Those are methods and variables which can be accessed without creating any objects
Or
Accessing the methods or variables without being called explicitly
It is because if static is missing u will be given an error when compiled. Because u didn't creat an object

Sir is static block equivalent to a default constructor ?? Since both of them execute without calling them ?

Default constructor is created by JVM if you don't define them..it is related with object not class on the other hand static block loaded when class is loaded by a class loader. Both are different.

Static block will be executed when class will be load, default constructor will be executed when you create an object.
