This is going to be a great discovery to watch unfold if they excavate.

Another educating and entertaining video, thanks Christopher. I've just spent 5 days in Tromso where it was nice and cold and I managed to see the lights as well. Hopefully I'll get to go back but I need to save up a lot of money first :-)

I've been following this find in the news, it's super exciting and I hope they get to excavate most of it. I talked to someone who had been there and looked at the excavation of the ship and they said it was amazing! (not jealous at all...) so I hope the preservation process goes smoothly and the finds can be presented to the public soon.
These videos are great Christopher, keep em coming.

Thanks! Yeah, I'm hoping to do a on location video from this project next year. It's not to far from my place.

Great video! Excellent information. I would love to see more artifacts unearthed that help humanize and sympathize the viking mythology. As you say, many of the more notable people from that era have been deemed as the bad guy.

Thanks Doomfruit! It's the victors who write history, and even though King Olav fell in Stiklestad his movement would become victorious. Thorir Hund was fighting to keep Norway pagan, like many others. He's a hero in his own right. I'll make a video about him at some point!

Correction: The world's biggest longhouse in Lofoten was not 87 meters, but 83 meters (272 ft). Still huge, though!
