I'm working on my 100Th RUclips video, I will be making some 100 Year phone calls. 100 Year span of telephone technology. These will be from Magneto phones from the 1900's, phones thru 100 Year switchboard then a later 1930's model combination magneto/common battery switchboard to a late 50's 3CL toll switchboard, completing Call's to a SXS and A asterisk system T1- TDM to VOIP format to a 2020 iPhone. The video will include audio as the calls are set up. The video will start with a very quick overview then calls, and the last part will be a brief description of the technology that was used. This has not been done by anyone I'm not sure on the correct title. Any comments or suggestions would be welcomed.
Most of the calls will be using Western Electric equipment. one of my oldest phones is a Strom-berg Carlson Wall phone.

You have the most impressive collection of telecommunications equipment that I have ever seen. I’m in my 20s now, and only have three 2500s, three 500s, a 554 and various Trimlines. I try to buy whatever I can at thrift stores, flea markets, estate sales, etc..- but your setup is otherworldly… I’m not even sure how I would begin to learn what each and every one of those relays, switches, and other components do and how they work, but I am fascinated.
What a beautiful collection, sir. Bravo!

The historical value of working telecommunications systems is priceless and won't be lost to the ages with sxsphil's preservation.

No need to apologize for anything! You have an amazing collection of some very hard-to-find phones and some very unusual colors, especially for Key systems. I wish I had a third of your knowledge of these older telephone systems. Great job, very neat wiring, and very interesting video! Thank you!

I remember 1A2 phones from when I was a kid...Builders' Square (remember them?) and Kmart used them well into the early 1990s and I remember the sound of the buzzer in them very well.

Do you have a stand alone building to house all of this incredible equipment? Awesome setup!

It's funny to me that you apologize for the lighting--I, for one am just happy to see your wonderful collection!
Phil, what you have here is the epitome of phone collecting. I have a very modest 1A2 collection with a working shoebox KSU in the house with a few phones. You have "better than a museum". I fell in love with 1A2 in 6th grade when my school got a key-system. I've sought out phones ever since! Thank you again for sharing this with us, and for your diligent work to make it look good, work good, and so memorable! Thank you!

What a collection! Thanks for showing some of it off. Some interesting colorways I would not have expected for business phones.

Spectacular setup and obviously a true labor of love. I worked as a switchman (Panel, #1XB, 4ESS) in NYC from 1968 thru 1985 and later managed a Nortel DMS-250/300.

I love it when I see you’ve posted a new video, you have quite the collection, better than most public museums I’ve seen.
I wish I had the knowledge to set up either a step or crossbar office for my phone collection, but I have to settle for semi-modern electronic switching behind the scenes of my collection.

Your systems look bigger overall than the no.1 SxS system I worked in the early 80's. Very interesting and alot of good memories when I worked for southwestern bell. Thank you so much for bringing this video. I never thought I'd see this equipment again.

Its a small exchange. 600 lines with 5 EAS routes , this is why it has so many selectors. I was able to acquire a lot of trunks.

I think my FAVORITE model is the 2852 & 2851 Business Wall -Phones. I guess that makes them a model (851 & 852) in "ROTARY" Dial form. And for "COLOR" I LOVE THAT (DARK BLUE) very RARE I think. Even MORE RARE, is a color that I think they used to call "SLATE". IT was sort of a (Greyish - Dark Blue). I think it WOULD HAVE BEEN the perfect DEFAULT color for every business office. INSTEAD... The "DEFAULT COLOR" that DID become most prevalent in most business offices is the one Western Electric color that I absolutely hate. It's that horrible paper -bag light brown. I think they called it "ALMOND". HOW UGLY It makes a phone look! 😢
