I think everyone who agree with Rashad on this is stupid. Gil is saying Heat Culture doesn’t attract free agents, Championship teams do. Lakers pulled Shaq without a star, LeBron and Bosh only went to Miami because they couldn’t go to NY and they had a chip guaranteed in Miami with Bosh. Outside of the opportunity for championships l, Miami can’t attract free agents. Bam was drafted, Herro was drafted, and Butler was traded. None of their current stars were free agent acquisitions, and no top free agents have gone to Miami in their drought years like a shaq to LA. They always needed a star trade to attract the free agents. Bringing up San Antonio and Detroit is a moot point because they aren’t know as Free Agent destinations and always built their teams thru the draft because they’re a SMALL MARKET team. LA, MIA, BOS, etc are LARGE MARKET TEAMS. I’m a start calling yall Gil haters. McCants was jaded by emotion from the beginning and couldn’t, at any point, name a free agent, not traded player, that went to Miami without a guaranteed championship opportunity
im with Rashad McCants! As a die ❤️ Heat fan the problem is our front office has overvalued/overpaid a bunch of role players Bam & Herro. The Heat didn't want to be over tax apron! Only reason why we couldn't afford true superstars such as KD, Dame, Klay etc
There wasn't an issue until the new CBA's "Second Apron". The problem is, players want to pretend it's still 2022 No offense, Miami stuck true to Bosh and paid him for FIVE YEARS, $450,000 every 2wks. I'm not blaming him for being ill, that's NOT his fault. However, 2020 contracts aren't available in 2025 due to the CBA that the players agreed to. Are you part of the players' union? If so, stick or leave
Gil is right! If LBJ doesn’t go to Miami, Mike Miller nor Ray Allen sign with the Heat. Dame wanted to go to Miami because of Jimmy and NOT because of the Heat culture 🙄 Yall basketball sense scares me

So when kd went to the warriors it wasn't cause he just wanted to play with steph klay and draymond??? Or was it to join a championship organization who just loss in a 3-1 come back to the cavs???? Because if it's the second one then yall are all wrong.... And the heat did sign other free agents after they built the heat culture and championship culture for that organization when they won their first ring ever with wade and Shaq in 06
Gil’s right. Very few notable players wanted to sign to Miami when they weren’t going for a championship. For example, Al Horford and Gordon Hayward signed to the Celtics not cuz they were gonna win a championship, but because they wanted to go to Boston and build something. Similar thing when LeBron signed with Cleveland the 2nd time, and when Kawhi signed to LA

McCants can't be this dumb. SMH. The basic point that Gil is making is, nobody wants to just move to Miami just to go to Miami. He is intentionally frustratingly dumb.
No. Gil is trying to say that out of allll the NBA teams, Miami is one of the least appealing to free agents because they're too hard on their players. And his reason is that no one signs there unless it's a clear situation in which they're close to grabbing a ring, and are just a couple pieces away from that. Otherwise, it's a "FUCK NO" to Miami. But he forgets that free agents feel that way about ANY team that is close to winning a championship. Why did Beal go to Phoenix? Why did KD go to GS? Why did Kawhi accept going to the Toronto? Players will sign with a team that has the LEAST resistance to reach a ring, that's always been the case. Miami just isn't that at the moment. Aside from that, Pat Riley stated (after missing out on KD before he signed with GS) that he wasn't going to chase whales anymore. He was going to build team more organically, which he has done. Not to the ultimate success, but damn near close. And Pat NEEDS to make the Miami Heat a tough place to work at, because if he was lenient, do you know how HORRIBLY things would go for guys like GIl to live in Miami with all the distractions? Young guys, rooks? Nah, that whole Heat Culture thing is needed, and that's with it being not as stringent in recent years, just as UD has stated in his own podcast.

Actually you are. This is a dirty media tactic. You take a sliver of the big picture and try to paint someone/something as being one way but when you look at things in totality the narrative is irrelevant. Nasty work
If you’re agreeing with Gil, you are clearly and embarrassingly showing your lack of knowledge and understanding of real life. It’s factual that Shaq and White Chocolate went there and helped them win a chip. It’s a fact that LBJ and Bosch and Allen went there as free agents and helped them win another 2 chips. It’s not rocket science, dummies; grow up 💯🤣
I’ve never heard anyone who said they were intelligent ask “what are you talking about” as much as mcCANTS. And I think he genuinely means it in the literal sense cause the basic conversations that go over his head or has to be re explained in a remedial way is too often for an adult
No one wanted to go to Lakers but LeBron and the rest came cause of him, No one wanted to go to Boston they drafted their stars, No wanted to go to knicks, or Bucks they drafted Giannis. Lets stop acting like any of these teams were prime time destination spots. Derozan even went to Kings instead of LA because they dead over there.
Agreeing with Rashad was not in my plans for 2025. D Wade already addressed "Heat Culture" in his podcast when he said that being on the Heat sucks but you'll miss the structure when you go to another team. Hearing them complain about working a little extra hard for the sake of winning is crazy to me. Gil who prides himself on his work ethic should praise the Heat and their culture.
Nobody has ever went to Miami just because NEVER..Bron went to win a title, Shaq said himself he went to win a title..Wade has also said himself he was the one to set the team up
The goal post has not been moved. The operative words are “Free Agent.” Gil is right star players rarely go to Miami unless they’re traded there. Free agents only went there to join a team on the verge of wining a championship not because they actually wanted to experience the Heat culture.
How can you say that?! They got free agents, Shaq and multiple players to help them win that chip; then they got LBJ, Bosch, Allen to another 2 chip! What you mean?! 😂 🤡
bro that was over 10 years ago. Why didn’t KD go there or Kyrie or Westbrook or AD or Klay or any superstar? Why didn’t D Wade leave? And don’t say because of money because like Gil said many players took a pay cut to play with LeBron. Why didn’t D Wade take a pay cut to stay also? Pat Riley makes it unappealing to play there bro. If Pat Riley left today every superstar would go play in south beach tomorrow. You mean to tell me even with no income b taxes the highest paid stars still don’t wanna go play there. Cmon bro Gil is right on this one.
The fact is that any free agent that sign to a specific team signs because they feel that they can win a championship with that team. So the argument of ppl only sign with the Heat to win is bs.
You contradicted yourself. You said the fact is free agents sign where they think they can win a ring. You then say Gil’s claim is BS, but you just co-signed it in the first sentence. Pick a lane.

Jimmy Butler's substantial $65,000 monthly child support commitment highlights his dedication to his family. Considering this significant financial responsibility, it's understandable that he'd carefully weigh any decisions that could impact his stability. This context sheds light on his reported disputes with Pat Riley and the Miami Heat organization regarding potential trades. It's clear that Butler prioritizes his role as a father, and any man who demonstrates such commitment, especially when relocation is a factor in fulfilling those responsibilities, deserves respect. This is particularly true in recent child support cases where establishing a stable environment is crucial.

Bro this is real simple. What player has ever gone somewhere that would mske their career worse? Players move for a chip. There's no other reason. Did lebron go to the lakers because its la? Or because its the most winning franchise. This is the dumbest argument ive ever heard and no one can counter correctly
Gil didn’t move the goal post. Mccants just will ignore facts when they don’t line up with his argument. No great free agents have signed with Miami since LeBron and them. It’s not a knock against Mccants but it it is true. Miami could have won a chip or at least come closer with Jimmy Butler but they have never added more real help.
Dame ,Irving wanted to go ,Miami didn’t push enough ,didn’t mean that those players didn’t want to go to Miami that’s the narrative
@ That’s where I feel the exact miscommunication is. Gil was only referring to free agents, not players that wanted to go there via trade. You are correct, Dame and Irving wanted to be traded there but they were not free agents that chose to sign there. Both Mccants and Gil had valid points if you look at it objectively.

While Lillard told Melissa Rohlin of Fox Sports that he now believes Milwaukee "is the best basketball situation for me," he also explained that his interest in the Heat was related to his relationship with Jimmy Butler.

Whatever the fuck you smoking @Ron44 keep it no way humans done became this delusional 😂😂
The only team that has signed big name free agents is the Clippers because that's where Kawhi is from... Stop the nonsense

McCants can't be this dumb. SMH. The basic point that Gil is making is, nobody wants to just move to Miami just to go to Miami. He is intentionally frustratingly dumb.
Ironically this isnt cyber bullying?

Free agents only went there to join a team on the verge of wining a championship not because they actually wanted to experience the Heat culture.

bro that was over 10 years ago. Teams that don’t have “championship hope” typically don’t get big free agents unless it’s a big pay day.
