In the 1980's I caught a flounder near the warm water discharge of the Edison plant on the Saint Clair river in the spring jigging for walleyes. It was probably discharged from the ballast of an ocean going ship. I contacted the local conservation officer and a fish biologist. They had never heard of anything like that before.

Wipers more than likely come from angers in Michigan stocking them at midnight. Super cool considering they likely go over Niagara Falls. MNR says the Nuke plant and bluffers park is also becoming a hot spot for sturgeon ;)

Ever fish Sackets Harbor Lake Ontario, or are u in Canada. I caught a 17.5 in crappie there one year ice fishing. It was awesome and the biggest one I've ever caught.

I love catching wiper, only caught a handful in my life, biggest was actually a 31” 18lber, throwing a 3/8oz blade bait fishing for walleye, shallow water and I had super light line. 8lb mono

There still is some good musky fishing if you troll the right depth in long point bay. Not the inner Bay, seems like they like the deeper water.
