      For the illumination try the regulator on the right side og the steering wheel ;)

  • @jinger9980
    @jinger9980 9 месяцев назад +232

    For the illumination: Check all the ground contacts! It is possibel that a contact has been ripped off due to the massive impact.
    Just check by giving an easy to reach bulb an extra ground contact while it is switched on. If it lights up you have a ground problem in the circut. Good luck and continue the work. It is fun to watch!

    • @Mr_Springy
      @Mr_Springy 9 месяцев назад +3

      I think you are right @jinger9980 a ground for the circuit(s) is likely the culprit

    • @questioner1596
      @questioner1596 8 месяцев назад +5

      One possibility is once you unscrew a ground it never makes as good contact on reassembly unless it's scraped clear of corrosion.

      Every French car should be taken directly from the production lines at the factory to a recycle center. Avoiding the customer bit in the middle.
      Any German car is useless and ugly. I do drive a BMW but I don’t like it. They are awful.
      Any Italian car will rust before you can drive it off the dealership.
      Realistically, the only cars left that could be Ok, are japonese. Also very ugly (all of them!), also very unpleasant to drive, but at least they last the first 4 years without much pain.
      Still, after 5 or 6 years of ownership, I'd let them run out of oil and drive them until the engines throw a rod bearing through a new hole in the bonet. Cars are hateful machines.

    Greetings from Finland! Regarding the illumination of inner controls and knobs - when the windscreen was replaced where the ambient light sensor plugged and installed correctly? That could affect the lightning, as the car might think that daylight is enough if its installed incorrectly. Was the illumination of dials working correctly before the removal of dash? In the video they doesn's seem to work with the first start with the new battery? I would start the diagnose buy getting to know what guides the illumination of dials, before tearing the dash again... Keep up the good work!

    I know how much you spent on this Rang Rover and the cost of repairing it add that to its initional cost and just see how much they sell for in the great condition yours is so nice well 4 years ago l bought a 1997 Toyota Hilux l also live in Australia were they don't rust no much snow and it was aud$1500 l have had to spend about $1700 fixing it up mainly because in N.S.W we have a yearly registration inspection and a couple if issues have come up mainly a new exhaust system tires service ect but in Australia Toyota's are popular most numerous vehicles on Australian roads and l have sell for aud$5000 to $6000

    Anyone buying a used Land Rover or Range Rover should remember the saying about second (or subsequent ) marriages:
    Triumph of hope (of the buyer) over experience (of other RR/LR buyers)

    Worst decision you'll ever make. Steer clear of any range rover after the p38. The l322 was nice but it was plagued with gremlins, the same as every range since the l322. Good luck.

    Hi New sub have been watching before subscribing Hope you do well from this vehicle, Oh you need to hide all your VIN numbers & REG on car vertical as their is scruples greedy eyed people who would clone a stolen one with your details and sell it on , as they did that on an other channel called Salvage rebuild UK . just be carefully Pal.

    Love your videos but with a 'Raver' you've definitely bitten off more than you can chew. Strip and sell for parts. You need too many specialist tools and knowledge for this one. Even used parts are expensive. You can't even diagnose faults.

    Would it upset you to know I've done worse windscreens out and back in in 45 minutes? Haha. But I also do this for a living, the kent knife or cold knife you used is best but it requires some experience. Fair play for getting that done! Also awesome video!

    I wouldn’t do something like this myself as the costs repairing something like this are usually around 10x to 15x the base price, so would be more viable to buy something in better shape. Good luck buddy.

    Someone is selling a body with clean interior, bodywork is decent and wheels intact. Its for sale in zimbabwe where im originally from. He is selling cheap
    It doesnt have engine and gearbox which i can get from uk second hand.
    Im considering doing this as a project. My cousin is a mechanic qnd quite good and willing to help me
    Is this doable in say 2 months?
    Say the car was originally petrol can i change the engine to diesel without modification
    Thanks

    Only issue on a 3.6tdv8 is Turbos. If there’s fresh oil blowing into the intercooler boost pipes then one or both are on there way out. It's not catastrophic, unlike the 4.4.4tdv8.

    Are the dash lights just dimmed? Theres a dimmer dial next to the headlight switch.

      It looked like the dim dial was all the way down when the camera panned past?

      Playing with the dimmer does nothing

    Have a look behind the left-hand inner A post in case you have trapped some wire that feeds the interior lights. This would cause your issue. The headlight switch illumination lights are fed by another circuit.

    Colleagues, can you explain to me why Land Rovers fail so often and have such a bad reputation in terms of mechanics? They are aesthetically beautiful, but there is a notorious reputation for frequent failures

    I am really suprised that the MOT checks cars so thoroughly, that an anti-rollbar is checked. I can surely say 80% of cars on the road here would be considered a safety hazard over in the UK, lol

    I used to drive the model before this one (vogue 3 liter v6 diesel- bmw motor). Absolute terrible car, broke down regularly. At least it saved my life in an accident on the highway because of the sheer mass and height. Never again a Range Rover in my garage.
