  • (◡‿◡✿) what's this? a lab vlog?
    Today I'm showing you a lil slice of what I've been working on as a neuroscience research lab technician! This is my first 9-5, and while I'm still adjusting, I'm gradually settling into the flow of doing research and experiments.
    I also want to say that I'M SO SORRY ABOUT THE STATE OF MY NAIL POLISH! What a disaster, I meant to clean that up before this vlog.

    As someone that enjoys climbing and is also currently working as a tech in a Drosophila neuro lab in between undergrad and grad school, discovering your channel has me ridiculously excited! And I totally relate to losing an entire morning's worth of dissections 🙃

    !!!! I just started as a lab tech at the research lab I worked in as an undegrad. We also work on fruit flies and I got sooo excited when I saw the vials with the different colored tape in your video. I loved to see you doing brain dissections too. This was two years ago so I hope COVID didn’t halt your research too much. Are you still working there? If so I would love to see an update!

  • @jondavies9909
    @jondavies9909 5 лет назад +10

    Yes but why were you dissecting the flies? Some context would help I think

    • @tommyslamp9227
      @tommyslamp9227 4 года назад +5

      this type of flies is commonly used in experiments, since their DNA mutates a lot and they spread fast.

    • @JenniferLangen
      @JenniferLangen  5 лет назад +3

      hahaha we're technically physiology and neuroscience! i'm kind of a future expert on all things synaptic remodeling/plasticity as well as synaptic vesicle endocytosis. since i work with flies there is a bunch of mobio and genetics in the methods though :-)

    • @lawrencetchen
      @lawrencetchen 5 лет назад +1

      Very exciting! I always imagine there's imaging with fluorescent molecular markers of every wavelength of the visible spectrum to create those pretty pictures for publication! Y'all's work is the foundation for advancements in clinical care on our side of the work 🤜🏼🤛🏽

    • @JenniferLangen
      @JenniferLangen  5 лет назад +4

      Lawrence Chen hahaha at least when we get good data!! which isn’t often in the world of ~research~. but yeah, i’m doing fluorescent imaging and confocal microscopy almost on the daily! can’t wait to be a grad student and have this be my life for 5 years straight without holidays and weekends 🥰😍

      @@JenniferLangen Sometimes I really miss the slow, steady pace of basic science research, but I love working with people too much to not do something clinical 👨🏻‍⚕️ Lots of respect for what you do 👩🏻‍🔬

    Omg I were looking up my ancestory
    and it says some people were born a different race overtime
    it also says that the homosapiens were real
    and that they covered up there ancestory over time , i were also told there were a ancestory called starseed among us .
    I wanted to tag everyone on seeing if we can find everyones ancestory
    and if we can identify them as who they are today
    I already saw a few people who looked as if they were homosapien in this life
    what are the other species of people
    who's who weres everyone now let's all go find out .
