  • In the second part of 2nd Lt. James Oliver Churchill's story of his wounding in both hips at the Battle of Fort Donelson on February, 15, 1862, we learn that he endured a night in sub-freezing temperatures. The next morning, comrades found him clinging to life. Here's what happened to him, in his own words.

    This and the previous installment were simply captivating listening. Lt. Churchill was definitely a talented writer. It would be interesting to know more about his post-war life and career. Thanks again, Ron.

    It was such a great account of what happened to him. His writing ability helped bring the account to life. So much so that 170 years later we can put ourselves in that moment.
