  • I got the chance to play with a prototype Stinger mainframe for a couple of days. And I was told I can give you guys a look at it, too! A big step towards my dream Stinger 2 after the metal magazine, but what do you think? Thumbs up or thumbs down?
    Thanks for watching! Subscribe and like!

    I'd buy it as well. Already own the current model Stinger 2 Tactical 💪🏾🇺🇲

    Interesting, but I already spent around £1,000 on my Stinger, with multiple parts now obsolete. Unless they're doing a 'trade-in' deal, I can't see myself buying this. How much will it be? It's from Steambow, it'll be EXPENSIVE!

    I really hope they put this on the market!
    I got the tactical a few months back, and I've been using the 150lb limb. I purchased the aluminum magazine just for peace of mind. (If they recommend using aluminum tips for the 120+ limbs, then I figured I'd get the metal magazine as a precaution as well)
    Reloading with the polymer felt a bit nerve racking at times 😬.
    My hope is that, at the very least, they'd be able to make the metal parts on a special request order type of basis. Though I anticipate it to be just as expensive as the metal magazine if not more.

    Answer : Absolutely without question YES! Part of what I dislike on the polymer version is the frame can bend outwards as you tighten the bolt for securing the throwing arm through the end of the polymer frame - this has the potential to either damage the frame or offset the accuracy of the crossbow

    The aluminum is pretty sick!! Some practical distinguishing features would be cool such as like they did with the Al mag - the spring-loaded top and smooth minimalist design are appealing features to get with such an upgrade. Is it more rigid at higher draw weights than the polymer? Seems like Al can be brittle with repeated stress, no?

    • @fletchedevolution
      @fletchedevolution  Год назад +2

      I am also wondering about the differences between polymer and aluminum under stress, but both are used in firearms and seem to survive a great deal of stress. If I knew the guy from the Hydraulic Press Channel, maybe I could get some meaningful tests worked out.

    Great video and fantastic content - I’ve just recently discovered your channel (liked and subscribed 👍🏻)
    I’m still at the consideration stage with the stinger 2 - there’s a lot I like and appreciate those who add their own spin with accessories and mods that work for them.
    But to echo what some have said - while it’d be great to have an all aluminium body for the x-bow - I’m a little underwhelmed by all of the less cosmetic and more essential Steambow add-ons which seem like they should come included rather than be purchased separately.
    The cost quickly sky-rockets when you’re adding many of the accessories - I agree I think the upgraded trigger should be in there, also the folding stock - and quick release limb and respective housing block should also come as standard.
    The tactical version should be able to have the stock folded and the limb removed easily - for easy transportation /carry and ‘tactical’ applications as the name suggests.
    I feel Steambow should release a version of the polymer stinger 2 that comes with these - including perhaps it’s red dot sight - for a reduced price all in one combo.
    I think only once they make a move in this direction will they build their user and fan base to a point where special all metal editions of the stinger 2 can be realistically (and warmly) received.

      I agree I have an adder that uses push pins to make it come apart. I'm thinking I should have bought a Vlad cos it has all the extras aswell and the Vlad is cheaper but I've brought a stinger ll it comes on it's own with 1 limb 55lbs no extras apart from 6 alloy arrows, it doesn't even have a laser sight and I payed £329 it's class but I do feel short changed and it has no built in dry firing system to stop accidental dry firing and the limbs break real easy if u do dry fire. It just seems deliberate to get more money out of me I buy extras and the price in England costs more for add ons than anywhere else

  • @jasonmunday-aston6985
    @jasonmunday-aston6985 10 месяцев назад

    I've the adder that's great straight out of the box with all the extras standard pretty much. But i brought a steambow tactical ll for £329 and it doesn't even come with a laser sight and no dry fireing system to stop it from happening so the limbs snap real easy . I love it but it should come with the extras like the adder or vlad . Its in need of more add ons standard with it...

    I personally don't care about an aluminum stinger I would rather the stinger offer the same features that the vlad offers straight out of the box for a similar price

      Yes, but the applications and places to use them are generally different, especially depending on where you live. I have lots of guns, but where I live, I cannot just do target practice on my land, I have to go to a gun range (lame!). But I can shoot my crossbows as much as I want. And the arrows from these crossbows will not go through a barn wall and endanger someone else, for example.

      @@fletchedevolution In Europe you have to go to the shooting range or have a hunting license to shoot in the field (lame!)

      Yes, I live in Austria. I hunt, but you even still have to go to the range to practice or to target shoot guns here.

    The Stinger 2 is finally more popular in Canada. Hopefully it picks up more. I really like it. But the next big thing is the Mey Assault Interceptor Crossbow :)

      The Mey will be hugely popular for about an hour until it meets dynamic shooting events...afterwards the real shooters will see it for the plus size panties it is.

    It looks like a quality product and the upgraded weight and materials are appealing, but to be honest I can't see myself buying an all metal stinger II, even though I would like to own one. I already have a Survival and Tactical and have spent quite a bit of money with Steambow already, although I am very happy with their products.

  • @of-qo9nv
    @of-qo9nv Год назад +5

    What I want to see is a more affordable product, not an even more expensive version of what is already somewhat of a "boutique" or "luxury" item.
    Let us also be honest here, the platform the Stinger is based upon is "first generation" crossbow pistol technology that has been superseded by better platforms. Therefore, rather than modifying an old and flawed design why not go forward with a new platform?
    Why ignore highly customisable "2nd generation" crossbow pistols (such as the Redback) or even "3rd generation" pistol / carbine crossbows (such as the compound and reverse draw Supersonics)?
    Is it even sensible from a business perspective to keep developing an obselescent platform?
    Extrapolating current development trends, Steamboat will end up with a very expensive "boutique" or niche product sold in very limited numbers, perhaps analogous to a wooden framed Morgan sports car which are sold in very low numbers to rich people only.
    If that is the business model Steambow have then fine, but I for one could not justify spending the asking price.
    Just my thoughts, feel free to disagree or ignore 😄

    • @fletchedevolution
      @fletchedevolution  Год назад +1

      Interesting thoughts, time will tell. I don't think that the Stinger or other similar platforms like the Alligator are obsolete. They offer a certain feature set and degree of reliability and robustness, and thus have their place. Steambow has also said it is committed to maintaining a modular platform, with their 10-shot magazine for example fitting on the existing mainframes, people just need to sort out what they really need from the many products and not get sucked into spending more money than they need to. And I think Steambow should include some more features like the tuning trigger in the base kit at this point.
      I definitely want to dive into other platforms, I just have not had the time to sensibly test additional solutions aside from the Vlad yet. I hope to change that soon, the market has a lot of interesting things to offer.
      The Vlad is different but not better, and has serious differences that are drawbacks for some, and advantages for others.
      I have only seen videos of the Supersonic and definitely want to get one, but the rates of fire seem to be much lower due to the longer cocking stroke. And the power of the Supersonic is a positive for some things but a negative in other situations, depending on what and where you are shooting. So I expect it partially covers a different set of needs than a Stinger, but I need to find out first before I can really say. And being a compound system, there is more complexity that may be difficult or problematic for some users, depending on their technical abilities.
      This milled mainframe is definitely kind of a niche/luxury item, I agree there, and also not necessary in terms of functionality as far as I can work out. Some people will like it, some won't, if they even bring it out.

    I cannot see paying anymore than 50% above the cost of a plastic Stinger. Especially if it retains the original lift-off notch, sear-less trigger, and no safety. These pistol crossbows are bascally nice toys to me and if I am paying anything in the above $500 range, I'd rather get a .38 revolver or 9mm Glock if it were to protect my home and family. If it were to shoot in the backyard, yeah, I can see the crossbow advantage. Isn't the Vlad a metal frame?

      The only thing aluminum on the Vlad is the cocking stock. The best tactical bow you can buy is the Stinger until the others catch up.
