Oh my god i love the fact you arent shy about showing how much you make from conventions!! As someone who aims to do the same one day its so interesting and inspiring!💖🌻
Color not only vary from paper to paper, they vary from print driver edition to print driver edition and large companies often have printer from different maker, too. So variations can be expected.
I find that table position is so key I did a show at a posh event and was put upstairs in a back room with loads of other people. not one of us made back the table fee. as hardly anyone bothered to come up stairs. I always find I learn something new each time I do a show you kind evolve and advance.
@@BumbleBaylee The thing is you clearly put your heart soul and a huge amount of time and money in to what you do and it shows by the outstanding quality of your work . Then to go to a show and get put in an area of low foot fall and I swear back corners are the worse (people to lazy to walk to the end) It is heart wrenching to see. I find these films you do of the shows you do soo inspiring as you always keep going and motivated and push on. Your honesty and integrity do you proud. If ever you come to the UK (Dorset area) there will always be scones and tea waiting for you. Without you as a muse, I would have given up drawing years ago.
I wonder if it's viable to get a gacha machine for future cons :o That way, you can fill it with leftover buttons from previous sets (so that you can cycle new button designs in faster) >:D the queue for a table with one of thems would be pretty big haha
OMFG 800CAD for the table ?! How much visitors were expected ? I'm doing a conv in Lyon, France end of november, this is a 485K people city so not as big as Vancouver but close enough.. They expect about 50K visitors and table was only 185€ which is 277CAD. It's outrageously expensive to get an artits's table at 800. Dang ^^; I mean my booth is a single 4m² with no angle but even twice that space will still be around 550CAD so a lot cheaper.
Fan Expo is a decent sized con which is why they were able to get someone like Jason Mamoa to come. The bigger the cons get the more expensive the tables are because its a hustle and rush for everyone to sign up for the table. Take San Japan for example, its tables are $175 but it does a lottery type set up where the artists are randomly selected. And Baylee paid for premium endcap which is more expensive. But yeah a lot of big name conventions are super expensive. I mean San Diegos Comic Con artist alley table is $1,100 USD for just ONE six foot table
OMG O_O Ok I see ! they are expensive cons in France as well, I found some in other cities that are already 400€ for a basic table and in Paris there's alos Comic con and Japan Expo, those are over 1500€ for an artist's table, just a basic one with no angle. Those cons do bring up to 200K visitors but it's a lot of money still when you sell products in the range of 2 to 20€ you have to sell a lot.
Omg Baylee!! You are sooo amazing! I love u soo much! I’ve watched your for over 3 years and you are my idol.. i look up to u... I even have your book!☺️
So is there something in the convention contract that just allows them to change table spots at will? I think them switching the table location on me would annoy me more because those tables are not cheap as you stated. But I guess if you have no control over that because of contracts then I guess that is something to keep in mind if an artist is considering doing a con.
@Bumble Baylee a little worried I noticed close to the end of the vid,and you were home. I saw how your right eye looked very pinkish and puffy... is everything alright?
Honestly if it's slow I would more attribute it to your table being in the corner than anything. I hear Fan expo talked about a lot. And it's super cool you got to meet Alisa!!! I'm jealous.
9:03 This is the first I see what canadian coins looked like... I knew that the dolars were diferente colored but I didn't think that the coins were like pesos and euros also... Are USA dolars the only ones in the world that are only green and have coins that are only of one type of metal?
Hey Baylee, what about opening up selling your excess stickers and 11 X 17 prints online? You could even list some button designs that you want to phase out. If nothing else it would set you up to start selling the 11 X 14 prints at your next con.
@Maria Valentine I get that, but she has specific stock she wants to unload. She also wants to keep her prints a uniform size at cons. Best way for her to not end up with dead stock would be for her to sell it online. She could limit her shipping or charge the customer for shipping so she doesn't lose out on all her profits. It's not the friendliest way to get her stock out of the basement, but she's a business and dead stock is money lost.
baylee, I have a idea for a artist video you could possibly do?? something that basicly quick for thoughs week's that you need somethng quick?? do a video on, what you do for conventions? Talk about the basic set up you usually go for, how you sign up to go, so on. :P I'd love to see a full video on you explaining, the ropes. lol even though i watch your vlogs. xD but it would be a video could just go to for quick info, and know how to do stuff for beginners.
Friday is always my worst day of conventions. And I find depending on your art style anime con vs comic expos can really impact your sales. Sometimes you’ll make more at a smaller anime con that a big comic expo depending on your art (and you’ll probably be paying less for the table too. Dang fan expo tables so expensive 😩)
Does anyone know what those cute decorated backpacks are called? Like the waluigi one? I’ve seen a few people with them here and I’ve always wanted to make one. I was wondering where I could get a backpack as a base to work on.
I have so many questions!! Ok firstly though, thank you so much for actually disclosing exactly how much money you make each day instead of dodging it like most other people do. I feel like it's valuable information for people who are wanting to do what you do! So first question, which will probably seem stupid, but when you say "float money"... I've never heard that term before but is it the money you have to start with in order to give change? And if so, how much do you take with you for that? My other question is do you only take cash at conventions and if so, how do you deal with people who want to pay with card? Or is that even an issue at all? Love your videos! :3
*Actively having panic attack about my own con on Saturday and Sunday (And technically Friday, but My partner is taking care fo the booth that day) Tunes into Baylee at her own con, immediately calms down because at least my cons are way smaller*
Please go back to Jason Momoa, my current obsession!!! He is my hero!!! Oh I love your booth and wish I was there!!! 💙💙💙💜💜💜💚💚💚. So very glad Christian is helping you!!! You should do either key chain fobs or pins!!! Are your conventions spread out over the year evenly or are they concentrated in the summer/fall?
Idk how you stayed so calm when you were that close to Jason Momoa. And I hope that you do a convention somewhat close to me in the states because I want to buy so much of your merch. I keep putting it off buying it off redbubble because it would be sooooo awesome for you to sign them and to meet you in person and buy them :)
*Can someone please explain to me how reproducing and selling all this fan art, in various formats, legal? I'm not trying to be funny, I'm honestly just curious on how the whole copyrights thingamajig works, in cases like this?*
Techniquely, it's illegal. However, a lot of big companies don't care and even encourage it as a marketing thing. But keep in mind, they are legally allowed to come after you if you do make money off their copyrighted work. However, for smaller businesses, even if they caught you, they are most likely to ask you to stop selling rather than sue you. From my experience, any Japanese anime are fine with fan-made merch (lol, it's a large part of their culture and economy), but western cartoons are more strict. The safest bet is to do your research on specific companies. Overall, the whole fan art industry is a grey zone. Hope that helps. :D
Well I don't know if this helps or not but, anime based fanart are the most likely to be legal since Japans soports small artists and all forms of fanart while the artist gives credit to the real creator and company. That's basicly the reason why Doujinshis (fan manga) are okay to sell because it's benefits both the fanartist and the original source. The company and anime series gets more and free exposer and the artist can make a living and keep doing what they like and thus the cycle never ends.
for every convention afterwards you should just have a small sign in the corner that says "Ask me about my Shrek lewds"
Thedemonicdiva YEEEES
GREAT IDEA
The fact that Shrek is sticky in 'that' area made me just really appreciate the art even more 😋😂😏
emelisema eww lol
Every time I watch one of your convention vlogs, it makes me want to go to one/table at one!
Oh my god i love the fact you arent shy about showing how much you make from conventions!! As someone who aims to do the same one day its so interesting and inspiring!💖🌻
I just Kreygasm-ed at Jason Momoa (0:41), even tho we don't see him. THE VLOG IS THE CLOSEST I'LL EVER BE TO JASON MOMOA!!
Me too.

I had the same thing once! Upper level, back corner. It was awful.

Did you check the door where they left your missing cricuit lightboxes? Maybe the tote bags are there. Just a thought 😊
SUCH AN INSPIERATION!!!! LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!

Could you do a vlog one day on what sells best at conventions? Iike as far as fandoms and merch,
Dont stress to much your amazing !
You could sell your leftover prints online yes?
Too much hassle. My prints are already available online through Redbubble, which is zero work for me.
Bumble Baylee you could maybe save the leftover ones for any other convention kind of thing you’d do in near future?
What convention are you planning to do next?! I’m willing to travel out of Cali for it!!
I wish o could meet Bailey sooo bad I just hope she comes to a convenshun in Alberta someday! Bailey you are awsome and a realy big insperation to me!
Yayy I'm glad you like my artist alley cat. They love drawing memes >:3
I’m glad you show how much you earned, it’s very interesting. Also hearing about the cost of printing etc is really helpful
Art Convention thieves, the reason why fanny packs are making a come back 😂.

I spoke with other artists in other areas and they said it was slow too. But the location definitely was a factor too.
