My dad lived in Eccles as a kid, I’ve just asked him about this and he said, when we was around 10 years old about 1971... The building had a double glazed window that housed a bee hive between the window panes... He said him and friends would visit it often to see it and he remembers the building well
Thanks for reminding me about the bees. I’d completely forgot about them. Not surprising really as I must nearly the same age as your dad but left Eccles nearly 45 years ago.

Another great edit Clarky 👌 The blue box by Hardy & Padmore Ltd is what's known as a "feeder pillar" and correctly as some have commented is a cabinet for electrical equipment, mounted in the street and controlling the electrical supply to a number of houses etc. Dates back to around the 1920s so also possibly to do with the old trams 👍
That blue pillar were called Lucy boxes they feed a power source to run the trams and trolley buses, the square ones were called feeder boxes they were to power street lights
Great video once again. The electrical box looks like an old transformer box for the old tramways. There is one at the trough at Audenshaw near to where I live. It has listed building status.
@@TheUrbanCollectiveWeFilmIt I've not heard of it being knocked over. It is a similar to what was in your video. Same colour but slightly bigger. The horsing trough was hit by a car but that was years ago.
Maybe it's an old electrical box? This company made decorative poles, street lamps, electrical boxes etc. Absolutely fantastic video. Very interesting exploration.🎥❤👍🏻
Thank you, Lady, and yeah I reckon you could be right an old transformer box. We found a very similar looking object which indeed was one! Anyway have a nice weekend thank you for tuning in.

What happens with these old buildings some developers buy them and deliberately leave them to rot etc then they can show its not viable to lests say rebuild the damage so they get planning permission to pull it down then and build what they want as the listed status is just applied to the building its a damn shame this is allowed to happen

There was a similar cast iron electrical box at The Trough junction in Audenshaw. It was an electrical transformer for Manchester Tram Corporation. Sadly it was demolished by a car a few weeks ago. The ancient horse trough was also destroyed.
That blue cast iron object is a service box for either gas or electricity, Known in some parts of the uk as a lucy box or as I would say lecky box .another great vlog 👍🤘👌
Cheers Nidge and yes it is pal we actuaslly tracvd its origin on facebook and found old photos of its original position feeding power to the tramlines!
St Mary's Church is older, at least the Brickwork but it was partially rebuilt in 1820. It dates back to 1300s. Monk's hall dates back to around 1700. The oldest know manmade 'structure' is in 'The Three Sisters Park' with 3 rocks dating to roman times, and a roman footpath.
The place was certainly active in the 1300s. In latter years ( probably 70/80s) it was a museum, and in 1997 became a restaurant for five years. It was then scheduled to be redeveloped into flats, but that never happened and fell into the final disrepair. It is another example of Salford Council’s attitude towards history, and were never concerned about it. Their only concern was making money, which brought about “Media City.” It is still a terrible crime ridden city.
I believe it was listed so like we've seen before they let it rot until they can take it down. Chinese billionaire bought the Royal Oak in Eccles but didn't know that was listed (including bar) so he's left that to rot now
I've heard the rumours of tunnels which go through the old Hare & Hounds, Grapes to Monks Hall and I believe the cellars of those pubs (Hares now pound shop) have bricked up entrances
