Been on the fence about this interface for the past few months! Seen plenty of reviews, but yours was the only one I value. And I ve been waiting the past few weeks for your input. You’re a str8 shooter and tell it how it is! Great review and thank you! Mind is finally made up!
Glad to hear that! Especially since the DC offset issue has been resolved!
Thanks for this review Barry! I have been watching this interface since it was launched since I have lots of synths and drum machines.
Just discovered this on Sweetwater last night! Lol😂 the timing!!
Good review Barry. This one might fit my home studio perfectly. I use a Panasonic RAMSA DA-7 console with typically 14-16 channels (currently) of vintage mic preamps, analog synth modules, instrument preamps, FX units).
I ordered this a few days ago to replace my Focusrite Clarett 8 OctPre+, I look forward to it eagerly
Very well done!
Thanks for the review!
I’ve been so close to buying this interface over the past couple weeks. The Motu 828 (2024) seems to be edging it out with very similar features but with spdif and lower latency.
I currently have the Audiofuse Studio (8in/6out) that I have been generally very happy with I have a linux-based setup and dont like to rely on software controlled interfaces since changing OS is cumbersome. My upgrade path was going to be the cranborne audio 500 ADAT to extend the I/O by 8/8 plus some 500 series slots, but once this got on my radar I am thinking of setting the audiofuse as the extension/monitor controller with the 16Rig becoming the new brain of the operation. I generally only record myself, but I like being able to have everything plugged in so I can get up and running as fast as possible. Thanks for the great review as always, Barry! My wallet has you to blame 😂
This seems like a great interface. However, when it came out, Julian Krause noted that it had a noticeable issue with DC offset. Has that been resolved by this point?
From everything I gather it was corrected on Rev 2 which is the unit I showed.
@@BarryJohnsAmazing. Thank you for the timely response!
I have it. It's great. But there are issues. a little buggy with the software and interface itself
I didn’t experience any issues. Hum.
What do you think of the new presonus quantum HD8?
I’ve not checked that out yet, send them an email asking them to send me one.
Thanks for tho info Barry! I appreciate you! To me I think these companies don’t think about professional studios and comercial workflow! Besides spidif I would like to see one version of this interface with db-25 connectors, and to me this Adat is BS, because that means I need another interface like 1k. No thanks! I’m honestly waiting for UA to put out their new version of the Apollo, with better conversion, higher dinâmic range etc. I need 32 I/Os with physical connection
Hey Barry, would you take this over a Pulse 16 ? am asking as for the same price point, same number of Line inputs, more flexibility and features, same converters quality from what you said ? I'm just wondering, why one will get a Pulse 16 over this ?
In my context, I have the Pulse 16 and the routing is super limited as you know, so a pacth bay is necessary. But this interface could be a perfect patch bay + Pulse 16 replacement ? am I missing something ?
Yes it can.
thanks for your feedback. So do you plan to switch yours to this ?
Gteat review.
Is it better than the ferrofish pulse 16?
The Ferrofish Pulse 16 isn't an audio interface.
I talk about this in the video.
@@BarryJohns my bad. I had not reach that part of the video yet
@@chrisscott7092 thank you👍
My only hesitation with buying an Arturia interface is they don’t have a long history of making interfaces so it’s hard to predict how long they would support them. Same with the newer Neumann MT48. Only time will tell! I’m leaning towards MOTU
Only thing I’ll say about the MOTU is that it overdue for a refresh.
MOTU has a history of bad drivers. Owned a 828mk3 and a midi express. Found it time consuming to be troubleshooting all the time. Never had any problems when i switched to RME.
@@BarryJohns fair enough! I’m looking at their new 828 but the whole line is overdue
@@Gauddus good to know! On windows or Mac? I am torn between an RME interface or the new Motu 828 - I like that it has 10 analog ins and outs (and it’s half the price ;)
They lost me with the orange rack ears😭
It’s an option you would not put on if racked, it’s actually quite handy.
No SPDIF, no deal.
People with a bunch of Synths Don't care about SPDIF
most of the guitar players need a spdif input because we want to purchase a fractal which has spdif outputs.
That’s one for sure, I’ve used it for a few other things. I had to buy an AES to SDIF adapter to connect my Kemper on my RME
