What's your favorite Eurovision song ever? Also take a look to the playlist with the recap of ALL THE COUNTRIES IN THE HISTORY of Eurovision: ruclips.net/p/PLrZu1dFffZfAdjuwnt4wt3DAzG4mgb7ro Last year I could finally share this project in which I had been working for months. This is an idea I had in mind for years but never ended up happening due to all the amount of time you need for something like this and my pc capabilities. But after so much patience and effort, I was able to put together all the songs that have ever been performed at Eurovision; from the very beginning 14 songs in 1956 in Lugano to the 37 sung in Malmö this year 2024. I hope you all enjoy this video and give it all the love it deserves. Enjoy and let’s keep sharing our love for Eurovision together
Thoughts while watching: - how on earth has Albania ended 17th so many times? - Armenia is lowkey the powerhouse of the caucasian countries - how has Australia gotten 9th place like half the times they competed? - if electric fields had promoted their songs more in terms of the actual Australian culture and aboriginal history, they could have made it to the semifinals. I’ve lived in Australia and it was so AWESOME to see aboriginal representation on stage especially when considering aboriginal history in Australia - none of my friends understood the significance of it - there’s been multiple ‘Maria Magdalena’ songs? - Austria going from 2x NQ to winning from 2012 to 2014 is iconic honestly - there’s been multiple songs called ‘soldiers of love’? - so THAT’s what Barbara Dex wore? Honestly not as bad as I’d thought? - rhythm inside is still an absolute BOP - Loïc Nottet would have been part of the 2024 viral group hug if he’d been in it this year - we need Bulgaria back in the contest! - Ela deserved to qualify - Under Stjernerne på Himlen might be the most underrated eac song ever - DR needs to get their shit together again - marry me is still a bop - CIRCUS MIRCUS! (I completely forgot this song lol) - Georgia kinda deserved to qualify in 2023 tho - Germany has had some bops through time? Like diese Welt? Ghengis khan? Johnny Blue? BOPS - everyone is always talking about how esc is not about ‘the music’ anymore because the performance also matters, so it’s kinda interesting to see how the performance has started to matter more and more through the years, as it was possible to do more things? Like look at the 80’s performances and compare them with the 60’s? They’re as different as today’s and the 90’s - BLACK SMOKE DID NOT DESERVE LAST IN 2015! - Hungary should come back go esc - WAIT ICELAND HAD AN ARTIST CALLED BEATHOVEN WITH A SONG CALLED SOKRATES? Big fan xD - Iceland would have won in 2020. - the Hatari to Dadi Freyr transition is so funny, but also strangely makes so much sense lol - maps is honestly such an underrated song! Love it so much! - oooooooh BE HAPPY - oh yeah, Dana International had a comeback in 2011, completely forgot about that whoops - Golden Boy is a bop - the early 2000’s fashion is really something - uh I’m over halfway - Luxembourg and comebacks is a nice mix. 2x back to back last then winning in 1961? Icons - also this years comeback let’s goo - Poupée de cire, poupée de son is still a banger - OMG THEY DID THE SAME WITH 2x DEAD LAST THEN COMEBACK WIN IN 1972 FOLLOWED BY ANOTHER WIN IN 1973? ICONS! - okay but for a country with 3 official languages, French is BERY dominating in the songs from Luxembourg - Not Malta finishing last their first 2 years in the contest💀 - Zdob și Zdub the icons - also Moldova does really have a talent to send meme-quality songs - also the fact that the last 3 artists from Moldova all have participated before is just great lol. - I wonder which language has been most used historically in Eurovision? Lately it’s been English of course, but French was sung SOOO much back in the day, the two must be almost equal - I know Morocco only competed once but why is the clip so long lol? - birds is still a slay 11 years later honestly - yup, i still love Arcade - We were robbed from not seeing Joost in the final this year - on the bright side, Joost had said he was going to do something never done before, and as he is the first artist who has been DQ’d after qualifying for the final, promise kept? - dance alone was low key a bop though - also going from worst result to best the year after? Iconic - Norway’s the 15th most successful country? Aren’t they also the country with most last places? (Or most nil point or something like that?) - oh they are, cool xD - wait Norway also had a Mata Hari Song? Lol - also every Norwegian winner is simply iconic - have a feeling Norway will end on top in the coming years. Like they’ve sent so many bops recently (To be continued as I watch the video)
Sandra Kim was indeed 13 at the time. She lied about her age and said she was 15. It was Nathalie Pacque (France 1989) who was 11 at the time of her competing.
The contrast between Finland's previous entries vs the one that finally won them a title is so funny to me. Lordi completely changed the perception of the kinds of songs that can win Eurovision.
It's funny how older songs of a country come after newer more upbeat songs of a previews country - the transition is strange. Thank you for the video - I bet it took ages to edit.

I started my day today by waking up to belgiums 2019 Eurovision entry and watched a new video by ESC Samuel about all the songs in Eurovision history. Noticing the time getting on, I got washed and got my clothes on and headed out to work. After a productive 8 hour shift earning some Soldi I went home and had a cup of tea and baked a cake with Latvias 2014 representatives. Then I made dinner, a baby lasagna, washed up while watching Polands entry from 2014 and had another shower. I then I went to sleep after a hard but productive day and woke up the morning and the same ESC Samuels video was the first video to pop up on my recommended 😭😭😭. Then I listened to Hera Bjork cos who the hell wouldn’t 🔥
THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO SAMUEL!!!! my absolute ever favorite didn't make it to Eurovision due to the foreign jury in Melodifestivalen, 2013 Sweden 2nd place - Yohio and Heartbreak Hotel! other than that, i'm all in for Lordi, can't top that, sorry
Samu, you're insane for this! Okay, all jokes aside. I'm very impressed by this, I can't even imagine how long it took to make this video. How long did it render btw?
From a night to a morning. I did the initial project in Jan-May 2023 with daily work. After this, I will update every year only adding the songs of the new editions
Fun fact: Bosnia & Herzegowina is the only country that had 2 diffeent flags at Eurovision. Their last flag change was in 2007 their Eurovision debur was in 1993 in their last eurovision was in 2016
So which exact entries are included here? The Wikipedia list of 1,680 + 37 entries in 2024 + 41 entries in 2020 only add up to 1,758. Adding the 11 songs that failed to qualify in 1993 and 1996 gives 1,769. So in that case, is the thumbnail a typo, or was one of the lists miscounted, or is there some other song not counted by Wikipedia I failed to take into account?
Serbia and Montenegro 2006 is the one that makes your list 1,759 and probably you didn’t include. Most of the sites dont recognize S&M 2006 as an official entry, but Eurovision.tv does and placed them dead last in the semifinal with 0 points.
Hello there! First of all, congratulations to the author of the video! This must have been a very difficult job, requiring a lot of time, effort and dedication.💯 But now that you have finished your work and presented us with your incredible work, you deserve all the praise! Well done! 😄😇❣❣❤🔥 I watched the whole video, although I have to admit I skip 5-10 seconds on every song, so it took me 2 and a half hours. I thought at the beginning, who is going to watch all this? But it soon became very interesting to me. Even though I'm the biggest fan of Eurovision in my country, maybe even wider, I didn't think to watch all this. But now I can call myself the biggest Eurovision fan in the Balkans hahahahaha! I'm kidding ofc :) I would like to write an essay about this video, about each country separately. I will do it on the blog and leave a link here in a comment after I finish that essay. I have long wanted to write something about Eurovision, which would be my personal view of Eurovision itself and everything connected with it. This video gave me reason and inspiration for such a thing. I hope the author doesn't mind?
