Jimbo, excellent narration. Really enjoyed the details. Flying like that isn’t for everybody. You may not be one of the “pioneers” but you definitely carry on the tradition.
I have no doubt this job has its share of stresses but man this seems so satisfying and pleasurable compared to my career. I took a heli tour at Franz Joseph glacier when we vacationed in NZ years ago. I told our pilot he was living my dream and to never take it for granted! Living in NZ, flying people in a chopper over the most breathtaking landscapes on earth and getting paid to do so! Amazing! We really loved you Kiwis - Kia Ora from Texas!
Thank you for this incredible flying experience. Of course almost all of what you are showing are the things your are taught to stay away from - at least outside of NZ. I appreciate how you manage these adverse circumstances and perform your job there.
I’ve flown a couple hundred loads in the PAC 750XL in California. One of my three all time favorite aircraft to fly, along with the Douglas DC-9 and my Beech T-34. The Cresco looks like a treat to fly.
wow.. youtube recommended this channel.. simply awesome. Subscribed. BTW - no problem with ascent, I'm from India ,and understood all that you were saying , Lol :). Great video .
The reply to Alexey's question killed it! As you read it out loud, I was thinking: "What is this guy complaining about? Jimbo's perfectly understandable! It's not like he's Australian or so." And then your comment about Oz accent :D
Very nice work. A lapsed PPL here. Impressive landings especially getting the wheels on the ground while still rolling out from the turn. Had to laugh at the Aussie accent joke. Kinda knew it was coming! Andrew in Oz
Mate of mine used to keep some old orange Vango tent fabirc to wrap around the base of poles n places like that and secure with a length of bungee rope. He'd only wrap the bottom couple of feet but leave the rest of fabric out flat on the ground to increase the visibility looking down from the air. Worked so well the local hang gliding club started doing the same. Orange spinnaker fabric works well too and is very light and compact to fold up. Make sure you peg it down though is the wind blows it away into bushes you're goin to be misled where the pole is.
Great video. Never get tired of this stuff. Spent my childhood with my dad trucking super out to the strips. Had the pleasure of watching & meeting some great pilots from back in the day like Bruce Aitken who I got a nice letter from a few years ago. He is a pioneer & a true legend.
@@JimboBurgessomg when I was a kid(40+ years ago!😢)my friends dad was a pilot for Bruce aitken and I remember getting a very dusty amazing ride in the back of an airtruk over hawera and rural area- facing backwards from memory sitting on a piece of foam!
Good video Jim. All I ever wanted to do as a kid was fly a topdresser. I had zero support and by the time I learnt to fly life got in the way. I did drive the loader back in 95 here in Taranaki. The work was patchy and I just couldn't earn enough to fly and do that. In the end I gave up and went back building which I fucken hated! But while building a hanger for Matt Newton I decided to fly helicopters. I brought a business in Wellington that earnt me some good money and was learning in Masterton before they went broke and I lost about 10k. Good for you getting in that seat I know well the sacrifices you have made to do it. I've told my 2 boys whatever the hell they want to do I'll support them 100% with it. I don't want them to watch someone else flying on YT thinking what if. My youngest wants to fly helicopters and so that's exactly what he will do.
Great video and flying. Probably the best videos of topdressing I have seen for a while. Like the bit of humour mixed with what is a very serious business that generally does not tolerate any mistakes. Well done.
This is great! Some fantastic video editing skills at work, as well as the flying expertise! And the narration is clear and interesting and engaging ... a skill that's not easy to master! I've subscribed immediately!
I was stationed in Christchurch NZ, with VXE-6 NAVY C-130 aircraft. Both North and South islands look like a big golf course from the air. Beautiful country with beautiful people.
Huge props to you dude. I can't imagine flying that low near mountains, with a heavy loaded aircraft, all within that white arc. Phenomenal energy management. I think I would rather take my chances doing single engine over water, suddenly seems less scary when now compared to this!
Excellent video. My Fletcher time here in Australia looks positively tame. I forgot how rugged my home country is. Great work on the flying and the video both. Keep safe and many thanks.
I'm an American pilot and I can tell you that you are one of the most proficient bad-ass pilots in the entire world brother. I bet less than a 1000 people in the entire world could do what you do for a living.
The video is halfway through and paused now while I prepare for the second half by breathing deeply and prying my ass off the seat with a crowbar. Only thing could make this more interesting is having a nest of hornets suddenly appear and hearing you calmly explaining how you swat five at a time between tasks and use their carcasses as skin cream to prevent sunburn.
one of my favorite flying videos i've seen, excellent narration. i hope any random folks that watch this understand just how gnarly it is that you do this on a regular basis comfortably, this is some serious shit.
This is so calming to watch, for me at least :) your voice is very calming too, and thank you very much for the insightful commentary! Looking 😡to future videos
Just found your channel. Great content. Watched your north to south ferry flight. Brings back memories did my ppl in Hawera, flew to Wanganui a lot. We had access at the time to a Yak52 LIZ in the club. It was privately owned but been sold. Great flying along the coast there mostly uc airspace. Used to seeing you guys around those days.
Your videos are the best marketing material the airframer could have… incredible flying skills. I wonder how the air tractor and caravan would perform.
Great flying, I love those awesome sloped strips n NZ and I have to admit that more than once I wish I would know all of the farm strip locations to implement them in the MSFS 2020 for some top dressing adventures with the cresco!
Cool video and editing! As always, fascinating to hear about the details in your flying, like avoiding poles, your reliance on the instruments, altitude and speed. And absolutely nothing wrong with your accent. I’m swedish and I understand it just fine.
That's an awesome video with plenty of great descriptions about everything involved. Loved it, even if We Aussies can't understand a single word you Kiwi's say LOL!
FarmSim RUclipsr Argsy shared this to his Discord, very impressive and calm sir. Fully understanding the amount of experience that lends to such smooth flight and looks so effortless... You make it look monotonous sir, well done. Cheers from the USA (via the middle east ;) )
Amazing. This is some incredibly engaging flying, I think I was sat on the edge of my seat the whole ascent and climb out past all the crazy obstacles and threats. Very nifty aircraft too, like a tactical bomber. Reminds of a COIN aircraft. Beautiful mate, fly safe.
I'm only 6 hours into flight training for a PPL. Not sure I can fathom ever having the confidence at that AGL to clip those ridges like you do. Keep the dirty side down and the blue side up!
Wonderful video, good commentary, and top editing. I like the red circles so I could easily understand what you were talking about. Can you please explain the light bar, which I have never seen before. Thank you
Bloody awesome mate I went for a ride in a FU-24 here in Aus when I was a kid over my uncles cattle farm it was the best fun with your pants on I reckon😂 cheers matey keep them coming 🍻🍺
"This aircraft is capable of carrying a 2.2 ton, though in this instance on this airstrip we have 1.7 ton onboard. I'll show you why as we start our takeoff roll there" Ah yes. You'd need at least another 500Kgs to carry those giant balls.
Looks and sounds like you had fun at work. Here in the Colonies or The States folks can’t understand me either, not even my phone. Though not a Texan I grew up with Texans I now sound like one.
Or a Glaswegian accent :-) your viewers would be in trouble then. A few years ago when Arial application was allowed in the U.K. all the colonial guys used to come over here for the spring Top Dressing, they used to call it the "Bird Cage" on account of all the wires :-( - Great video as always, superb editing, and quality
Great videos and great flying. (I like the accent too!). Not very familiar with this aircraft type. To my mind it doesn't win many prizes for looks, but it seems to be an amazingly capable aircraft and certainly gets the job done really well! Stay safe and happy landings from here in the UK!
I'm happy with your new subtitles Fellow Pilot from across the ditch. 😂 Awesome flight. Feel like I was there. Am interested to know exactly where, so I can replicate in VR in MSFS2020 Sim.
This is some fancy flying dude! There are more events in two loads than I´ve had in 14000hrs worth of an airline career! Hats off to you!
Same thought here buddy... Awesome flying!
Get in a buddy seat if you ever get the chance.
