I have seen everyone from Frank Sinatra to the Clash and I have to say Trombone Shorty and Orleans Ave is the BEST live act I have ever seen. It's not just Shorty - it's the whole band. Amazing, life affirming stuff.
Trumpet is his SECOND instrument? I love Louis Armstrong, Harry James, Roy Eldridge, Miles, and Wynton. Yet I've never heard a player with such total command of his instrument. Thanks, Shorty, for keeping jazz alive and for your brilliance. Even Louis might bow down before you.
I'm so glad I've seen this all my life being from New Orleans grew up next door to Troy Andrew with his brotherJames I remember his mom making them play all day in Milton Court in the 7th ward
I saw him in California he is the best I have ever seen in life time!!! I hope he come back to California soon I just love him may God bless him always ❤️
I see these young peeps and now realize many of the talents are born outa school bands, bothe elementary and high school bands, it is most awesome...must keep music in the schools so important!!.....
That bassist is the undersung hero of this piece. Listen to those grooves and just try to tell me they don't add half the song's substance, I dare you.
I find it amusing that audiences will rouse for some of the simplest stuff like doing a flutter tongue note. Something that a child can do on the first day of playing a trombone. But they don’t know any better. At this point I just think applause is expected so it’s given as a tradition. I wonder if a room full of only other musicians would do the same…🤷🏿♂️
You know most musicians aren’t like you? That maybe other musicians would find your reaction embarrassing and elitist? It’s not about the complexity of the technique, it’s about the execution! The soul and the melody of it.
Gotta say, for a trombone player, he's a better trumpet player than most actual trumpet players.
Agreed
He's got the music bug!
Exact Right
As a trumpet player I’m humbled
You are totally right😇
@@RW-ob4enI am a trumpet player too. I can only dream of playing like that.
12 years and still fresh and gold!

Mmmmm I love me some flutter tongue 😝
Unlike the 2009 performance where the crowd didn’t do anything after a minute and 35 seconds of circular breathing
You know most musicians aren’t like you? That maybe other musicians would find your reaction embarrassing and elitist? It’s not about the complexity of the technique, it’s about the execution! The soul and the melody of it.
I don't understand the hype over this guy. There are MANY, many, many far better players than him.
