Haulover Inlet in Florida is a popular spot for experienced boaters seeking a thrill. Known for its challenging conditions and strong currents, the inlet connects the Atlantic Ocean to the Intracoastal Waterway and is famous for its rough waves and strong winds, which can make boating hazardous. Despite the risks, many boaters are drawn to the inlet's challenging conditions and the opportunity to navigate through it.

Oh Boat Zone off topic a bit and I know it's a rare occasion, more of those Nor Tech Cat's and more of those twin 600's please, that RAFNAR was definitely looking for some camera time and well deserved, it cornered like it was on rails, props to the camera crew. Pontoon boats beware the Ocean does not care about your feelings, navigate at your own risk.

RAFNAR is an interesting hull design. VERY interesting and it is called the ÖK HULL Doing a full power turn in the middle of Haulover demonstrates how good it is. In the words of Sigurður Ásgrímsson“…I have sailed many different types of boats, such as Zodiak, Avon, Springer, Aron and Parker. When it comes to seakeeping, comparing those boats to Rafnar 1100 is like comparing apples to oranges.”

AS it relates to Rafnar the maneuver they are doing within a tight channel at their rate of speed puts every boater in the channel at risk. One mistake and someone will get hurt...I have never seen such a disregard for boater safety. As a boater you have to be aware of all your surroundings at all times. Many boaters on open water have changed course unexpectedly only to hit another boat. What Rafnar is doing is no more than showing off....the question is what for? So keep it up Rafnar....you will make the News someday, but not in the way you think. Sorry to be so negative, but too many people are hurt by clowns. In the United States, 658 people died as a result of boating accidents and 2,641 people were injured in 2021.

When our fabulous US friends talk about a boat riding in "X" feet of waves... Rafnar talk about the same number, but in metres.
A flat calm day for our friends in Rafnar who looked to be having an awful lot of fun on what was clearly an organised sea trial day demonstrating the hull.
Knowing the captain's of these boats well, they will not have been making these manoeuvres if the channel had been busy and will have waited for space and safety to demonstrate the boat's capability.
    Shame it wasn't rough...
    Rafnar in my blood!

Just asking. Are there eye accidnts wit the speed some of these boats leave and enter what is really a canal entrance? You get speed boats, slow moving boats with families and jet skis all whizzing along. It just looks like an accident waiting to happen. And from a personal point of view. These speed boats, especially the big ones, once you've zoomed out past the crowds, then what? I went on once and it was quite exciting for the first 10 minutes, after that it was just noise and uncomfortable. Bouncing around and not being able to hear the person next to you, unless you shout doesn't really appeal. It would be a boring old world if we all like the same thing though! 😉🙂
