Ever wanted to spend your day driving new BMWs on the open road without a pesky salesperson riding shotgun? How bout auto crossing two of their best selling non M vehicles? Well I got to do precisely that, all just by having a valid drivers license.
BMW's "Ultimate Driving Experience" is meant to entice future buyers and I believe it most certainly does. However it also serves another purpose, giving aspiring automotive journalists like myself the opportunity to drive almost all of their current vehicles. I say almost all because they don't include the M series vehicles in the street drive.
For the pleasure of driving an M235i or M3/4, one must shell out $650. I find this to be more than reasonable as that barely covers the cost of the tires you'll destroy. In addition to murdering rubber all day long you get professional instruction and a whole lot of aural pleasure.
Speaking of which, the highlight of my experience was the burbling exhaust from the 650i Gran Coupe and 650i convertible. I know BMW pumps in some exhaust noise through the speakers but with the windows down or top down, you get to hear the real thing and man is it awesome. I've tried to convey this as best I can in the video, I do hope you enjoy.
