could hold 1000 players and allow for global chat for us to trade.
And
100 player demolition derby, battle Royale style
I kinda stopped playing Rocket League because playing online got boring. But I swear if workshops gets added to all platforms I'd be playing the game non-stop
If rocket league had actual voice chat, everyone would be spamming what a save irl.
Lmao rl players get tilted over pre typed chats imagine how they’d react to personal attacks
@@kevinhedman2314 that is a good point but have u ever played in black ops voice chats
Dude yes the mmr party thing, my friends won’t play the game with me, I have friends that are champs and friends that are in gold, I’m a diamond so none of them ever wanna play with me 😭
The “BOOM” thing after you have demoed a guy, is the most frustrating thing ever..
I definitely approve for central servers
I understand the smurfing. I was playing with friends and I’m plat 1, and we went up against s3 champ tourney winners who were somehow ranked plat. It does get really annoying
"We don't want all of that toxicity" Yet you can name your club whatever you want! I've seen harsher names out there than what's actually said online.
@@IAmSkyrider yo chill it was a joke lol, i still play with him
About the hitboxes, I'd love it if they made cars that 100% match the hitboxes, it would be ugly but it would be the best way to learn accuracy because hitting with a thing you don't see, I still don't get it..., like what's the point. Overall I feel they have made this came way more difficult than it needs to be.
Also, no mention of camera issues? The fact it's so hard to know what's going on around? The lack of mini map to know where all players are at any time?
Hey what part of hawaii are you from? Or which island do u live on?
Kansas city, mo... pretty much the direct middle of the country and all I play is rl. Central servers would be sweet but google fiber handles both east and west well for me.
#4: I literally only play 3s with my friends to keep our mmr the same, we're within 100 mmr despite being differently skilled.
That outtro was sickkk!!
I hate casual bots bc when ur teammate ragequit (4min left and ur loosing 1-0) that bot will own goal, bump u, steal ur boost and do other things that the bumblebee bot wont do. Why do they not add it to the game?
At 4:12 I got this strong feeling of deja vu... Have you used that clip in another video before or what?
1 second ago: I’m not just gonna complain about lag
1 second later: number 10: lag
The central servers thing, yes absolutely please, im in US Central and i average between 90-150 ping per match and have to queue for both west and east, my friend who's in US West, averages around 20-50, it's frustrating
There technically are central servers but they are mixed in with the East/West servers and typically are atrocious.
Why isn’t heatseeker in extra modes? Extra modes feels super dry at this point and the daily player count really shows that.
7:44 damn you be making Athena jealous
It's perspective, i saw an DT
My number 1 would be how i still lose mmr if a teammate leaves because were down one or something etc
so sick thanks hopuly rocketleauge will see this
my main reason for smurfing is to play with my friends so theyre not playing against high ranks and i just chill and try make their experience fun and not smash the other team
smurfing is easy to fix. Verify accounts with a phone number like CS does, put an hour requirement in game, etc
6:05 yes, i came 1 time against pulse temple🙃 ipposible to win
the lag when someone leaves or joins a game
I'm weak asf over the sizz reference at the beginning
Here in egypt we get 100 ping in the nearest servers, eu, i would like if they make a north africa server
I like the fact that you can do anything and just try things with mechanical skill
I live in Hawaii too and the ping is pretty bad as well
"rocket league is like basketball"
Said fluump while playing a soccer game with cars.
Laughs in hoops
To go with number four if u win a match against higher ranked opponents you don’t gain more mmr because me and my friend are like 2 or 3 ranks off and we win because I’m around the same rank as him just not ranking up as fast
