    • @PartDistribution
      @PartDistribution 3 года назад

      Not necessarily. If it's an obvious feature you are adding, or if there is any other public image or video or anything of anyone ever doing it before, then no.
      Beyond that, even if you can get a patent, doesn't mean you should. Patents are rarely of value to first time inventors, a hinderance many times. You need to validate with certainty that your target customer would indeed pay money for your welding hood over all the others. That is your priority.

      In my experience, start with the concept that you think will be the easiest to produce and fastest to get to a point that you can sell it. The simplest design, the smallest physical product. The reason is to use this one as your "School". Learn how to bring a product to market. Save the more complex concepts for after you have this "Win" under your belt.

      @@ayamore8885 companies that make prototypes are generally quite expensive. This is because the engineering and also innovation skills it takes to make something professional is quite high. I know, because I am an engineer who makes a lot of prototypes. HOW CAN I SEND RUclips MY INVETTION

  • @MrWelfarehater
    @MrWelfarehater 5 лет назад +3

    You guys forgot 1 extremely important aspect. Is the market ready? No really, I invented a transit bus seat cover that is removable, extremely easy to clean, repairable when vandalized and exchangeable. I presented it to the industry, I was laughed at, humiliated, made fun of, called stupid, and I will never forget the quote from the head engineer of the transit seat industry. "We have been building bus seats this way for over a hundred years, why would we switch? Feeling defeated I went and made huge improvements on a great design. Again same treatment, except this time I switched over to another industry. Ironically I would have gladly given that seat idea away. Before plunking down 11 grand I will make sure that this works. Buddy my idea (I shouldn't brag is awesome).

    • @inventRight
      @inventRight  5 лет назад +1

      If your idea is too new/revolutionary, it will be difficult to license. You're absolutely correct about that. Companies are risk-averse, which is why we recommend focusing on inventing a simple improvement to an existing product - if your goal is licensing. Thank you for watching.

    • @MrWelfarehater
      @MrWelfarehater 5 лет назад

      @@inventRight Thanks for commenting. Actually the end goal was to change transit seating, compensation or no compensation. I am selling the idea in another industry. If you go to my channel you can watch a video on a folding chair cushion. It is a horrible video, a mistake to make. I made a superior version. You won't believe the amount of testing and modification necessary to make a great prototype. I don't want to spend 11K on a bad prototype. All in all though, it is fun inventing. Compensation or no compensation. Marketing does suck though.

    • @MrWelfarehater
      @MrWelfarehater 4 года назад

      @@simplynas2198 the biggest transit seat company in America, their research and development arm. Then to the biggest aftermarket seat manufacturer. Were they going to steal my idea, that would be okay if they developed the idea and actually changed the transit seat industry. Transit seats are horrible, expensive, and super hard to keep clean because of an outdated design. Reapplied the idea to the home metal chair. Since my prototype was actually built on an Ikea folding chair. I had to change the design a few times, but actually made one that is super easy to make and super cheap. Tried to sell that one no luck. I actually plan to drop that one on RUclips (like give it away), but I have to do a patent search on it to make sure no one else has it under patent. Extremely doubt it. Ironically I contacted a patent attorney about doing it for money, not pro-Bono. Patent Attorneys I find are extremely greedy. Since I would be paying under a grand for about an hour of work instead of 15 grand for a dog and pony show, the lawyer was not interested. Now you may be asking why give it away. Well it is extremely hard for me to sell any idea to industry. Although the folding chair cover is far superior to the upholstered folding chairs that Costco sells at Walmart, there are a couple of flaws. And yes there is a much better version in the works. The current one relies heavily on hook and loop fasteners, otherwise known as Velcro. The new one does not. No hook and loop fasteners. My target industry is the rental industry.

    • @PartDistribution
      @PartDistribution 3 года назад

      I didn't see your video in your page.
      I come from the rental industry as the family business growing up, and still have international connections in the industry. I have dealt with more rental folding chairs than you can shake a stick at.
      As some insight, we never dealt with covers because it's cost and time that isn't necessary. Why would we add cost to a rental chair? Why would we add time to our setup? You can't charge more, people baulk at the cost of a rental chair as it is. Rarely had anyone ever ask for them. The labor cost of dealing with them for setup/ take down is high. Most rental centers don't have enough warehouse space as it is, and they don't nest well. They want to consume that space with higher margin items.
      In many industries, it is cheaper to simply replace the seat when needed than to add covers and such. That is certainly the case for rental. At most, I could see a dozen or so for only the bride and groom chairs just to set them apart. But just different chairs works just the same. I can tell you there isn't any volume in it. Making one slightly better isn't worth any premium. Speaking from someone with a lot of experience in exactly that market anyway.
      I personally would rather you take that investment money you have and focus it on something that has a larger impact on society. But that is just me.

    Don't forget, is it easy to distribute? Very hard to make money when you are shipping a lot of air, as these costs are calculated by dimensional weight, not actual weight, eg my Lego sorter BOX4BLOX product is approx 11" cube and weighs just under 4lb in its shipping carton, but weight is calculated on its size, which is (11 x 11 x 11) ÷ 139 = 9.581bs = 10lbs, which means every time it is moved it cost a lot of money and profit.

    In this video you are talking about making "improvements" on existing products. But, what about an all together NEW product that does not exist. How would one get to know if it IS a good invention.
    Also, I would think that doing "improvements" could backfire since there are companies that will not want to take on an improvement when they have already invested in the older model and have big $ in stock to deal with.

    Because I have redesigned completely solved every single obviousness objection from thePatent clerks Report back to my patent lawyer for an office action that report I went through completely and re-designed my idea around their obviousness objections and then my patent lawyer said that he could not resubmit the entire new idea as it now is a new application how does that work I’m very very frustrated and if you could get back to me I would really appreciate it because the Redevelopment of the old idea in my opinion all of the Obviousness objections to the individualness of the patent were solved but yet the Patent office sent it back for another office action and in their words a second finalOffice action I’ve spent over $20,000 just to try and get a patent it seems to me I’m getting the runaround and I would like to know what you think about that no I have received another patent with no problem but for some reason this one seems to be obviously objectionable as I say I went through the report that to the Patent office sent to my lawyer and item by item I changed so that it was not obviously Objectionable as it seems in the mind of the patent office clerk my invention came into being because it is obvious that my invention came in to being because of the use of And I am Hook systemand I hook and a hook as a as an opening locking mechanism or a strap to hold onto it my whole invention came about because of the strap that a previous patent had included and submitted and 20 other similar things absolutely ridiculous and of course for each office action it’s another five to $700 on top fees what can I do can I remove that patent from this company and submit it through another company oh there’s a paper trail now 10 miles long I would just like to here your thoughts on the matter as you were saying it could be faster or it could be more efficient but all of those things would be obvious in the objections because if you have a clasp to close something or Velcro or if you used the bottom of whatever you’re designing as the opening it would be obvious to somebody with limited knowledge that my invention was designed with the bottom as the opening and I got that idea from the other patented idea

      My idea is BallPro & basically it's a ball that has capabilities of teaching you how to do anything you want in that field. This ball can teach you how to shoot a basketball like a pro. Now the issue about this invention is simply obvious , How do you invent something like this when there is RUclips videos how to shoot. Well, that's when the invention kicks in it's suppose to short your learning curve for that matter.
      I hope someone can use my idea , And please invent something like this so the next future Stephen Curry shooter can be here.

      I think you should program the ball with all information pertaining to basketball s if a person misses the shot the ball can tell them exactly what to do as far with the you tube you can incorporate it by having some other mechanism on the ball where you can visual watch you tube ball and after each session you can watch your moves on the television or the computer well the person can get better I guess it's all how you build the ball I think the screen should be on the side of the ball where it can slide in and out it's should also plugs where you could connect to the TV and the computer

    What if I have no interest in any monetary value of my idea? It just needs to get done! Aren't automatic washing machines a great idea that seriously needed to get done?! My daughter has babies, uses cloth diapers.. I set on the side of the tub over the toilet every week scraping pooh off of the soiled diapers. Look on RUclips at all the gals that go through this process just as I do. There is absolutely nothing out "on the market" that a person can buy to prep or otherwise deal with the poopy diapers, aside from putting them in a diaper pail and do the poopy scrape ever few days.. Somebody needs to invent a "Poopy-nator" -a device or appliance that eliminates (or significantly reduces!) time/energy sitting next to the toilet scraping diaper pooh.. Cloth diapers are great money (and environment) savers, but the bottleneck, mainly, is the poohed diapers. The pee diapers are no problem.

    • @zuutlmna
      @zuutlmna 4 года назад

      The specifics of the poopy cloth diaper problem is that they usually don't pile up fast enough and the pooh begins to dry and sometimes bond to the fabric. Maybe some kind of soak bin that vibrates the soil loose, while they soak in a mild (baby friendly) disinfectant solution, until enough soaked diapers accumulate to justify a load in the washing machine. There's really a lot of play to the idea, in terms of how simplistic or mechanically involved/complex the (yet to be invented/developed) device can be.

      Luckily for me, my daughter broke out with cloth diapers.
      People want profit because bringing a product to market is very expensive and very time consuming. The gate keeper with inventing is that it's difficult and expensive with a lot of risk, not some obstructing lobby. If you want to work for free and invest the $50-$200K+ it would take, by all means, have at it. The country hanging on depends on it after all. But really, you have nothing to sign off on other than putting puppy diapers in an ultrasonic cleaner.
      How about this. Order an ultrasonic cleaner from Harbor Freight. Get some sort of Honest Company baby stuff cleaner. Then two small 100 gpm or smaller water pumps. One line in from a fresh water basin, one line out through a tube directly down the drain (For smell). Then give it a shot. Probably have only $200 or so into it and find out if the basic concept works. If it does, then you know you can invest in a better prototype with controller, proper basin with overflow (You can't overfill those ultrasonic cleaners or else you get problems in the electronics), and safety mechanism (humans can't touch ultrasonic liquid or it will boil your blood). Then once you do all that and it works. Maybe only have $40-50K into that. Then you can sign that off to people and then there is at least a couple percent chance someone will take it the rest of the way.

    Inventions don't need to solve problems to be patentable! One of the biggest lies in patent law. Just look at the magic 8 ball as an example.

    • @AnunnakiThe1
      @AnunnakiThe1 6 лет назад

      wrong @ James , the number one reason why you invent things is to solve problems ,some inventions are out there and had no patent at all WD40 is big example , the Romans invented Concrete to solve the the problems of mortar filling in stone structures , the Sumerians invented the wheel to better expand their trades and agriculture , the Assyrians invented the first infrastructure ( from sewage system to garbage removal units ) to keep their cities sanitized .
      as for patent law , it is there to protect you from been robbed by others whom may copy your Idea , therefore the best way is to do utility patent rather than the design patent , design patent usually apply in electronics since you can't have a patent on say : capacitor or transistor , so you patent the circuitry by its design for example , some areas can become utility patent in electronic devices ( such as their mechanical and body frame ) in example : the Chinese 100+ ( aka V-6 ) if you recall in 2014 claimed the I phone -6 stole it from them they both look almost the same body frame .

    • @lawless_defendant
      @lawless_defendant 6 лет назад

      AnunnakiThe1 Im sorry but your wrong and you might not be intelligent enough to understand why. Inventions don't need to solve problems and your an idiot if you believe they do. The reason why inventions benifit from solving problems is so they can be profitable inventions but there are way too many inventions that don't solve any problems and are very profitable. I mentioned the manic 8 ball earlier but you are not intelligent enough to comprehend my example so let me take it a step further despite your ignorance . Some of the most profitable patents are for games and NON of those patents are solving any problems! In fact some of the best inventions cause more problems for consumers that love them. For example Nintendo patented Pokemon Go's technology and that game doesn't solve anyone's problem (don't say it helps the kids that stay home all day because going outside to be glued to your phone is not enjoying the outdoors and that's not a solution to the problem anyways). In fact Pokemon go probably creates more problems for consumers. But just look at Nintendo's new patent on rfid playing card. Obviously that invention is super cool and will be very fun to play but does not solve any consumer problems what so ever.
      Bottom line, I habe a bacherlars in business administration who also has owned several startup businesses and I have 2 US utility patents so I know what I'm talking about, your completely wrong and cited multiple examples. But the main reason why your wrong is if you did any research before writing your dumb ass reply you would know what I'm saying is common knowledge. But your probably some idiot teenage when I'm 32 and im a part time high school business teacher. But at least your dumb ass comment will live forever on the internet exposing you as the ignorant idiot you are.

    • @lawless_defendant
      @lawless_defendant 6 лет назад

      AnunnakiThe1 Please you insulted me, I mearly retorted your insults. If you have so many patents than you should know there is no requirement that an invention needs to solve a problem. That's pure horse shit that you made up. The only requirement that is anywhere close to problem solving is that an invention needs to be useful, but that doesn't mean it needs to solve a problem or even come up with a better solution to a problem. The number 1 requirement is that the invention must be original and in less it's highly radioactive you should have no problem patenting it.
