I know right, and these are some of the most obvious differences! There are many people out there who know much more about ammonites than us and can spot even more subtle features!
@@YorkshireFossils No matter how much we think we know, there’s always someone who knows even more, ha ha. Actually, I was wondering what so excited you about the first ammonite Shea cracked open here. It looked rather moshed down on the video.
I would love to see your Dad in action, prepping one of these nodules. His work is so pristine, there must be some lessons for us to glean here! I found a cross sectioned ammonite nodule, I daren't hit it for fear of a 200 peice jigsaw puzzle with no picture lol
It’s pretty nice isn’t it, a pretty unusual feature too for these specimens, so it was nice to see! Thank you, his work has certainly required lots of dedication and practise 🙏
My husband and I love your channel so much that with every notification that comes, we stop doing anything and admire your wonderful work. We dream of coming there one day and fulfilling our dream of immersing ourselves in the purity of that ancient world
Super interesting as always! I wonder if your dad would ever be willing to do a Q&A with you guys to answer some viewer questions? You guys seem so full of knowledge, I’m sure we’d all love to pick your brains 😋
Thanks so much for bringing these amazing fossils back to the beach. It really is more naturally appreciated when they’re in their ancient habitat. Nice splitting there Shea! An amazing variety of cool fossils. Your dad is a true artist. I liked the 2nd split better because of what it showed us about the animal from the angle it broke out of the nodule. I’m curious to see either prepared. Great vid. Take care guys.
Great video highlighting the slight differences between the species. The mottling colour on the last specimen is beautiful and the restoration work is incredible. I would really enjoy more videos like this that show the finished specimen and tell us the species.
Excellent viewing! Thank you for explaining some of the aspects to be considered and the decisions to be made before opening the ammonite nodule. Look forward to your next video.
Would be nice to see the second nodule if it's prepared and the rest of the rock is off. And how beautiful are those fully prepared ones! 😀 Nice that you explain the different specimens
Another couple of specimens to add to the preparation list, we are slowly working our way through it but don’t think we will ever finish it! It takes a long time to prepare them all haha
excellent specimens lads, once again..im intrigued in the little village? in the background of your vids, what is is and how do they get down the cliffs to it please
@@YorkshireFossils I would say that Shae already is a palaeontologist as he’s doing what palaeontologist’s do! Great channel and great to see your passion for your work.
Last comment didn't add lol. The first two you shoe that your dad prepped...could you do a lesson on the types and how common/rare ones are... I've counted at least 5/6. Thanks(copy and pasted to new video)
Nice video i like to see the different kinds it amazing how many there are once you get beyond hildis/dacs its a mine field almost, is there different features between males and females of the same species, spikes, size etc
@@YorkshireFossils it was really good! 2 full bags of dacs and I found a 6 inch hildy! And pulled off a trade on the way back home with Ryan. A great day out!
The species differences are so subtle! Spectacular finds, beautiful preparation.

I’m pretty sure it’s a species of ammonite they don’t find often, in good condition.

I liked the second one opened, the crystal appearance makes it special. Your dad is also very talented.

Really superb specimens. , nice to see different species, thanks. Bill
Thanks Bill, we really appreciate that. I will certainly try and put together a few similar videos to this one 🐊

I love all the different ammonites, they are such elegant fossils! Thank you both for sharing your knowledge with us!💖
Good work splitting those nodules well , with the wooden handled hammer .
Thank you Brandon, it is one of our old faithful hammers! Although we have certainly broken a few of this type over the years haha
Yes me too , I spend quite a bit of time repairing them for people too - with hickory handles
Ah yeah I see, we usually have to replace them as they’re quite heavy and not sure if they’d fix easily
Always enjoy your videos - some stunning ammonites this time!
Thank you 🙏 These ammonites were certainly quite different to normal weren’t they!
Huge congrats on 40K subs 🎇 👏 👍
Thank you! 🎉🎉
Very nice Ammonites ! Thanks for showing me !

Another great video guys! Was that near Runswick?
*Wow* all those fossils were fire !!🔥🔥 Your Dad sure can prepare them! Is Shae a Paleontologist ? just wondering . s'all . Enjoyed this vid.

Love the video
Sadly no fossils around Merseyside
When will a "Yorkshire Fossil's Greatest Finds" download become available?
Those finds aren’t prepared yet, so will be something in the future to look forward to!

Great video! What sort of hammer was being used to pop the nodules?
Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed it! This was a 4lb hammer I’m pretty sure

Hola como andan, mi pregunta es, que hacen con todos esos caracoles fosiles? Se venden los coleccionan o van a un museo

😉👍thank you.
Whats the name of the beach that you usually to find a fossil ?

чувак,я хочу к тебе
там где я живу встречаются только окаменелые раковины, а в 2000 км от меня горы,где есть аммониты
