i just watched it and it's a very good movie. But, that subway scene reminded me a whole lot of the scene from Inglorious Basterds when "The Bear Jew" is introduced and while he's walking out of the dark tunnel he taps his bat on the wall. Tap, tap, tap, tap, tap.. In The Batman it's footsteps.

to add to this when he goes into the club as Batman he says: “do you know who I am?” and they laughed which shows that his fear hadn’t reached that far up the chain, until he gave them a good ol’ Batman beat down and chased down the penguin. They thought they were untouchable, until he showed up, and now they realize that NO-ONE is safe from the Batman, not even them.

The scene where Batman gets shot with a shotgun and almost gets killed shows how realistic and perfect the fight sequences were. And also the glider scene where his parachute gets stucked and he gets knocked out on street. Batman's imperfections is what made this movie soo realistic and something to connect with.

It reminds me of an intense feeling of the one in the Nolan series - the Dark Knight (I think) when Gordon throws on the Batsignal and a colleague asks him why and he says its to let people know Batman is out there and this crook bricks it when he sees the signal and tells his friend he's not going to do the job. However, I do like the fact that the crooks - every single one - bricks it when they see the signal because they think Batman's in the shadows, or in the air, or in the alley and the thing about it all? They never say anything: they all just look like over their shoulder thinking they know they done wrong and something is coming. Vengence? no....PUNISHMENT. Punishment is coming. (That's quoting another superhero though).

I love how realistic the fight scenes were in this one, compared not only to Nolan's or Snyder's Batman, but to the superhero genre overall... The hero gets worn-out, he gets outnumbered, he can only take himself so far, it takes him time to get back on his feet and the criminals also take their time to recover, it's just incredible and it really helps set the tone for the story... The 2 standout scenes to me were when the mugger saw the bat-logo and hesitated going into the alleyway and hearing Batman's loud, heavy footsteps inch closer as he emerges from the shadows and lays a smackdown on that gang. I never felt that fear Batman induces in criminals until I watched this scene, with Bruce's moody narration being the cherry on top of a sequence that already felt like a graphic novel come to life.

A lot of people have been complaining about the opening narration and think it’s lazy exposition, but forget that narration is a staple of Batman comics. His comics are iconic for being overlaid with his inner monologues.

yea man I love that he is the shadows something in Gothen criminals would take refuge in. Hiding in the shadows, a safe get away ,a creep in waiting ready to mug someone, a mobster doing a deal ext ... they all now have to worry about the batman being in their with them in Gotham. Its like the criminals have no were safe to hide as a result even at night the crime in the city seems to happen as if its in broad daylight yet under constant fear of the batman and batman doesn't see his effect of change and it only seems like the city has gotten worse . its beautiful story telling.

In costume, Pattinson cuts a regal and noble figure. The cowl with the longer, sharper bat ears evokes classic, comic book Batman by the likes of Neal Adams and others. So much to like, but one is how Batman spares that gang initiate who, symbolically, has only half his face painted as he’s about to complete his initiation into full criminality (and sociopathy)! Terrific film making!

This batman series is so grounded and realistic that idk if im piqued or concern with how they'll incorporate the more supernatural villains if they decide to touch them.
I like how the Riddler made Bruce realize the impact his abscence has, so I'm looking forward to him putting on a brighter facade appearance for the public if they go with the playboy philantropist approach.
Im also interested in them developing his detective skills as well as his emotional restraint. Past iterations werent really detective oriented so it this was a nice change of pace. And the scene where he confronts the Riddler and starts lashing while banging the glass when Riddler had one-up'd him felt excessive to warrant that kind of expression.
And also just smarter about his approach to situations and firearms. Dude just tried to tank them all on like he is superhuman, granted his armor is bullet proof; but that shotgun scene, he couldve done something to lessen the impact but dude decides to just walk straight into it, which ultimately almost cost him his life.
Also really enjoyed their creation, or visualization, of Gotham too. Everythings run down, rusty, uninviting. A place that's due for new management.

I still can’t get over how well Colin Ferells Penguin makeup is. He fully embraced the character and is unrecognizable as his real self. I love this version of Gordon, the Riddler embracing the crazy hyper intelligent villain persona ala Heath Ledgers Joker even though nothing can best that perfect villain, Paul Dano did a dang good job. The brutality of this Batman even surpasses the brutality of the Batman V Superman Batman. But what really did it for me in this movie is in his opening narrative dialogue when he spoke about the size of the city, how he cannot be everywhere at once, and that he needed to carefully choose where he would go in which felt like a critique of other Batman films that always seem to give Batman the ability to be everywhere.

Best film I've seen in the past five years, honestly. I mean that. Constant sense of menace and psychological threat. Masterful film score. Love the Crime Noir/Investigative Batman return. Gorgeous looking film. Combat scenes are well co-ordinated.
I love the darker take on The Batman, Batman (and The Bat Signal) as the Psychological Panopticon (Foucault reference) of Gotham City as Batman recognises he can't be everywhere at once so fear (hiding in the darkness, the unknown threat) is his most powerful asset, and in combat scenes the portrayal of Batman as the Inevitable Juggernaut, a nigh-unstoppable armored yet slow moving behemoth (compared to thugs) whom even in his incapacitation of his foes manages to maintain a sense of dread and brutality.
The use of light and dark in the film are brilliant. Bruce is a traumatised, destabilised individual- I personally like the fact that Bruce Wayne IS the Batman, not Bruce Wayne vs The Batman, this makes more sense to me due to Bruce's traumatic, tragic backstory and chaotic, stress-filled lifestyle coupled with lack of sleep.
Dano's take on The Riddler was fresh, he was genuinely intimidating and convinced me that he was fully unhinged and a megalomaniac. That opening scene was genuinely horrifying and intense- I'll say no more (No Spoilers).
The Penguin was also excellently played as a Mob Boss figure by Colin Farrell, a very convincing, gripping performance. I enjoyed Zoe Kravitz take on Catwoman, both heroic and vengeful, selfish yet with the capacity to be greater. The twist with The Riddler (No Spoilers) was an excellent one, the last thirty minutes of the film is packed with sociopolitical commentary and character development. Batman needs to become more than Vengeance. He realises he needs to be a beacon of hope, the 'Pied Piper' with the flare leading the civilians out of their dire situation (I won't explain how they found themselves there, no spoilers) turning this into a metaphor, but summarised in the dialogue from Patterson himself as the film is ending. Everything is spot on, for me personally. Didn't feel like a three hour film and I can't wait to watch it again to fully digest it.
Superb, if you haven't seen it, make sure you do, or you'll be missing out!

Fear is a tool, they captured that perfectly in this version of Batman, the heavy footsteps, the slow walk and even just the thought that Batman might be lurking in the shadows, we see the man but also the monster that the criminals see.

I think the introduction of the Joker is beyond everything, and the introduction in TDKR is very ambitious and it achieves that ambition. I don't think this introduction was better, it was more realistic or more pure of Batman, but the other ones are on a different level. There was inspiration in this film in TDK, for example the interrogation of the riddler has some similarities with the joker-bale scene. Paul Dano made an outstanding acting

And Paul Dano a.k.a the riddler should win an Academy Award for best supporting actor. His facial expressions and voice modulations upon his arrest and in the jail scene interrogations were some of the best acting I've seen! Epic psycho!

what's amazing about his Batman is that he's practically Superman. Just tanking everything just to put even more fear. To pound it into their heads that he is an unstoppable force and no matter what they do, they will get pounded into the ground and then some.
