Great to have you back and wishing you a full and speedy recovery. I love your channel. My brother used to work for Bristol Myers Squibb as a machinist making knees and hips out of titanium. Then he moved on and became a CNC machinist instructor traveling all over the US. These days he is semi-retired and has a shop near Weeki Wachee, Florida. He is also a gun collector and an amateur gunsmith of sorts. Thanks for another excellent video.
I have a Smith & Wesson 617--6, four-inch barrel, 10 round 22LR revolver. I love the thing and take it to the range at least once or twice a week. I love your videos. God bless you for sharing so much of your knowledge with us.
Glad the surgery went well for you, I've had both knees replaced as well! "CB caps" used to be "crumble ball", a round made for the old carnival shooing galleries of old, on the midway of carnivals and county fairs. They were supposed to break into dust on the steel plate backstops.
You are just the best! Thank you for all your ” plethora” of wisdom, knowledge and down right entertainment. Just so refreshing these days on the internet
My friend I’m glad to see you back thank god you had a successful surgery praying for you and a speedy recovery god bless you and your family my friend
I like mine, replaced the factory grip with houge grips. Not as handsome, but very comfy. My LCRs in 22 have smoother DA triggers but sometimes the false reset catches me. No issues with the SP101. Thanks for the video!
Glad your knee surgery went well. I use the Ruger SP101 series revolvers mostly in central Idaho. Ive taken a coyote once with one of those CCI CB short rounds within 50yds. Lots of small game 22lr and with 38spl.
Glad to see your video come up in my notifications! Always Love your videos and knowledge! Have a wonderful Easter with your family celebrating our Lord.
A great design. Had mine about a year after intoduced (in 38/357). Bit overbuilt for 22lr. A nice 22revolver is great fun. I have "old reliable" Hi Standard Sentinel, 6" barrel.
Very pleased to see you back making videos. Wishing you a full and speedy recovery from your knee replacement. I’m hoping to get another 10 years out of my original equipment…though our stairs are trying to stop me short of that goal. That SP101 of your daughter looks like a nice plinking option for my wife.
When i was a kid i bought .22 shorts at the gas station for 50 cents! I was maybe 10 years old at the time, how thing have changed. My dad bought gas and i bought ammo, the guys there knew me so everything was cool.
glad to hear you are doing well i hope this not to far off your videos path i just wanted to say thanks last week i finally took my remington 572 22lr apart and cleaned it after watching your video on how to from some years back i did it and your instructions was clear thank you and i add you to my prayer list for healing
Thought about getting one of these 9 or 10 years ago. Heard about some timing issues Ruger had with these. Ruger took a friends back and corrected it. I loved the feel of this revolver. Little bit lighter than my Smith Model 17, A little larger than my Smith Model 34. Great revolver though and may consider getting one someday. Thanks for the video.
Those stories were urban legends. I'm a factory trained Ruger armorer. I can tell you that there's no such thing as a Ruger timing issue, unless it's tampered with. The action is quite simple. The pawl rotates the cylinder when the hammer is cocked in either single action or double action, and it stops when latched. They are test fired at the factory with high pressure proof loads in double action, which also proofs the timing under fire. It either works for the tester or it gets sent back to the line. That's his job. No gun is stamped by him with a proof mark unless it's working perfectly.
My coworker had a hip replacement last year. Hour after he woke up from anesthesia the surgeon came into his room pulled his blanket off and said get up and walk. The sooner you start the better off you'll be. Crazy but thats how they do it these day. Being active is key.👍
They told you right. Had my new Mako Right Knee done last April, and after almost a year it’s feeling like my own. Had the Left Knee done last Monday, here we go again. But I know you will understand when I say walking without pain is nice!
Glad you are on the mend, nice to see someone who knows the value of the rimfire 22 as a round that is perfect to learn basic marksmanship and technics.
Wishing you the best from the left coast. I had my third robotic knee replacement surgery last month . My left knee worked well with moderate clunking - no pain after about 6 months. The right knee was done over a year later and it had much more clunking and the pain never went away. Eighteen months later they (a major university hospital) re-did the right knee and now I think it's gonna be a winner. I don't know which pieces they replaced but it works great, and after 6 weeks the pain is about 75% gone, with excellent range of motion and walking 4 to 5 thousand steps a day. When you have PT I advise that you take pain meds, if not then it will hurt when they stretch you and you will shy away from the needed stretching. I bought a Ruger LCR .22 and put the small laser on it. I like the idea of having a small defense weapon that can aim well in low light, better than my 70 year old eyes.
Great news on the operation. I have a friend who had both knees replaced at the same time. He had done all the exercises before the operation and then after it. Less than a year later he took part in the Coo-ee March (the first recruitment march at the beginning of WW1) re-enactment and marched from Gilgandra in the Central West of New South Wale, to Sydney New South Wales, Australia; about 350 to 400 miles. Take care and follow the advise of your doctors. Great to see you back. Blessings from Australia.
Your wealth of knowledge, amazes me to no end. I love your style of expression and your delivery of information... I have one of those SP101 22 revolvers which I love to shoot, especially after shooting larger calibers at the range🌴
You look great. After two total knees and one hip, all doing great, I continue to be like you and get around well in the outdoors. Keep up your wonderful work. I totally appreciate you. Give Murphy a big hug. Consider shooting accessories for a video….hearing protection, bench rests, always holsters of all kinds and more stories about Cu Chi, Trang Bang etc. Thank you sir for your Service.
The Ruger SP101 in .22 lr is a fine little revolver. I used to own one. It shot well but I dealt with a few things that I personally didn't like as much as other revolvers. The grip was a tad short for me. I have never liked the J frame size grips for that reason. The trigger pull was on the heavy side and the front sight was not as bright as other revolvers with fiber optic sights. I found that I have a preference for the K frame Smith and Wesson revolvers in .22 lr. Especially the model 17. Great video.
Take care my friend and follow the instructions of your PT…I’ve had a hip replacement (1989) and one rebuild (2015)…just don’t overdo it…keeping you and yours in my thoughts and prayers fora speedy and through recovery 🙏🙏🙏
Glad you had the surgery and pray for your recovery. I had my knee replaced last May. I still have some stiffness, but it is better than it used to be. Take care my friend.
Thanks for the vid sir! this explains the flaky results with my S&W K17 6in. revolver. I'm gonna start running subsonic ammo this summer. You are a gentleman. God bless!!
It's good to hear your surgery went well and you're on the mend. That SP101 looks like a great .22 revolver. I also love .22 Shorts, particularly out of a double-action revolver.
Great to see you again. I have a GP100, with the 5" barrel, 10 shot. It's really my favorite gun. Fun too shoot, and very handy for dealing with snakes and small varmints.
Welcome back to you ! Here in France, when I shoot 22 shorts, the other guys laugh at me. I think they’re very accurate even at 50 yards or meters . they are quiet and fun to shoot. We have the same problem with the price here I think we should keep on buying those to keep the manufacturer making them.
I know that I don't have to tell you to take the pain during therapy. It's the only way to get full range of motion back in the knee. It's a shame that this revolver is currently not in production. I've been on a waiting list for several months only to learn today that it's not currently in production. Hopefully it will come back soon. Left knee in 2017 Left shoulder 2012
Never thought of setting up a small range in the basement, even though I have a bullet trap that will handle .22lr. Only used it for air rifle. Glad to hear your knee surgery is working out. Have a relative that had a knee replacement about a month or maybe 6 weeks ago, and it is not going well with the recovery. Went all winter with no snow in our area, and they are predicting 12-15 inches tomorrow, so the itch that I have to get out shooting, is going to get pushed out another week or more. Have to get the Single Six out and see if I can match your target results.
Great to see you back, glad you’re on the mend ! Very nice Ruger handgun, I have the GP100 in 22, wonderful range gun, you are correct, very heavy which I like. I sure your getting a good deal of snow today, I’m live in MA, only about 2” here…
Glad your recovery and rehab are going well.I’ve got a Ruger Single Six convertible 22LR/22WMR the 5.5” barrel. I’d sure like to have the SP-101 too. I had my right hip replaced last 06/30/23. Now I’m scheduled to have the left one done in a few weeks. Arthritis is a bitch. I still can’t get down my steep basement stairs to get to my loading bench! I hope I’ll be able to at least go dove hunting this fall. I can do that sitting down. I’m lucky enough to have plenty of stock piled ammunition and young people that come out to my farm to hunt. They are my retrievers.😊
Hope you have a full and fast recovery. Glad it went well. Alwsys enjoy your videos. 22 revolvers are my favorite. I'm a s&w guy but respect rugers and enjoy all wheel guns that work reliably.
👍Nice! Good shootin! I so love RUGER. My new SP101 357 Wiley Clapp is pretty sweet too :-) So glad to see this fine gentleman up & at ‘em! He’s a true blessing for us all. God bless ya sir and a speedy recovery to you!
Congratulations on your successful knee replacement. I've had four knee surgeries, to include reconstructive surgery and two replacements. I have to disagree with you on the SP101 .22. Mine has gone out of time, jammed, had light strikes. It's been to a very good gunsmith several times. Springs have been replaced and internals polished. I should have paid the extra money for a Smith and Wesson. I also was at Fort Polk in 1968. Class E-2-1, as I recall.
Lot's of fun as always, worthy brother. I have a couple of boxes of CCI shorts. I was contemplating squirrel and dumplings but I can't shoot in the neighborhood so I'll have to hit my gal's family farm and work the trees.
Glad to hear you’re doing well! I just CAN’T believe GunBlues daughter would have a handgun much less loan it to you! LOL Great vid, go easy on the new knee - follow the Doc’s orders. You’re very valuable to those of us that follow you. Some may call us Fudd’s, but a bit of sanity in this crazy world of today is much needed. God bless!

Love the channel, glad you’re back. Remember Vit C, with bioflavonoids, and good collagen speeds the recovery.
So glad to hear everything went well and continues to go good.May God continue to bless you on a full recovery.

You, Sir, are one of the wrought Iron Age. No BS and always strictly on point. I’m confident that you will do well with your new knee.
Great news on your surgery...I will need the same sometime in the future. I like that SP101, my GP100 .22 is nice, but quite heavy for a .22

Had a sp101 6 shot years ago, sorry I sold it. And love to find the sp101 8 shot😢
I'm sure you'll be fine. I had both done and I have a glider rocker chair and I would sit in it and move my knee without weight on it. Worked great.
Great show and I hope you have a great recovery from surgery.

You're going to enjoy your new knee it's absolutely amazing
Welcome back and heal well ❤
