@@trueamerican541 sorry for asking this But I just passed yesterday because the guys at the barbershop were discussing about firefighting which then made me go for the coat exam a week later. Can I ask what’s next? Lol I will the same people call me to go to the fire academy? I’ve tried googling and I can’t seem to get the answer to what do I do next.
@chilout2496 it depends on if you are trying to become a career Firefighter or starting out as a volunteer. If you are looking to volunteer you can contact a local fire department with a volunteer program. They will put you through an academy. If you are wanting to start out as a career Firefighter and don't have a fire science degree you might want to look into colleges with a structural fire science program.
That helmet is not doing him any favors 🤣. I did my CPAT two weeks ago without any practice and got 8:10, I’m impressed but didn’t know there was a competition for doing more than pass or fail.
@@Cpth-t2m. Ladder control was pretty marginal as well as ceiling breach pike pole placement issues. Also you know the FE setting is too low when a candidate does it in 2-3 hits. No untrained person can do that on the proper setting; I don’t care how much “talent” you have. It’s just proof that the setting wasn’t right. (And Yes, I believe that a trained professional athlete - maybe a baseball player or one of those Stihl Timbersports guys - might be able to get down to 4, or even 3, hits on the FE. But not a 19-year-old. Sorry.)
@jameshegeman5660 or get a kid who has good hand eye coordination, and it can be done. The same kid that wins prizes at carnivals with the hammer game lol
No, it's not easy because they have to wear a 50 pound vest, and wear an extra 25 pounds on the step master. The extra weight is what makes all the difference.
Great technique and respectable time. I have done the CPAT 7 times and this is about my best time.
Why so many times
@chilout2496 the results are valid for one year.

@@trueamerican541 ok im going to look into that. I thought that the place I took my coat test was the academy lol
He doing good on his firefighter test
I was sucking wind when I was done with the CPAT.
I did mine yesterday and I was smelling blood out of my throat
Same, the stairs was the worst part.

Me too dude mine yesterday with no practice and haven’t been to the gym in probably 2 years now 😂😂. I passed but my goodness
A few violations and the FE setting was probably too low… but pretty good.
Exactly which violations are you referring to? Also why do you believe the setting was too low?

It's all on how you hit it. Match that with strength, and it can be done in 3. You don't need to be an athlete.
@@ViperVideo I agree - Go get a 6’6”, 250# lumberjack who’s been swinging an axe for 20 years, and Yes, then it can be done in 3.

Yep automatic DQ negates entire time and failed

under 10 mins you pass
How long do you have to stay on the stair master

That’s the warm up 20 seconds you are allowed to touch the rails until those 20 seconds are up
