If they go out of business which let's face it who's to say they'll be around in 5-10 years then everyone who bought one would be shit out of luck since you won't be able to continue using the subscription...
This is an ambitious board. I'm curious what their roadmap looks like & how long they plan to support it. I like it, but I can tell it's out of my price range.
Holy crap.....I'm 10 minutes in and I can see why this is an hour video. I'm sure this guy has great information, but he rambles without direction just wandering between random observations and then circling back again and again. Scripts are going to be your best friend, dude.
Really cool product. I recently purchased the 15.7 inch Millennium Mephisto Phoenix, and I absolutely love it. So beautiful. If something inspires you to play, and train more, then it's all the worth it. Like how there are more options at differing price points.
Oooo I am excited. I suck a chess but I love chess boards. I saw a glimpse of this on a video a few months back. I am a big fan of Chessnut tbh. The air is the best board for the price and is honestly just a great board all together. The pro is just a bigger air and does feel great. Got my chess up board a few days ago. It’s nice. Haven’t played with it too much. It does seem like a good trainer board.
Fascinating innovation. It's expensive, though. I guess it would be a great idea if the android tablet interface could be sold as a standalone app for those of us with other chessnut products. That would really be the icing on the cake.
Definetly loving this, just sad there is no notation! Wish they could implement the notation digitally and have it switch by itself when you switch sides
One question the screen is enough big but i have some eye problems too read small caractères. May i connect a galaxy tab s9 ultra too ? In case off? Or for me the Best option is too buy the model without the screen thanks in advance for your precious help
Small video suggestion to bring that aperture down a few stops on shots like the 8 min mark so the whole thing is in focus and not just part of the screen
I like everything I see except for the non-weighted plastic pieces. and the small size of the squares. Please give me a 2.25 square, heavy wooden pieces version. Also question... can you have an option for two player where lets say white when touching a piece the board shows all the available (and best) move options, but player BLACK gets no help to show available moves?
Does it seem slow to play an online match? It seems that there is a little lag between when you make a move and when it gets transmitted online, right?
Curious what the specs are on the computer driving that LCD. If you we know the CPU, RAM & Android version, we can compare it to a phone with similar specs.
so if you play online you have to move both your own and the opponent's pieces right? what happens if you mess up and the position on the board doesn't match the data online? also seems like the online players would have a massive advantage on time :/. good looking board though
I ordered it through your link. If you use newevo as a discount, they cut the price to $509. Anyway, can the engine training app allow you to load, say Rubinstein games, and play against that engine?
Guys, i need help. I wanna get a chessboard for myself that can move pieces on its own (robotic arms) but i am not sure if it has many levels of strength. I wanna be able to simulate a play with real person kind of feel, ya know, since the missus aint interested in the game. But i see so many other computer chess boards!
Really surprised that hasn't been done yet. LCDs are cheap enough. It would need the touch screen sensor so it can track the pieces. I think the challenge is the software interface from the touch screen inputs into the chess app.
Piece identification would be challenging, I think. You could do it without that feature. If someone produces that, I would ideally want it to be eink.
We are delighted to finally announce the highly anticipated price of the Chessnut Evo, which starts at just USD $459 for our limited super early bird offer, 43% OFF with the $799 MSRP!
I dont know if anyone has told you, but your referral link in the description is missing a slash, So there is no use being made of it. I'm not sure if there is some incentive on your end for people clicking that, but I thought I'd let you know.
I am currently deciding between the DGT Centaur, ChessUp and even the Gochess 4XR. I am looking for a digital board that will be used foremost for practice. The ChessUp is currently on top of my list because of all the training features that’s inbuilt in it. I like the DGT Centaur as well, but I’m very intrigued by the chessnut evo.
The Chestnut EVO looks like the overall best. But there are no straight forward way to order one. Amazon does not display the exact title; at $700, who will buy one, not knowing exactly what one is buying! Nor is the Chestnut company being straight 51:08 forward.
The choice of Android ... There really is no other choice except a base Linux system (Android is Linux + Google, just like iOS is BSD + Apple). The Android OS is far more open and inviting to developers and third parties and using it eliminates the headache of having to reinvent the wheel. Plus it allows for embedding Android applications like perhaps Whitepawn, etc. instead of developing special layers. I.e. if you are going to merge the phone and the board, Android is the correct way to do that.
Yeah, and what is that thing going to cost? $1,000... $1,200... $1,500? I received my ChessUp today and my phone is an Android phone and I haven't seen any of the "lag" that you mentioned. I only played 3 games against the computer so far and I never had a problem with the bluetooth unpairing my phone from the board. It seems like they threw in the "kitchen sink" when they made this board and it has a whole bunch of features that nobody is ever going to use and that's how they're going to defend the price tag on this thing. How much is a Chessnut Air? How much is a Chessnut Air Pro? Or whatever it's called? $700.00 to $900.00? Now they're attaching a TABLET to the board. When the price of this thing comes out make sure you're sitting in a recliner or a sofa because otherwise you're going to fall out of your chair. They're going to ask for a pretty penny for this board.
459 on kickstarter is really hight but imo worth tbe price. As somone who also has the chessup board all i have to say is the app is basically useless. Its buggy and they are really slow at getting updates out. They just added the ability to play friends and only on lichess like a month ago. They ghosted the community for months while they were providing valid complaints. The chessup board still doesnt have all the features promised on the kickstarter almost a year and a half ago. The biggest reason to buy a chessnut board is the app. They have the best app with the least bugs. The app makes or breaks a connected board.
you expecting it to Jumanji the pieces when you tap the screen? what's the point in that? it's nicer to move them physically and it inputs to an online game with the opponent miles away
I feel that most if not all these "smart" boards are critically flawed in the longevity and future proof department. Something that is an instant turnoff for me considering they are frigging expensive. They are usually app/phone dependent making them at the mercy of both the phone and board developers who might cut support when ever they please or the board runs of a subscription to a service that might disappear over night. All these things turn the smart Board into an overpriced plastic dead board. There needs to be onboard logic's, HID and preferably onboard wifi for me to even consider it. An app can be used as a supplement but a board should never EVER be designed with a mandatory app for basic functionality.
Lots of bots comments here. Ps. This board is stupid. A giant screen and a supposedly chess AI? All to be outdated within a year of release. And the board is way too small to begin with.
If you like tradition, you will hate this too small board with too larges pieces, and plastic pieces with that. If you prefer modern innovative devices, you will hate this not-moving-its-pieces thing.

Yes. F that trend.
I just got my Chessnut Air, but man there are so many boards out there i want to try and get, and this one certainly looks neat too!
Same here. I also have the Chessnut Air, but I want this screen.
FANTASTIC walk-through definitely sold me. I was stuck between this or gochess, but this is making me think chessnut
same Im trying to decide rn, did you buy it ? and how is it?

I just love that built-in screen, so much better than to pair it to a phone.
Nice all-in-one video!
Thanks for the thorough video. I have the Chessnut Air already and love that, but the Evo looks amazing
Very (very) good demonstration of the product. Thank you for doing this 👍

Can this also be used as a fritz interface? Like the chessnut air or pro can.
Seems like a great product for serious chess hobbyist.
Curious how well the Chessnut stockfish at max would fare against the DGT Centaur on expert if you put em head to head.
Please please how can i get this board
Thank you for taking the time of demoing all capabilities.
What is the battery life of the EVO? Did you have to charge it often?
Any news about my previous question? In addition the Software and voice are only in englisch ? Regards from switzerland french part
I'd like to play a 2 player hot-seat game with my friend and then let the game analyze it or make the review. Any idea how I can achieve that?

So when you put it on your lap. where do you put the captured pieces? On the couch, in your pocket. or?
When you are not sure whether someone is telling you the price of a chess set or their Elo rating, that chess set is too expensive.
It seems to be priced just about right.
Computer chess has come a long way since "Boris" was let loose on the public in the late 70s.
