    I am amazed at how well you do fishing from shore in lake Tahoe being such a big lake . I have been in the lake on a sailboat , kayak and hung out at the beach and never seen anybody catch anything . I will have to give it a try someday when I am back in the area .

      Personally, I fished all around the Lake for decades but never in the Lake itself until my first clip I put up. I figured fishing from shore in the giant lake wouldn't be productive. Why I assumed that I don't know. I first fished it about a year ago and I've hit nice fish almost every time since. I have more content for Lake Tahoe and other Lakes and streams in the area you can hike or drive to across my channel playlists if you haven't discovered it yet and are interested. Armani out here catching baby sharks in Tahoe!!! Damn I always see some nice fish close to shore as well, I wonder if you’d have luck casting shorter. Maybe send one line out to the depths and put one closer to shore where those big group of minnows hangout

    • @wildernesswithamani1027
      @wildernesswithamani1027  3 года назад +1

      I wanted to try in closer but the snag situation looked horrible. This spot was nice because there seemed to be a large patch of sand out there which made for a stable bottom for a change! Those trout were definitely cruising in and out of the rocks along the shore. Maybe have one rod or fly rod ready and only have one bait out. I've been considering different options since seeing those fish close to shore!

    Oh man that was a really nice trout!! I caught one about the same size at Jackson Meadows fishing from shore by the dam. (also on a nightcrawler-inflated) I use a longer pole than what you use, mine is a lightweight 8'6" steelhead rod. And I use a 35 year old Daiwa reel that I bought from Montgomery Wards from back in the day when they carried fishing equipment. Having the longer pole is a real advantage when casting and when fighting a large trout like the one you caught and it allows me to be able to use light line from 4-6lb test. Watching you play that trout brought back memories.
    Love your videos. I notice you carry your ice chest on most of your journeys. Seems cumbersome to carry to locations that you go too. Have you thought about going with a pack pack ice chest and a fishing Storage belt for your tackle?? Seems to me it would free you up for more movement and not so cumbersome. Where to next? Tight lines.

    • @wildernesswithamani1027
      @wildernesswithamani1027  3 года назад

      I usually have my pack loaded to the brim with other crap. I carry the ice chest to keep my worms really fresh during the warmer months and to pack me fish on ice as soon as I catch them. A longer rod would certainly be a heck of a lot easier in those conditions but I do ok with my light 5' rods. I'm able to improvise as needed to get those fish in. That water near the dam at Jackson Meadows is nice and deep. I might hit that spot as right before the snow falls.

    • @wildernesswithamani1027
      @wildernesswithamani1027  3 года назад

      Yeah, the trail is steep like Chimney Beach but it's shorter and there are way fewer people. I don't know if there is any beach access down there because I simply got to the bottom of the trail and went straight down to fish. Those rocks I showed towards the end of the clip that were not as steep looked promising. That area is definitely worth exploring and the path above the rocks that runs along the lake is wide and easy. Last time I was there. it was stormy out so this morning was a pleasure.

That Logan Shoals area is nice. There was a big tree right above me so I had shade on me until almost 10am. Sun was on the water though. Way less people there and the hike is easier. Don't get me wrong, you are hiking up and down a trail just as steep as Chimney Beach but it's a lot shorter. The Trail is where the benches and rail are past the bathroom. Hi Amani, Where would you recommend I take my kids fishing in North Lake Tahoe? Looking for someplace where it isn't too hard to walk as my kids are little but really enjoy fishing.

    • @wildernesswithamani1027
      @wildernesswithamani1027  3 года назад

      If your kids are young, Lake Tahoe could be tough. A lot of difficult landscapes to cover. The easy beach I fish off of the 89 is probably crawling with people this time of year. Cave rock state park isn't too difficult but your kids would still have to deal with large boulders so I'm not sure about that either. I have a couple of clips for Cave Rock on my Lakes and Reservoirs playlist that will show you what the terrain looks like. It's a little bit of a drive but the public boat ramp area at Donner Lake has some easy spots to fish from and they also have those public docks that I believe are first come, first serve. Good luck.

    • @wildernesswithamani1027
      @wildernesswithamani1027  2 года назад +1

      In Lake Tahoe where the bottom is huge boulders and the depths vary wildly I will move my stuff every half hour to 45 minutes. This is to make sure my bait isn't concealed by obstructions for long periods. If the bottom is a fairly consistent depth I leave it out for an hour or a little more. I always want to check to make sure I'm not in a snag or something like a crawdad has gotten my stuff. I also like to check every hour or so to make sure my worm is floating. If I already have solid fish in the cooler, I probably could leave my stuff out there for over 2 hours! Powerbait and well inflated crawlers can last for a long time!

If you are going to do anything out on the water like kayaking or paddle boarding, early morning is the safest bet. The wakes from boats are increasing too as Summer gets under way. That open space over the water is huge so once that wind starts howling, look out. Personally, I would be more concerned with the 4th of July traffic than the winds. The people should be plenty of people! good luck and stay safe out there.

      I usually use inflated crawlers and the original orange/yellow/green powerbait. Sometimes I get the extra scent stuff. I think I show a close up of it in my "line stripping rainbows from the Lake Tahoe shoreline" clip.

    I was in Lake Tahoe last week and caught two on a Rapala top water lure. They weren't too far off shore and the water wasn't too deep, so I'm wondering why you don't try that at all. I did lose one to the rocks, but caught the second one, after some drama. My net was too small. Check it out here if you want: ruclips.net/video/SCn1Y602dFM/видео.html. I was in Meek's Bay, by the campground.

      I have thrown countdown and floating rapalas but it's so much easier to kick back and simply watch my poles. I typically fish all artificial stuff when I'm fishing alpine lakes, rivers, and streams.

      Those big rainbows out of Tahoe always have dark reddish pink meat. Holds the color and looks like salmon when it's cook. They taste fantastic.

      @@limitlessap3265 The only few ways I cook fish I have clips for up on my variety playlist. The seasoning might change but those 3 clips cover it. Baking, frying, grilling on a campfire is pretty much all I ever do. I'm no chef. If I got a recipe from somewhere else it wouldn't be me. Everything on my channel is stuff I figured out myself over the decades. Believe it or not, I don't watch much video or read much on the outdoors and fishing. I've just always gone a lot! Besides my channel, You tube to me is 80's music and fixing minor things on my car! Thanks for tuning in.

      I use 8lb mono on my reels with a 6lb mono leader. It seems to do good enough with he boulders. Reeling in fast to check your stuff and holding my 5' Ugly Sticks over my head to keep the larger fish out of those rocks is a must though! I didn't lose any tackle out there today which was nice.

      That Logan Shoals Vista Point is like a "Chimney Beach lite"! No actual beach that I saw though! You're strictly maneuvering around on rocks which is what I do in the Chimney Beach area anyway so it's all the same to me. Trail is just as steep but much shorter.

    Please, Amani, stop giving out exact locations. For the sake of all things sacred with fishing, please stop. Just say “lake tahoe.” Last time I pleaded with you regarding this you stated you keep it vague and don’t give specifics. This is not vague, nor are most of the other videos. You also stated that all this info is already out there so you don’t see the harm. I assure you this type of content will surely cause overcrowding and environmental harm. What is the endgame? More subscribers? RUclips income? To be guide? All I kindly ask is that you respect fishing traditions, and respect the future of the lake and its surrounding areas. I sincerely say all of this out of genuine care. Please do not turn a blind eye to this. Every ethical decision from every person counts, no matter how inconsequential their actions may feel. All of our natural lands need stewardship, now more than ever. Thank you.

      I try to be a good role model and spread spots out across my channel playlists. I give general conditions to look for and a lot of spots to spread things out. So, if I Just say Lake Tahoe that's better? Why is that? Cars line the roads bumper to bumper when I'm leaving, people everywhere, and I have yet to see anyone fishing outside of Cave Rock State Park. I have fished from shore over a wide area and I'm just not seeing what you are describing. You make a lot of assumptions that I am not seeing pan out when I go to places across the mountains again that I've had content up for a long time. If people are searching up a place like Lake Tahoe to fish and don't fish much, I'd rather them see a guy like me who let's a lot of fish go and picks up trash. I guess eventually I'm going to have someone confront me and try to stop me from fishing somewhere and that will be a rough and unfortunate day. Thanks for keeping your concerns in your comment clean. I run a family friendly channel so that is key to making sure your viewpoint is heard.

      I was reading about it the night before and I was getting mixed messages about locked gates and 5 miles of 4X4 rough roads. My 4X4 is good in the snow but the clearance is low and horrible so I wasn't sure. I'm going to have to look into it further when I have more time.
