Guns N Roses's success was because of all five members working collectively as a cohesive unit. Izzy was not the sole songwriter for the band. Yes, he played a big part in GNR and is often referred to as the heart and soul of the band. However, Slash wrote the main riffs to many of the Appetite for Destructions songs. Axl provided a lot of lyrics, and Duff and Steven provided the foundation. Each member of the band was a part of the magic.
i honestly TOTALLY TOTALLY always loved Izzy's guitar work more than Slash's. i used to pan to his side and be blown away by counter rhythms and funkiness that at that time was totally missing from rock music.
i love how straightforward and uncomplicated this song is. there is a (for lack of a better word) "looseness" to this song that left gnr after appetite. I now appreciate the fact that izzy's songwriting and playing was pretty much the bedrock that g n r was built upon.
este tío es sencillamente genial, la auténtica alma creativa de GNR, esta canción es lo mejor que he escuchado desde que empezó el nuevo siglo. Pura esencia rebelde de rock.
+Jeff Shirer both slash and izzy had their own roles. Izzy composes music, his was that basic ideas and slash gave to it some juice to become world known hits ;)
ohinek007 Duff and Izzy have proven since Guns that they don't need added 'juice' to write great songs. You only need to listen to Slash's solo albums to see he needs songwriters like them for him to thrive. No secret that VR all used to claim Dave Kushner was their unsung hero on those two albums either...
Dayle Clarke This is the first time I hear something like that about Dave Kushner. I think he would be more succesful than, VR rhythm guitarist, if youve got right. And now, avrybody knows that it is slash who write all his solo music, andy myles kennedy just the lyrics
Id say Izzy was actually too straightforward for the band. He wanted to play rock n' roll to small audiences, and he wanted things to be fair, with a minimum of fuss and bullshit. He likely did not care for Axl's lengthy ballads, huge arenas full of people, the backing musicians and piano, and he certainly didn't care for Axl's temper tantrums and chronic inability to start a show on time, or his walking off after a few songs because he was in a bad mood.
I like this a lot. Haven't listened to much of Izzy's solo stuff oddly. Heard a few songs that I liked all right but not like "Dust N Bones" or "14 Years" (brilliant songs IMO). This is a nice classic rock and roll song. Izzy will always be underrated. Please rejoin GNR Izzy I refuse to see them without you.
14 years (Stradlin'/ Rose) Don't cry (Stradlin'/ Rose) You Could be Mine (Stradlin'/ Rose) Pretty Tied Up (Stradlin') Estranged (Rose) Civil War (Slash / McKagan / Rose) Yesterday (Arkeen/James/Billy/Rose)
amazing artist and forgone the gunners permanently! Theres no question the gunners comp but thats just a confirmation that izzy was the main creative force behind the band. izzy was the true gunner!
Attention: If anybody out there is working on a list of the most underrated or underappreciated singer/songwriters of all time, make sure you put Izzy Stradlin on it. Thanks.
Some would say "Izzy" was the forgotten Gunner, but we musicians have always recognized him in every song, and missed him when he left. ...Speaking of replacements, did anyone ever have the feeling that Gilbey Clarke was kind of tethered, almost leashed, when they toured in the early 90's? It seemed like everyone else was free to run around on stage, but Gilbey just had to stand in his 6x6 area, and couldn't move that much, and really be part of the show. If you watch the old shows, maybe you'll notice what I'm trying to say. I kinda felt bad for the guy.
He's always stayed true to how he thinks rock n' roll should sound which makes him so cool. If you've ready Slash's, Steven's or Duff's book they all say how cool he was with his style and his cool personality and how GNR probably would never have existed without him.
Izzy always said that he left previous bands coz it didn't want to take the shit from lead singers but the trurh seems that he just wanted to be a singer himself
the heart and soul of guns n roses. they were never the same after he left. good to see he's still going strong, doing what he does best. rock on izzy!
Very much a Tom Petty and THB's vibe going on here. Would love to have seen more of your material Izzy. You're complete the trifecta between you, Keith and Malcolm.
Other guitarist looks like a Slash/Howard Stern hybrid. Ace Frehley on drums. Skinny Zac Wylde on Bass. Ben Stiller from Dodgeball on keys. Now that's a supergroup.
It would have been a guns and roses song or composition. It's so easy to imagine slash doing the riffs on this song, Adler shaking his head with the drums, Axl screaming like the old days, duff like its some punk rocker class song. That's what made this people legends
This scratching along the guitar neck ist becoming a Trademark. And i think as simple it is, it works. Its also on "Take it Easy" an other amazing Izzy Stradlin Song.
They all miss each other. Look at Axl's (now former) lead guitarist DJ Ashba he made him wear a top hat. And Richard Fortus the rhythm guitarist looks just like Izzy. Adler basically cries himself to sleep every night and Duff plays with GN'R any chance he gets. Slash has a Fathead of Axl in his tour bus. It's only s matter of time.
I not saying the members of G'n'R are not talented but Izzy Stradlin was the most underrated member of that band and his solo works prove it. Keep popping in and out of the public eye Izzy, everyone will accept you.
Without Izzy in GnR you would have never heard of them. Love Izzy's sound... Absolutely legendary!
Guns 'N Izzy :-)!
💯 Izzy was the roll in GnR no Izzy no GnR 👍❤️❤️
Facts. He also wrote most of paradise city from what I’ve gathered and most of the other hits. His rhythm on rocket queen is untouchable

@kylesmith9944 Izzys sound and groove was the backbone of Appetite in its entirety.
Jesus! This is what G&R is missing. Izzy Rocks! Where are you Izzy? We need more Rock nRoll
This sounds so good. No frills, just soul. Izzy keeps it so real. Truly the heart of GNR.
Imagine Axl singing this
@@tonymaurice4157 No.This is Punk song..
i honestly TOTALLY TOTALLY always loved Izzy's guitar work more than Slash's.

Izzy is great but you're a liar
So great rock n roll songs can still be written. Also who the hell would dislike this. Its the shit.

i know your comment is older... but thats exactly what i felt listening to this song ❤️ this was the reason i loved appetite so much
Izzy really is the coolest guy ever. I wish he would tour more. Would love to see him live.
Please be a part of the G'n'R Reunion too !!!
I love Izzy so much. Awesome voice, awesome guitar skills, awesome song lyrics ! 💕
we need more izzy!
Izzy was the rock and roll guy in GNR while Axl was the ballad guy. Together they made some of the greatest songs in rock music...
Izzy Stradlin = Rock n' Roll✌😎 I ❤ IZZY!!!
Nelson Romero he’s really a cool guy 😎
Izzy all the way!
This is one of the best things I've ever listened. Izzy 4ever. Izzy rules...
Yeah man good tune!
Izzy fucking rocks. Too bad for us he doesn't seem to want to share it with the world too often , but he's not under any obligation.
izzy released lot of music after his gnr deparature
I don't know about that. We all have an obligation to share our gifts. Not just Izzy. All of us.
Am i crazy because i find it awesome??IZZY=LEGEND
Will always be the most gifted musician and song writer from GNR
I don't always listen to Izzy but when I do so do my neighbors
hahaha you rock!

this is what music is about, just plain music no egos... I have loved you since I was 15 years old... because of the music. thank you, Izzy.

Izzy was too sophisticated for G&R. I wish there was more from him. Amazing song writer.

That probably was because Axl hated Gilbey's guts and he told him "you stay right the fuck there or you're out."

This sounds more like the old guns n roses than Chinese democracy
Well yes, Axl never wanted CD to sound like old guns...
That's obvious, in GN'R izzy was the soul
The whole point of Chinese Democracy was cause Axl wanted to experiment with other genres, it wasn’t meant to sound like old guns at all
I love when he leans his head after last sound... This is such in his style.
Someone scoffed at the lyrics. fair enough. the line about her back on the train refers to her going back to Heroin and not a method of travel.
Happy Birthday Bro
Him and johnny marr are two sides of the same coin
Finally! Someone who speaks rock 'n' roll.
It sounds like "Doctor Alibi" by Slash and Lemmy Kilmister ...
THIS IS A GREAT SONG, AND AWESOME MUSICIANSHIP, I LOVE IT, COUSIN FIGEL
I guess izzy must miss Slash since his lead guitarist looks like a wider, older slash xD
Its funny because he does resemble slash, all he needs is the hat... He's got the Les Paul AND the curly hair.
