When I was in third grade, Silver Springs was leased to a entertainment business. The now Creek Trail was once a "Jeep Safari" ride with cattle guards and animals raised in captivity. I remember waving and smiling at one such monkey in a tree above us and the driver telling me not to smile at the monkey, it will attack. Now I am 37, and had such nostalgia after rediscovering the old Jeep trail, which come to find out after I came back home, were Jeep YJs like the one I drove up in that day. My wife and I did see more of the monkeys while canoeing up to the spring head from the other boat ramp that I believe would be the one you mentioned in the video.
I just LOVE your story! I could imagine the nostalgia you got as you went back there...and how cool that you're currently driving in the same kind of Jeep!! That's awesome! We'll have to travel further down the river next time to get a glimpse of them. We were so sad we didn't see any of them while we were there.

The glass bottom boat tour was really really awesome! We liked it a lot more than we were expecting to! I think it was more because our captain was great! As for gators... they don't bother you unless you get really close!! :)
lol...that won't happen! I've only ever seen baby gators in the water in the springs... and I'm sure they are more afraid of you! Now... if it were a bunch of crocs... that's a different story!
It's so relaxing! It's so nice to be able to get out on the water. Noah and I are thinking of buying an inflatable two person kayak so that we can do it more often!
They are soooo cool! I loved how you could see all the turtles and fish at the bottom of the springs. You can't see it as much in the video, but in person, it was really fun! I think you two would enjoys it! :)
Loved the video!!!! I have always wanted to go kayaking and it looks so beautiful out there! My only dilemma is I’m afraid of gators lol. I just don’t know if I trust anybody of water in Florida (lol I know I’m being slightly melodramatic but I’m still scared and probably watch one too many horror movies). But...the glass bottom boat tours also looks like fun!!!! Maybe I’ll put this on my bucket list. Thank you so much for sharing; you highlight so much more to do in Florida besides theme parks and its greatly appreciated!
Hi LaShay! 😊You should absolutely try kayaking! Don't let the alligators hold you back. They usually do not bother you unless you go and bother them. So, as long as you stay away.. you are safe! But, I understand your fear though! I'm always afraid that my dog will run up to one while walking her...so, I keep her on a short leash while near the lake! lol

I agree! It's the best. My fam and I hit up Weikawa Springs last year and went kayaking and seen some gators I will never forget it!

Never have kayaked but might give it a try. Looks so relaxing and beautiful.
