If you are using FL Studio ASIO as your output device, the 'hard-clip at 0 db ' is enabled by default in the ASIO panel... this would explain the differences in distortion. This is most likely what's happening. I didn't hear this mentioned at all in the comments surprisingly. Maybe look out for that and retest. Peace

I've done the test myself within the last few hours. In my experience, it isn't just an ASIO problem. if you clip your master fader past 0dB in FL 11 & FL 24, with the audio device in both versions set to your primary sound driver instead of FL Studio ASIO, you will still see & hear a noticeable difference in distortion when null testing. the audio should not change as much as it does between versions

So what I understand from this video is: what Image Line, DECAP, & others have said about FL Studio's sound not changing, is strictly based off of the sound quality BELOW the 0dB. I don't think they've ever tried doing null tests past the clipping point for each version of FLS, since they think everyone wants to avoid pushing audio past 0dB

@@VanceSwango correct! Most people who do use FL Studios, doing it the wrong way are clipping the beats and that’s how most of us are getting the sound that we’re looking for by just going past Zero with the 808 . I already knew there was a massive difference. I remember back in 2017 I remade XO TOUR LIIF3 on FL 11. Fast forward to last year, I cleaned up the mix in FL 21…sounds completely different. Not just because of the different circumstances from then till now, but sonically you can hear a difference. FL 11 has more punch than FL 12-24. Honestly, FL 10-11 is honestly the only reason I’d go back to Windows

I see now why youre saying it sound different. You were talking about purposely clipping (going over 0db) that gave you the different sound results (I didnt do this exact test when I did it but I might try it later today to see if I get the same results as you did).
But your audio settings are different just like I thought 6:49. Theyre not matched exactly the same like I was trying to point out in your other vid, everything has to match. Also check every audio setting like hardclip output at 0db and circular panning law, make sure the circular panning law is not unchecked.
Edit: I just remembered something too that might be the cause of the clipping distortions sounding different, but not exactly sure yet until I try the test myself. But in 21.2.2 and above versions they messed up the sound levels and I told them about this and they know about it now but still havent fixed it (I havent downloaded the very latest version yet but on FL 2024.1 its still broken). Ever since updating to 21.2.2 I instantly noticed the volume levels were broken on some of my 808s when I was previewing my 808s from my drum kit from the browser. I leveled all my 808s (and kicks) in my drum kit to the same level thats way passed 0db and noticed in 21.2.2 that some of them were showing incorrect levels when I know what level they were suppose to be showing. It has to do with sample rates. I forgot exactly how the error occurs but its on the FL forum where I told them about it even with video proof and samples. Its something like if the FL audio sample rate is set to a different sample rate than an 808 (sample) then it will give incorrect readings.

    Hi,
I am not saying that you are wrong, but I do question the testing methodology that you are practicing.
I think that you need to remove as many variables as possible and I encourage you to do this simplified test.
    1. In FL 10, make a single 808 drum track. Nothing but the 808.
    2. Dont have any plugins on any channels. Hear me? zero plugins!
    3. Dont make any tonal adjustments like boosting EQ on any channels. Keep it flat.
    4. Set your master or channel volumes to the point where you think it pushes hard enough to make a clear difference when exported from the different FL versions.
    5. Save this FL 10 project.
    6. For each FL version. Open the project, dont change a thing in the project but do ensure that you export to wave with the exact same settings.
    7. Redo the null tests with the different exported waves.
Get back in the chat and let us know the results. ☺
    Thanks

Bro there is actually no way you're getting any harmonic distortion from FL itself past 0db. That'd be just nasty digital distortion unless it's 32 bit float.
Do a test with no plugins or at least make sure every single plugin is the exact same build, version, etc. Could be a difference caused by a legacy plugin that's processing the sound differently.
Could be a hard limiter in the asio driver (though it probably wouldn't affect the render). Could be that you're not exporting both at 32 bit float (though there's an audible difference in real-time playback in the DAW so probably not that). Could be something with levels and the sessions not being exactly the same.
Why don't you make a simpler test beat with only stock sounds and plugins, do everything else the way you normally do with levels and processing, and share the FLP with everyone so we can test it on our own?
I'm simply not buying it the daw itself sounds different, that's ridiculous. There are no analog components in the daw or any extra dsp to color the sound when you push it harder. Doesn't make any sense. It's 1s and 0s with all software, plain and simple. I thought this debate was already dead.

    • @30killabeatz
      @30killabeatz  2 месяца назад

@MIHAO first off fl studio didn’t do a video without plugins. Why don’t y’all make Image line do another video without plug-ins I used fl studio just like I do with any other beat. Plus I used less plugins in their video. Nothing I can do to get you to believe me. You don’t wanna believe. You didn’t even watch the video. If you did you would have found out it can’t be the hard limiter because I showed what my interface settings are. Just try it out yourself. Don’t believe what a company tells you.
