I put a new carrier bearing on my 94 chevy 1500 today and i dont have the boot on mine. there is a metal ring that flops out of the bearing into the shaft, thats why i replaced the old one, it was squeeking and I saw the loose ring. It pushes back in but works out again, i was told i need the boot to keep the ring in place inside the bearing. Whats the boot called and how do I go about getting one? Thank you
Cobra Commander when you say "boot" what are you referring to? There is a rubber sleeve that is corrugated, it covers part of the drive shaft, that is called the boot. As far as getting one, any parts store should be able to order one if they don't have it in stock. If not, check with your local junk yard, you should be able to pull one off of another truck.
I didn’t see anything on replacing the carrier bearing all I seen was how to remove and replace the drive shaft so why post how to remove carrier bearing?
What size bearing is it? I’m getting two different sizes from calling folks
Very good info. Wat r the numbers on the slip yoke for that truck
Thanks buddy...doing this job myself today!
Came back looking the same just as loose. Did they tell you it was okay
I have to have the press? I'm stranded in B.F.E if I can't fix this and have no way to take it to a shop
Don't be so crazy about the clamps. Use zip ties. The one on my truck are 10 years old. Lasted longer than the bearing.
What size are those clamps around the boot/sleeve?
