I am determined to do a full trip without major incidents. This is my third try so far, pulling the massive Baobab tree.
This time I won't restart or cancel my trip as I've done in the past two tries. I've studied the route and learned a lot from the A.I's mistakes. I'm recording starting from the hook-up until the parking (which I will attempt).
So far, so good. There was a minor fender bender, but it was all the A.I's fault. But still no big crashes or getting stuck.
I've gone even further with the heavy hauler look on my T800. Added fat heavy duty wheels and tires on the front, plus the basic steel wheels on the drive axles to give it a more utility look.
Kenworth T800 with CAT 3406 550hp, EF 18-speed, fully manual range/split. Logitech G27 with h-shifter and clutch.

I have no idea how this video made it to 200k views. I wish I could still play this amazing game, but unfortunately it is incredibly difficult to keep mods up to date. It literally requires monthly, if not weekly maintenance, and unfortunately life got to me. But thank you all for the kind comments and for enjoying some guy with no real trucking experience pulling a gigantic log though the streets of San Francisco, surely committing dozens of traffic violations and completely butchering trucking procedures for about 25 minutes.
The way this truck sounds and how your shifter set up makes it more immersive , always restores my love for this game even when its frustrating. Thank you for all you do!
Thanks for keeping the route advisor open. It's easier for me to see the gearing choices. I get my SKRS eaton-fuller shifter later this month. I can hardly wait. 😁🤩

So, according to my calculations as detailed further onward, it would cost about *$8,293.80 [CDN]* in *wood varnish* to paint this big @$$ log. Can ya tell I'm really bored, yet? More specifically, It would take 138 and 1/4 boxes of *946mL High Gloss Pour On Alkyd Finish* which reportedly cover 8 square ft per box at $60 cdn per box. I estimate the log is 40' long with an average diameter of 8'. I used the area of a cylinder, which equals 1105.84061 sq ft of surface area.

For the people who don't know.. That is a Sequoia tree, they only grow in the Sierra mountains California (South East of Fresno) Beautiful place and perfect State to be hauling that tree seen in the video :)

Just going to say this you should wait until you're almost three quarters of the way through the intersection and then cut hard and when you downshift get it to neutral and pop that accelerator real quick before you go in to the next lowest gear

i hauled this tree before up hills and i stalled my truck flipped my truck and still delivered it was kinda easy

Very unrealistic to say the least. A load that large doesn't go anywhere in California without an escort. Certainly would not be allowed in a residential area. But definitely enjoyed watching you navigate so of those turns. Pretty awesome video brother.
BrAD Strayer It’s a mod dude. There is already a dlc that gets you big loads with police escort.

Prices tend to change very fast. I spent around $1200 on this build. Today it might be a lot cheaper.
how did you lower your axles in the beginning ?
+David Baltazar Depending on where you have it assigned, there is a button that activates the lift axle. Check the control settings and you will find it. Mine is in the left D-pad of the G27 shifter buttons. I honestly don't remember where it is with the default button layout.

+Larry Fick HAHA! Yeah. Good point. I think the person who made this mod forgot to assign the cargo to a different company, like in the industrial or rural areas.
Yeah, right LOL. I've played around with making trailer mods for ETS2. I hope soon I can make a few for ATS. I think I have managed to upload a Staples trailer mod, but it doesn't have specific cargoes.
+Larry Fick Oh, nice! I think trailers add a lot of replay value to the game. As is, the game has very few trailers. I'm always looking for more, but some modders are too careless with the cargo sizes and in some cases they are not able to fit in tunnels or underpasses.
I'm hoping they come out with a ATS Studio like ETS Studio so I can manage the cargoes for a trailer mod I create.

If you want to make tighter turns pick up your drop axel while your turning. when your done drop it again
+Reverend Mike (ShadowFIlms) Great advice! I've actually tired this, but unfortunately the game doesn't really simulate the steering variations with the drop axle up or down. Despite the single drop axle does have assisted steering (if you watch closely). Even with spread axle trailers, you can't feel the drag of the inner axle while turning.

Quick tip you shouldn't have the drop axle down when turning it's just causes a lot of unneeded oversteer
It actually creates a lot of understeer, but the lift axle steers a bit and makes it a bit easier.

Might create understeer, but aids the chassis in resisting undue stress. When you have that much gross weight, you need that extra axle, turning or not. The average tractor is set up for a max gross of approx 95,000 LBs on three axles. Granted, this also depends on how many axles the trailer has as well. It's a good gesture for simulation. And yes, in the game, there are trucks with tag axles that do steer. Prime example, the Mack Pinnacle. It has an available taglift that will steer when down.
