- In this video I show you how simple and easy it is to REMOVE the front shock. Yes I used used a electric gun but it's just as easy with hand tools just take a bit longer. I wasn't able to disassemble the shock because i did not have the compressor tool ex. shop.advanceaut...

I understand this video is old but thanks bro in 2023 you helped me out I was doing a front strut on a civic for a customer and I did as you said and it worked god bless you 🙏🏽
Awesome Im glad that it could still help you out
4/30/23 I’m doin my civic also!! 💯
I'm glad this is still helping people out
nice 2000 civic
Good video! If you were to install that fork bolt backwards could you get a noise while turning?
Not sure. Maybe it's threaded on one side and not the other. Unless there is a nut it can go either way but better to put it the way it came out
@@DirtydogMech yes it's on a 97 civic front it has a nut on one side and long bolt on other. Someone changed it before I looked at other side but it's opposite way
@@decisions139 if it hasn't giving you an issue before just put it back the way it came out. I can't remember how mine was
@@DirtydogMech ok thank you!
Do you need to remove the upper cradle?
No because I removed and replace the whole assembly
Ur so lucky dude none of your bolts were seized to shit
Usually, if I know I'm going be working on a particular part or component, I will try and spray penetrating fluid on the nuts and bolts a day or two a head of the actual job. That helps
good video. :)
You don't need a spring compressor just use the cars weight and a bar to hold the strut in place and a block of wood under the wheel hub Jack the car up let that block of wood sit right there use the bar to hold it in place so don't move around and then lower the jack with the tire off worked for me
Good vid. Clear, concise and made easy. Thankyou.
thanks. glad i could helped
good job!,just thought id add ,do not use a impact on any spring compressor tool! do it by hand only for safety reasons!
Now i know how to do the job for doing my front end suspension looks easy to do.
Thank you for your video. Plz keep posting. Thanks
how to install this suspension, mine it like the suspension stuck and cannot move.
Do we need to disassemble the shock? I see them sold already assembled. - 1998 Honda Civic
Yes they do sell them fully assembled with spring and top hat that easier
nice 2000 civic front strut spacer
Athao Thao what do you mean by that?
He wants you to lower it
I can tell my '98 Civic needs new shocks by the way it rides but is there a way to know if it's the front, rear or both that need replacing? Also do you know where I can find new shocks inexpensively?
+GreenAshR47 hey whats up man. I mean I replaced mine because my car is 100k miles everything was squeaking and rattling suspension wise. A good way to check is like you said when your driving if you feel the car bouncing continuously as your driving, loud thumps when driving over bumps, if you were to see the shocks leaking, you could press down on the car and see how it rebounds and see if it still bounces when you let your hands off of it. i saw trust your gut instinct. If you have the time, money, resources to do it then might as well do all 4 shocks
When I replaced my shocks i realized i needed to replace like bushings later on
As far as replacing them , factory shocks will always be more $ . I would say to stick to not the most cheapest shocks but at least the middle priced shocks and with deep pockets the skies the limit on shocks. Places like Advanced auto parts, Auto Zone sell good replacement parts. Just do some general research and youll find good parts
What is a shock
