There’s a book with a similar concept where you meet the characters, see their relationship blossom, their breakup, and make up all through voicemails. You learn everything else references. So for example, we know they met at a party and exchanged numbers because she leaves a message referring to herself as the girl in red at the party last Friday. It snowballs from there to planning dates, to stressed voicemails about what to wear to meet her parents, to him begging her to just let him know she’s okay after she stood him up at the altar.
I agree with the live chat that this book was a 3 star read. The emails were literally a masterpiece and I thought I had my first 5 star of the year but that obviously was proven not to be true. With that aside I wish authors would start writing more seasoned female characters. The woman are always inexperienced and/or with low self esteem and that’s a valid experience but its time to branch out. There has to be a middle ground between the femme fatale or never been kissed types.
I agree about the cover page! I thought it would be more of them interacting on their patios and conversing that way so it was a little surprise while reading
I laughed out loud during several of the first pages. The second half the book dragged but it was still cute. I will say both the main characters were annoying and deeply flawed. Why it took them almost thirties years to seek therapy is beyond me. I also thought she forgave him way too quick! 4-4.5 stars for me
One thing I hate more than anything is low self esteem, especially women. I don't know. Pretend like you don't give a @#$%. Thirst bucketing is never cute. Even Nick was getting on my nerves with that too. That's why I gave the book a 4****. Other than that I found the book really cute.
lmaooo not women riding their bikes. it took me out i cannot 😂 the book was fine, i’m happy i read it but it wasn’t a favorite for me 3/5 stars probably 3.5 because there were parts i really liked but also some parts were just dragging
nick is literally a villain lol im sorry. he was a selfish/ compulsive liar. he should’ve really told her the truth or left her smooth alone!! he was a wimp lol & boring. Lilly was really dense 75% of the time. they both acted like they were teenagers. im READING this book down 😹😹
The Uber story sounds amazing
When Kenya said “let me get on my soapbox” and readjusted @42:57, I don’t know why I hollered and found that hilarious 🤣🤣
