Hi, thanks for your reaction. I'm French and as far as their pronunciation goes, it didn't bother me at all. She was even pretty good (and understandable) with only a few mistakes like not slurring a few times or "parfaitement" pronounced "farfaitement", but nothing huge. I love they gave some spooky Halloween vibe and Disney vibe there at the same time. I'm curious to see that you first try it with eyes closed and count how many voices distinctively singing. I was hoping their performance would satisfy you as an acting and performance coach, and I'm glad it did. lol As already mentioned in a few comments, even Serge Lama (who wrote the lyrics and originally performed the song) was impressed and shared it on his social media. There are some performances by Forestella where everyone has about an equal share and in other songs one takes the lead. It was a wise decision to give Bae Doohoon (the one on the right) the biggest part because he is a musical actor ;-) I'm not comparing artists, and there's a big difference between one woman singing a song and four men, but on an emotional level, they did this song justice. Vocally, they are definitely top notch. Thanks for your analysis Brandon.

I am impressed that the new generation love Lara Fabian’s performances so much they feel compelled to perform and not just sing her music. I think Lara would feel honored by their performance. She always holds her heart and offers her hand out to young performers. It’s obvious Lara has been an inspiration on how to use phrasing and dynamics to emote the story within the song. As her fans know, she is masterful at doing so. Another obvious note, it’s taking four awesome voices to be able to do what she alone communicates in her performances. Love this performance.👏🙌❤️

There are a few French Speaking Reactors who have Reacted to this (knowing Lara Fabien version) and they don't have a problem, and are often as transfixed as if pronunciation IS perfect. For me, who speaks English, but has a fair grasp of French, I was a puddle on the floor by the end of this. Their Bohemian Rhapsody is a stunning version (Freddie would have lived it). Their "Shape of you" is better than Ed Sheerin's, their "Sweet Dreams" matches Eurythmics, their "Bad Romance" is quirky and vocally very clever. But for me, THIS performance is sublime in its vocals and emotion. Their English prununciation on English songs is stunningly good. Spanish people say their Spanish is great. French don't have issues with their French. Waiting for those who speak Zulu (not a joke.. They do that in "Shape of you") to say if their pronunciation of Zulu language is good. Unlike Dimash (whose heavy accent does sometimes jar), I have no such issues with Forestella. Kang (the one I haven't mentioned) had no vocal trading and was a part time ROCK singer. To see him you should watch his solo "Phantom of the Opera" 😲 🔥 😲 Has to be seen to be believed. Or "Hijo de la Luna" or "Nella Fantasia". He has the most stunning natural vocals I've ever heard.

Thank you for the good explanation of Forestella music. However, there are some corrections to be made. Kang Hyung-ho was not a part-time rock singer. He worked as a chemistry researcher. And he worked as a rocker in an amateur rock band and turned completely into a singer after winning an audition program in 2017.😃
Their music is limitless. This song is just the beginning of how wonderfully they create so many genres of music with their own colors. Check out more of their music.🥰
As a acting coach you should react to Balaba Para un Logo by Cho Min-Gyu (the third member of the group), It's a master class! I don't know Argentinian but I didn't have to, he convey every feeling!
In the comment section of Cho Mingyu's La Balada para un Loco video is full of compliments from Argentine people for his accurate pronunciation and emotional interpretation as far I could find. (And when this Je suis malade was available abroad in JTBC entertainment channel a lot of French people complimented their pronunciation and interpretation too. ) Even the original singer Serge Lama posted his praises on his official SNS.
I like the way you react. All of a sudden, I'm concentrating on listening to your words and music. As a Forestella fan, I want to hear more of their songs in your way.
I only speak and understand English. To me, it was like listening to an opera, not understanding the words but getting all the emotion... Incredible...
It would be very weird, indeed. And I am grateful for all the different voices giving me their opinions. As an English speaker, the only thing I can do is pull from my personal experiences having listened to French performers and watching French films, etc. Not all here agree that it was totally perfect, and I'm glad of that. It's wonderful and more useful to hear many different opinions. It is important to note that, while my intention was never to criticize in a destructive way, it is my job here in these videos to speak my mind as I experience these performances. I can be wrong - in fact I am often wrong - and I'm grateful that the point isn't to be right 😊. I only try to be honest and rely on your grace as viewers to let me know where I may have gone off course. For that - for you - I am grateful 🥰
AHHH THIS IS JUST 😭🙏😭🙏😭🙏😭🙏🤌🏻🤌🏻👏👏👏 ALSO I KNEW YOU WOULD LOVE DOOHOON (far right) Also you mentioned you thought the Mingyu(3rd from left) might be classically trained and YOU'RE RIGHT , actually he and woorim(bass) both are Doohoon and hyungho(2nd from left) aren't like thay but doohoon is a musical actor too, and hyungho's voice Is just plain unreal 😍 I also remembered hyungho did a performance of phantom of the opera which is also fabulous and really shows off his range 🤌🏻 This video was great 👏👏👏👏
Hi Brandon.. so clearly I am not Micheal... but let me suggest something that will stun you even more than this... Snail by forestella.. it's the FULL PACKAGE!! not many has reacted to it and it is a shame as you will see Forestella in the most vulnerable status you can imagine... it's in their native language, it has emotions! And harmony like no other. To be more immersed in this song I recommend you reading the lyrics: Sometimes the way home takes so long Sometimes I get so tired and exhausted As soon as I open the door, I fall asleep And when I wake up, no one is there When I lay my body in the small bathtub, A small snail comes to me and whispers in a soft voice That someday when that day comes, it will go to the ocean at the end of this harsh world No one saw it but I will follow the sound of the waves in my memory I want to go forever Everyone is in their cars, going somewhere. I am walking on the street with a pack of cigarettes and a melting icecream bar The sun is up high, shining on me When a small snail comes to me And greets me and sings for me quietly That someday when that day comes, it will go to the ocean at the end of this harsh world No one saw it but I will follow the sound of the waves in my memory I want to go forever I gave up my everything But now everything is fading away like smoke With my remaining strengh, in my last dream, I will cross the ocean so I will forget everything That someday when that day comes, it will go to the ocean at the end of this harsh world No one saw it but I will follow the sound of the waves in my memory I want to go forever
5:42 That stage was a survival audition, so it was a very emotionally burdensome stage for the singers. And originally he sings every song with all his emotions out there. He is a musical actor, so there are some things that he can express his emotions better. Next time Doohun sings Woorim's song, the reaction seems to be the same in all countries. When I heard this song, it was emotionally hard for me too. That's why I recommend Forestella's 'Shape of You'. The song is upbeat and much easier to listen to. Of course it's still fantastic.
@eurovision de la chanson They covered the female version of Lara Fabian. Although they are male, they tried to capture the delicate sensibilities of women, and they sang from a woman's point of view, so they pronounce it that way.😊
@@푸른사자-t5c if you know the story of the song like most francophones do... the song was written by a man who wrote about his experience. Forestrella's version is more close to the original than Fabian's.
@@Luke0701 Yes. It is true that the original song was written based on the experiences of Serge Lamar. However, the intention of the original song is not very important because the cover song does not follow the original song as it is, but contains a new interpretation of emotions from the perspective of the singer who covers it. Lara Fabian also has her own sensibility. Forestella also has their own interpretation, so there is no need to compare this song to the original song, as it is a different color from the original song.😊
@@Luke0701 Their songs are only their own emotions and it is difficult to say that they are close to the original songs. They contained their own sensibility without losing the essence of the original song. That is the value of a cover song.
I enjoyed your reaction. It's easy to read because there are subtitles. There are a lot of videos of Forrestella, so please continue to show us your reactions. I recommend Sohyang, a Korean singer, because you like to see new artists. There will be a lot of videos. And I recommend Park Hyo Shin's Wild Flower music video. I think it's your favorite music video. Most Korean singers don't just sing. Since interpretation of the song is important, I express it with eyes, facial expressions, gestures, and choreography. I like to see your reactions. I press subscribe and like.^^
I honestly think to truly appreciate this performance, you need to absolutely love Lara’s performance, because they truly do an incredible job with this song. I was very hesitant myself, Lara sets such a high bar for this song, the original singer, well let’s just say that Lara took possession of this song when she covered it, I will leave it at that. But I love the French feel in the introduction music, I love the arrangement, the emotion Forestella puts into this, it’s fantastic ❤
I was surprised by your professional analysis. Forrestella has two (bass and a high tenor sound) trained singer. The guy who delivered pain is a musical actor. You would surprise if you see rock opra songs which I recommend “Lazenca save us" and "Bohemian Rhapsody."
As some others have recommended, you should check out the classically trained tenor of this group, Cho Mingyu, performing “Balada para un loco,” one of the most well known Argentinian compositions. Thanks!
The part where you kept repeating i also did the same when watching this stage for the first time. I still do it everytime i go back to rewatch lol. Bae Doo-Hoon was originally a musical actor. He knows how to act and that part gets me everytime haha. Also you were correct about one of the guys being classically trained. Two of them the bass(Ko Woo-Rim) and the tenor(Cho Min-Kyu) were both classical singers while the other two werent. The soprano(Kang Hyung-Ho) wasn't even in the singing field before forestella. he used to be a research scientist lol.
hey there, just to mention their french is very very good, for a non-native or fluent, such as myself. actually some french people have worse pronounciation 😅 they are just PERFECT! that said, I love your reactions and how you explain things... keep it up! 🙌 greentings from Costa Rica!💙🤍❤🤍💙
They were individual competitors on a survival elimination show called "Phantom Singer" whose goal was to create a crossover vocal quartet like II Divo. They compete 1 v. 1, then the survivors move on to recruit for duos, then trios... and finally the Quartet. The guy 2nd from the right (Mingyu) won every round and that gave him the chance to recruit the others. Left to right Woorim - Classically trained Basso Profundo Hyungho - Rock Countertenor (zero training until he joined the group) Mingyu - Leader and Classically trained Leggiero Tenor (he and Woorim went to the same school) Doohoon - Musical Theater Actor, Baritenor They are lightning in a bottle. The show has turned out several great quartets, but none have the widespread appeal of Forestella. They are a man down for the next year+ as their Bass, Woorim, completes his Mandatory Military service.
I have seen many french vocal coachs react to that performance and they all said their prons were remarkable especially for 4 korean people who never spoke french before 😂 but its okay for you to think different youre not french and you listen to that song so many times so it might bother you when you didnt hear the exact words maybe idk 😂
Hello Brandon, this is not "Scarborough Fair", which is an english song (and which forestella's cover is wonderful too). it's "Je suis Malade", a french song. The title of your video is not good. But the reaction is nice. 🥰 And I'd like so much to see you reacting to Chenyu Hua, "Nunchuks" (ruclips.net/video/lLs-0A0yEuA/видео.html)... And Zhou Shen, "ring the doorbell" (ruclips.net/video/Ao1g_8vaNbc/видео.html)
the 2 ends are opera trained the right second is a stage performer/ singer the left second is a chemist who was a researcher and self taught singer - but all together and helped to polish each other - they are amazing - i found this info in a video some time back, hope the info is right
You have given me a new appreciation for this song and their choices. As a non-musician and one who doesn't have a poetic bone in her body, I miss too much when listening to music. I've listened to most of their covers like Scarborough Fair, Despacito, Bad Romance, and Sweet Dreams (to mention a few). I thoroughly enjoy those. I knew they were astounding covers but didn't understand why. I had no words to describe my reaction. Still don't, but now I have a little bit more understanding why I respond so deeply to these boys. Thank you.
Saludos
They definitely studied Lara's performance and really know what they're singing. I'm not sure about the base in the beginning (to much breath for my liking) but for the rest it's a well thought out performance. I still prefer Lara's version though. Maybe I would've liked it more if they had made a Korean version of it, so they wouldn't have to worry about their pronunciation, because that was - at times - really bad.
Forestella is such an awesome group, and each member is so talented! I would like to see your opinion on member Cho Mingyu's "Balada de la Trompeta" performance
I remember I did NOT subscribe a year ago because you criticized the English pronunciation of Dimash so much. Today I meet you again and the same with these guys. But, I invite you to see how his English Dimash has improved from 2017 (ADAGIO) to 2021 with #STRANGER A Hug.
Just a quick, really simple, yes or no question if you don’t mind: that video that I listened to and “criticized” Dimash, was his pronunciation awesome? Just curious.
@@tnae My answer is Yes. And you did not answer if you are willing to see his evolution in pronunciation and see him now 5 years later with his English in STRANGER. It seems that you only care about being right.
@@juliaclementfontaine3506 well the thing is that if you are telling me that his pronunciation was already great in that first video I reacted to then obviously the problem isn’t his Pronunciation but is in fact me. I thought you meant that he had gotten much betterbut in order to get better he would have had to be non great. But you’re saying he was already great so what evolution exactly are you asking me to see?

I don't understand why you keep pointing out that they have bad pronunciations ?? when native Frech people said that they sang the song very good in French and French people understand the lyrics then it doesn't matter.. and it shouldn't be matter. I think Forestella did a amazing job on this.

Their music is limitless. This song is just the beginning of how wonderfully they create so many genres of music with their own colors. Check out more of their music.🥰
Hola muchas gracias por mostrar a Forestella. Estos chicos son espectaculares. Saludos afectuosos desde Chile, América del Sur.
As a acting coach you should react to Balaba Para un Logo by Cho Min-Gyu (the third member of the group), It's a master class! I don't know Argentinian but I didn't have to, he convey every feeling!
Loco is the best!
I agree with you~It was amazing~
I like the way you react. All of a sudden, I'm concentrating on listening to your words and music. As a Forestella fan, I want to hear more of their songs in your way.
Not even us people who have french as native language are bothered by their pronunciation, they did a great job.
LOVE it! 🥰
I only speak and understand English. To me, it was like listening to an opera, not understanding the words but getting all the emotion... Incredible...
The green English subtitles are visible despite the use of the filter. ;-)
I am fluent in French as I live in Quebec also (like Lara) and their french is amazing considering the song..
Thanks for your reaction. Another hit is 'As I live'. You will love it.
forestella - champions , Hijo de la Luna, nella fantasia, Save our lives, shape of you 무대도 추천합니다
Thank you. is it not weird that English criticize French pronunciation when native French say it is all good and perfect??
You have to listen to "Time in a Bottle"....!!!
AHHH THIS IS JUST 😭🙏😭🙏😭🙏😭🙏🤌🏻🤌🏻👏👏👏
ALSO I KNEW YOU WOULD LOVE DOOHOON (far right)
Also you mentioned you thought the Mingyu(3rd from left) might be classically trained and YOU'RE RIGHT , actually he and woorim(bass) both are
Doohoon and hyungho(2nd from left) aren't like thay but doohoon is a musical actor too, and hyungho's voice Is just plain unreal 😍
I also remembered hyungho did a performance of phantom of the opera which is also fabulous and really shows off his range 🤌🏻
This video was great 👏👏👏👏
Absolutely incredible performance!!!
Lol what an incredible heartfelt reaction!!!
To be more immersed in this song I recommend you reading the lyrics: Sometimes the way home takes so long
Sometimes I get so tired and exhausted
As soon as I open the door, I fall asleep
And when I wake up, no one is there
When I lay my body in the small bathtub,
A small snail comes to me and whispers in a soft voice
That someday when that day comes,
it will go to the ocean at the end of this harsh world
No one saw it but I will follow the sound of the waves in my memory
I want to go forever
Everyone is in their cars, going somewhere.
I am walking on the street with
a pack of cigarettes and a melting icecream bar
The sun is up high, shining on me
When a small snail comes to me
And greets me and sings for me quietly
That someday when that day comes,
it will go to the ocean at the end of this harsh world
No one saw it but I will follow the sound of the waves in my memory
I want to go forever
I gave up my everything
But now everything is fading away like smoke
With my remaining strengh, in my last dream,
I will cross the ocean so I will forget everything
That someday when that day comes,
it will go to the ocean at the end of this harsh world
No one saw it but I will follow the sound of the waves in my memory
I want to go forever
I also suggest their Snail(달팽이) which is a Korean song with so much emotions. :)
You became one of my favorite reactor~I like your explain way~
5:42 That stage was a survival audition, so it was a very emotionally burdensome stage for the singers.
@@푸른사자-t5c Foretrella's cover literally credits Serge Lama & opens with his story synopsis in the caption box. The song's lyrics is by Serge Lama.
I press subscribe and like.^^
I’m French and I’m so proud of my guys, their prononciation is just top notch compared to some other covers I’ve heard by Korean singers 🤌🏻
Simplemente maravillosoooo, sublimes, una interpretación magistral. ❤
As some others have recommended, you should check out the classically trained tenor of this group, Cho Mingyu, performing “Balada para un loco,” one of the most well known Argentinian compositions. Thanks!
You should also react to Lara Fabian singing this song this year...
At lease I know it's not just me :p
hey there, just to mention their french is very very good, for a non-native or fluent, such as myself. actually some french people have worse pronounciation 😅
they are just PERFECT!
that said, I love your reactions and how you explain things...
keep it up! 🙌
greentings from Costa Rica!💙🤍❤🤍💙
They r great and your reaction as well! By the way the video tittle is wrong.
There French is good as per my friend that is speaking French
italien de "A Whiter Shade of Pale"
I have seen many french vocal coachs react to that performance and they all said their prons were remarkable especially for 4 korean people who never spoke french before 😂 but its okay for you to think different youre not french and you listen to that song so many times so it might bother you when you didnt hear the exact words maybe idk 😂
the fourth man(bae doo hoon) is an actor! He is musical actor 🤗
Hello Brandon, this is not "Scarborough Fair", which is an english song (and which forestella's cover is wonderful too). it's "Je suis Malade", a french song. The title of your video is not good. But the reaction is nice. 🥰
And I'd like so much to see you reacting to Chenyu Hua, "Nunchuks" (ruclips.net/video/lLs-0A0yEuA/видео.html)... And Zhou Shen, "ring the doorbell" (ruclips.net/video/Ao1g_8vaNbc/видео.html)
the 2 ends are opera trained the right second is a stage performer/ singer the left second is a chemist who was a researcher and self taught singer - but all together and helped to polish each other - they are amazing - i found this info in a video some time back, hope the info is right
I like you
Awe, thanks 😊. That made me smile
Thank you.
That’s a lovely compliment and exactly what I hope for when I make these videos. Thank you for sharing.
Your favorite guy was in musical theater…hence the emotion.

They made a Korean version of this song: ruclips.net/video/6w8v6rMHAzI/видео.html
according to people from France it was good
Forestella is such an awesome group, and each member is so talented! I would like to see your opinion on member Cho Mingyu's "Balada de la Trompeta" performance
I'm with mikael. Their pronunciation is good. I'm a singer so some performers drive me nuts but this performance blows me away every time I hear it.
bae doohoons back ground is musical stage performance. Does theater. Great performer
I recommend Forestella Hije de la Luna ❤
Hello Brandon there is a very emotional duo from Beste Zangers they sing "Je suis Malade" (Belle and Karsu) #bestezangers #karsu #belleperez
OMG 😭😭😭😭😭
If that’s true and his pronunciation was already great then what evolution are you talking about? I thought you meant that he had gotten much betterbut in order to get better he would have had to be non great. But you’re saying he was already great so what evolution exactly are you asking me to see?
Serge Lama is the best for this song
If you go back in your reaction I believe you might agree with me that you mentioned their pronunciation of French excessively. If you can deal with dimash's early English and French this is a breeze. The man who wrote the song is French and he sent them a tweet of thanks and congratulations and he put it on his Facebook page
I don't understand why you keep pointing out that they have bad pronunciations ?? when native Frech people said that they sang the song very good in French and French people understand the lyrics then it doesn't matter.. and it shouldn't be matter. I think Forestella did a amazing job on this.
Please react to Tommy Johansson The leadguitarist in Sabaton He have his own youtubechannel with a lot of amacing cowers He is also the guy behind the music of a lot of Floors cowers His voice is amacing and the range is cracy He is an multiinstrumentalist and play all the instrument himself
Maybe you should start with his version of The phantom of the opera
or The power of love Celine Dion cower No it's not a joke
The Tenor did sing in classical Opera, the Soprano was a chemical engineer
The one on the far right majored in acting in college. His name is "Bae Doo-hoon".
Hi Brandon ! Got a new Lara being herself for you to watch , to show you how she got it all, she funny as hell 🤣 , love her to bit . Here is the link ruclips.net/video/F_y3lixzWro/видео.html ..... enjoy !
You won’t believe this….but check back in on my channel in about 7 minutes…..😆
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Their French is not bad when French is very difficult for Asians. Pleas react to their other songs .
Grazie... vogliamo ascoltate anche il Maestro Dimash?
Why is the video covered with fair use blocking the visual?
I like their voices and harmony. I still don't care for most opera music. Nothing against the artists, it's just the genre that leaves me wanting to change stations so to speak.
