    I think everyone who agree with Rashad on this is stupid. Gil is saying Heat Culture doesn’t attract free agents, Championship teams do. Lakers pulled Shaq without a star, LeBron and Bosh only went to Miami because they couldn’t go to NY and they had a chip guaranteed in Miami with Bosh. Outside of the opportunity for championships l, Miami can’t attract free agents. Bam was drafted, Herro was drafted, and Butler was traded. None of their current stars were free agent acquisitions, and no top free agents have gone to Miami in their drought years like a shaq to LA. They always needed a star trade to attract the free agents. Bringing up San Antonio and Detroit is a moot point because they aren’t know as Free Agent destinations and always built their teams thru the draft because they’re a SMALL MARKET team. LA, MIA, BOS, etc are LARGE MARKET TEAMS. I’m a start calling yall Gil haters. McCants was jaded by emotion from the beginning and couldn’t, at any point, name a free agent, not traded player, that went to Miami without a guaranteed championship opportunity

    There wasn't an issue until the new CBA's "Second Apron". The problem is, players want to pretend it's still 2022
    No offense, Miami stuck true to Bosh and paid him for FIVE YEARS, $450,000 every 2wks. I'm not blaming him for being ill, that's NOT his fault. However, 2020 contracts aren't available in 2025 due to the CBA that the players agreed to. Are you part of the players' union? If so, stick or leave

      @homiefromfl 8 дней назад +2

      No. Gil is trying to say that out of allll the NBA teams, Miami is one of the least appealing to free agents because they're too hard on their players. And his reason is that no one signs there unless it's a clear situation in which they're close to grabbing a ring, and are just a couple pieces away from that. Otherwise, it's a "FUCK NO" to Miami. But he forgets that free agents feel that way about ANY team that is close to winning a championship. Why did Beal go to Phoenix? Why did KD go to GS? Why did Kawhi accept going to the Toronto? Players will sign with a team that has the LEAST resistance to reach a ring, that's always been the case. Miami just isn't that at the moment. Aside from that, Pat Riley stated (after missing out on KD before he signed with GS) that he wasn't going to chase whales anymore. He was going to build team more organically, which he has done. Not to the ultimate success, but damn near close. And Pat NEEDS to make the Miami Heat a tough place to work at, because if he was lenient, do you know how HORRIBLY things would go for guys like GIl to live in Miami with all the distractions? Young guys, rooks? Nah, that whole Heat Culture thing is needed, and that's with it being not as stringent in recent years, just as UD has stated in his own podcast.

    Jimmy Butler's substantial $65,000 monthly child support commitment highlights his dedication to his family. Considering this significant financial responsibility, it's understandable that he'd carefully weigh any decisions that could impact his stability. This context sheds light on his reported disputes with Pat Riley and the Miami Heat organization regarding potential trades. It's clear that Butler prioritizes his role as a father, and any man who demonstrates such commitment, especially when relocation is a factor in fulfilling those responsibilities, deserves respect. This is particularly true in recent child support cases where establishing a stable environment is crucial.

    No free agents have come to Miami since Jimmy Butler has been there... That's why Jimmy has been shipped from team to team his whole career and no teams want to offer a good trade package for him today.

      @realamerican8069 you know this is cap? You think teams want Jimmy after this fiasco at the age of 36? He's demanding a long term extension and refusing to play. Miami doesn't have to smear him ... He's doing a good job at that on his own.

    Conveniently gill keeps leaving out the part where Miami never has cap space to sign a star.... in fact the last time Miami had calf space to actually sign a star they got the best free agent available that summer which was Kyle Lowry because Jimmy wanted him on the team... aside from that Miami Harley ever has cap space to just sign a Star Plus star players don't ever come on the market anymore they just signed extensions and then asked to get traded... but plenty of stars want to go to Miami it's just that Miami Heat never has assets to get the trades done

      While Lillard told Melissa Rohlin of Fox Sports that he now believes Milwaukee "is the best basketball situation for me," he also explained that his interest in the Heat was related to his relationship with Jimmy Butler.

    Rashaad is kinda right, because talk about Heat Culture really didn't start until sports journalists paid attention to the Heat after starting 11/31 in '15 to 41/41. They weren't in championship mode. They missed the playoffs but after that, Shaq, Wade, erc. chimes in about Heat Culture... THEN they got Jimmy.

    Which elite free agents have gone anywhere without a championship possibility??? Gil with the typical bullshit. LeBron was a free agent. Chris Bosh was a free agent. They were free agents! They were traded in sign and trade deals. We all know they were free agents! Wade had already been in Miami! Goodness Gil just runs these silly arguments.

      @ alright bro. Whatever you say. They were all free agents. It was a sign and trade dictated by their free agency. Everyone knows that. But you can keep loving Gil. He damn well knows how it went. Almost no elite player goes to a team with a 20-62 record. Or even a 35-47 record. LeBron went to the Lakers because he and AD were manipulating the system to get AD to LA. So Gil can keep his rhetoric.
