Didnt watch video. Dont have a lath but I do enjoying turning shaker related items for my work. Just not on a lath. I use a drill press which you actually pull into your work and it impresses the drill bit firmly into any position you like as long as your jig is set up just right. Now im not talking about the traditional methodologies here instead its a unique system we developed to override certain tradition bound practices and show many a better way. But its just for PULLS.
