I'm second year dental student and now preparing for my final exam but I don't know clearly about mesial drift and spaces . This video helped me a lot . Thank you sir
I Loved the way you made the lecture interesting..I wish we had a teacher like you.... everything is perfect the diagrams and slides... when I read the book it was so easy for me..... please keep making videos sir because orthodontics is very complex subject
Multiple reasons for mesial drifting tendency. 1. All Teeth are inclined mesially so occlusal forces have vector in mesial direction 2. Since mandibular plane is downward mesially, Gravity also pulls teeth mesially 3. Leeway space is just mesial to molar so it drifts
Many reasons are there. There's usually severe skeletal problems in anterioposteror as well transverse plane. Means class 3 tendency and sk cross bites too. Secondly lateral incisors are usually missing or malformed Thirdly sequence of eruption is not normal too usually So better option is to expand rather than extract. Bone grafting and bringing teeth into arch. Orthognathic surgery is required afterwards
@@irfansinstituteofclinicalortho @irfan's institute of clinical orthodontics iioco Thank you so much doctor. ❤ Can we do serial extraction on treated cleft palate patient..(already treated at the age of 10 months as per rule of 10)
Depends on case keeping all factors in mind and evaluate cost benefit analysis. In lower chances are more that you get some benefit but in Upper arch is not usually suitable
sir i m confuse in lingual and buccal posterior crossbite, i have search a lot ,but still i m confuse, so please sir, guide me with correct definitions and one q more sir what is scissor bite or Brodie bite?
Well Riaz, there are few things/ definition on which there's still not consensus. Posterior Cross bite is one of them. What i teach to my students is in reference to maxilla. When maxillary teeth are lingual to mandibular counterparts it's lingual cross bite and vice versa When there's complete cross like scissor in single tooth (palatal surface of upper in contact with buccal surface of lower posterior or vice versa) its scissor bite bcz of scissors hands like closure. When several or all posterior teeth are in scissors bite then it's brodies bite
Perfect video🌹 but allow me to correct something, there is nothing in our life related to nature or ( luck ). It is your and my god ( Allah ) you created you,me, universe, nature and systemise every single atom within it

Doctor, Why serial extraction C/I in cleft palate ñ lip?
Treated one or non treated cleft lip /palate.
Kindly elaborate your query. Thanks
Doctor.. Why serial extraction is contra indicated in cleft lip ñ cleft palate patient?
Many reasons are there.
There's usually severe skeletal problems in anterioposteror as well transverse plane. Means class 3 tendency and sk cross bites too.
Secondly lateral incisors are usually missing or malformed
Thirdly sequence of eruption is not normal too usually

There’s an error- distal step prevalence is 10% not 14%. Mesial step prevalence is 14%. Please double check and correct the error.
Depends on references and varies in different population.
