Thanks for the vid. The trick here is to do the passenger side (right) first - or at least separately - using the AC compressor as a jacking point. This will make the engine go high enough to get clearance to insert the new mount. Make sure to remove the cover between the back on the engine and the firewall (that covers the blower motor) to not damage it when tilting the engine.
That bracket removal tip is great !!! Just did this on jack stands, was honestly easier than the driver side, not sure why 😂 Additionally, on the 2006, there is that extra plumbing on top of the intake manifold, had to remove cabin filter housing to give it more room when raising the engine.
Nice video Gareth. I need to do this replacement in the near future on my E46. Thanks for posting it. Looks like you have lost some weight. Good Job...Greetings from that Old Jarhead in WNC. Wishing you & all a joyful & Christ filled Christmas
Gareth, thank you for the fine instructional vid. My '04 M3 engine / tranny / exhaust (?) is just recently starting to vibrate (mild shudder) a bit when drifting going downhill, gas off, 2nd -3rd gear, 1800-2500RPM range. 95K miles. Engine / tranny mounts and / or exhaust hangers could be the reason. Any guesses as to where I should start? Ha! Thanks again.
Much easier to use an engine brace from above - it is installed in 5 min - disconnect the steering link, hydrobushings and drop the subframe. That way you avoid the tilt issue and fiddly bit of fitting the mounts with little space....
Hey Gareth, my chassis mounted shifter is tilted towards the passenger side... no slop, but it doesn't sit straight in neutral. I have new poly trans mounts installed. Could engine mounts cause this slight "rotation" of the shifter assembly?
@@fcpeuro i did the job the last weekend without the removal of the lines 🫡 now my oil pan is not resting at the front stabilizer any more… I replaced the right engine mount bracket too as it was broken🤷♂️
Poly is not an upgrade. There are vibrations regardless of what anyone says. Going from a rubber vibration absorbing mount to a poly solid doesn't absorb any vibration is simply stupid. Poly is for track use only not for a car that is a daily driver...

Another great video! Great job guys!!
That hoodie is straight 🔥🔥🔥. I'd definitely pick one up if they were for sale.
Nice learning video on BMW, it’s the reason why it a lot to maintain. I have a certificate in auto mechanics and I enjoy learning new things, thanks.

You have it in the wrong way. Double check everything and there installation process
Did you remove steering lines from steering rack?? Where you put the piece of wood I have a pair of steering hydraulic lines…
No removal of the lines!

Would knackered engine mounts on an M3 cause the exhaust to sag and sit on the classis braces?
It can certainly help that. Along with checking the mounts, an additional recommended check would be to inspect the hangers at the same time.

Can these motor mounts be used with any e46?
We have quite a few kits available for most E46 variants, including these mounts.
Need you guys to sell these hoodies again.
Currently working on a whole line right now!
Has Gareth lose weight?
yes
