Weird to see Glastonbury town so empty. I went there a couple months back. I miss it already especially knowing it’s essentially on my doorstep and I can’t visit (same county).

I have a tall Chinese wedding cabinet that I have named "My Cabinet of Wonders." When my grandchildren open the doors, they never know what they will find. There is a tree inside the wardrobe side that I decorate with lights and seasonal decorations. Making magic for children (at school or at home) brings me the greatest joy. Leaving treasures of minerals under a fern in the front yard for my little friend who lives down the road, helps him get through these challenging times. Make magic for others.

Okay I'll tell you one of mine. A few years ago a girlfriend shared this... once a month, pick a day and do something special for yourself. Could be anything... buy yourself a trinket, or indulge in a food you really like, or set aside an hour to have a cup of tea and sit on the porch. Just so long as you identify it as a special. I'm not sure why.. but it improves my self esteem tenfold! Oh and there's No guilt.

No guilt. I’m too old now to care. But pampering oneself is indeed a treat. And we all need pampering. Guilty pleasure is buying a craft supply whether I need it or not (paper, paint, a journal). Have a wonderful day and treat yourself.

I've been journaling since I was 11 years old. That was the same year I received my first camera. I started making photo albums that turned into scrap books. For the past many years I have let the two come together. But since March I haven't been able to. I'm so nervous and can't settle into my art. You have inspired me with the permission you give yourself in writing at the front of yourself. Thank you for inspiring me 😊.

I have 3 artificial pine trees in my sanctuary. Each decorated and with fairy lites. They remain all year long. One has crystals and birds, another is angels and hand blown ornaments. The largest, 9 feet, has nature theme with seasonal ornaments that I move around depending on the time of year. They make me joyful.

I’m rereading this from a year ago. For many years I drove past an elderly lady’s yard and trees. She always decorated both for the appropriate season/holiday. I loved it. Even stopped one day when things hadn’t changed. Sadly she had passed away and her children were getting ready to sell the property. They were happy to know her efforts had brought pleasure. So know your decorating is bringing pleasure to others as well.

👍👍Wendy, so glad you make a point of modifying some kinds of "rules" (mainly self-imposed) for the benefit of one's mental, emotional, or physical health! We can not all do everything at the same pace nor to the same degree. To be balanced, I believe we should do all we can to the best of our ability & to the extent possible as individuals. Otherwise, we may feel frustrated & see ourselves as failures. In the end, we should have a feeling of accomplishment & satisfaction!🤗

If I need extra, the abdominal meridians extend the coverage nicely. I'm also seeking out tea, soft things against my skin and extra naps as needed. No Inktober for me. These things don’t tend to work for me. I don’t like ‘having’ to do something every day. I am more instinctive, and have to be in the mood. Also this is the end of Dec...I’m working backwards more or less (a bit haphazardly) through your videos. As for taking breaks: making tea, watching you on RUclips (really!), altered book or other art journal artists, cooking. Watching, because I’m still a beginner at this, and learning. Stress relief, difficult considering I live in the US and things one could count on as being stable and recognizable just aren’t. I do meditate every day, and take a nap. Mostly because I don’t sleep all through the night. I also take anti-anxiety pills (a mild one) just to keep the lid on emotions that can fly out of control so quickly. If I miss a pill it can be felt immediately. I ignore headlines as much as I can, my husband gives me the executive summary. 😁 So I know what I need to. If I look at too many headlines I get overwhelmed and stressed, sometimes badly. I need calm, a feeling of safety and to be grounded. Music helps too. Your channel is restful and emotionally supportive. Watching you paint is restful, plus I have learned a few techniques. I like to listen when you have something to say to us. It’s always interesting. Thank you for doing this, in just the way you do! .

Love the fish Wendy so lovely to see you doing art. Question...often, quite often if you see a pile of art works you can tell they are from the same artist, although different they all have a similar look if you know what I mean..like yours..if there were 100 paintings on display and 20 were yours it would be easy to pick them..how does an artist do that? Every single one of my painting look different.. is that even a question. Glad to hear you saying you were heading home to have some you time...do you ever take a whole day off no cameras, no art, no video showing what you are doingor where you've been..YOU & JAMES time?????? What do I do in lockdown (or did becase we havent been in lockdown in Western for quite a while now - even though the rest of the country is going to pot!!!) I watch videos of the Unexpected Gypsy what else 🤭🤭 while I do my own art..may I ask how you came about your art name please..was it to do with your travelling and house sitting (my hubby and I house sat for 8 years) Have a lovely relaxing day doing what you love most💜🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘

My first year of Inktober I quit after the first week. I was so disappointed with myself and my work. I’ve since forgiven myself and decided to only do the prompts that interest me. I’ve given myself permission to create as great or as awful art as I am capable and for it to be OK. I’m only creating for me. I’ve also not committed to a schedule. @@theunexpectedgypsy yes I have been so blessed to draw for a living for children’s publishing. It’s all connected, ironically. I was able to “break in” with illustrations created with felt , fabrics and threads . That eventually evolved into digital illustration and now I find that I’m gravitating back to the fibers again.
But all of that to say, I’m sitting here this morning having a lovely coffee , crocheting, watching your beautiful channel and nodding with agreement through it all. 🙏🏻💕💕💕 I adore your channel and I see I’m not alone in this xx

Every year I say to myself “ you gotta do the Inktober this year.” And I love, love October in fact my birthday is the 10th. Then October comes around and I say “eh. Not this year.” I think it goes back to my 12 years of Catholic school and following rules. And guess what???? I draw, paint, design everyday. It’s rare that I don’t draw or do something on a daily basis. It’s that word obedience.

I not sure about Unexpected Gypsy, more like Unexpected Witch. Everything you're saying and doing is a Pagan path of a craft but not fully into opening circles etc. I wish I could be as free like you are. Your also so lucky to live close to Glastonbury which I've always wanted to go but being disabled I need to organise everything just to go to my GP, so going to Glastonbury will be like an army manoeuvre. lol

Love the song, what is it? Edit: found it in the description, Explain it at the coffee shop, Ashton Edminster, I’d never heard that before. Love it, if you like Ashton you’ll like Roo Savill. Do you know her music. I loved her voice in a freeman’s advert and googled freeman’s advert to find the song, it’s called Can’t stand the rain. It confused me because it said it was by Dan and Adam Skinner and Dave James, weirdly no mention of the singer, it took me ages to find out who was singing it, luckily someone had written it in the comments.ruclips.net/video/_Tq_wYrUlYU/видео.html I have a habit of finding my favourite music in journaling videos. I discovered another of my favourite songs in a journal flip through, Flightless Bird by Iron and Wine.

I’m now 64 and my maternal grandmother made sure I would never become a lefty (political or person), she did such a dishonor to me. My art has become so much more. And I’ve lived my life on the left.

It’s a mystery to me why being a leftie was considered so wrong.... I’m so sorry this happened to you, I’m 50 and think I just missed out on that. All related to right brain creativity too so I’m so glad you are honouring your left side! Living life on he left, I love that. 🌷🌷
