I bought two Anker Soundcore 1 speakers, both purchased in 2019 months apart from each other. I am disappointed to say that I think they use cheaper parts for this model now. Everything about the 2nd one I bought is worse than the 1st one. Battery life on my 1st Soundcore is insanely good, way better than their advertised 24 hours. It's easily over double the amount advertised, even now after 4 years of use! The 2nd Soundcore battery is much weaker though, but is as advertised so I shouldn't complain.......but man, that battery life on my original is insane and it's hard accepting such weak batterly life on the 2nd one. Another thing I have noticed is that the 2nd Soundcore 1 goes into sleep mode after not detecting sound for 5 seconds. This is bad, because once it detects sound again, it won't actually start playing sound back instantly, it needs to wake up again. This can be annoying when listening to songs because most songs have a 5 second gap between finishing and playing the next track. Bluetooth is worse on my 2nd Soundcore 1 too. It's out of sync with video playback. You usually expect some delay with Bluetooth, but my original doesn't have this issue. I think I got lucky and purchased one of the last of the original Soundcord 1 models before they were replaced with the much inferior version. I used a Soundcore 2 for a while and found it to be awful. Bass is terrible, connecting through aux had delay with video playback, and the sound kept cracking at higher volumes, I sent it back. I bought a Soundcore 3 the other day, it's really not all that different from the Soundcore 2, apart from the fact that it works as it should. Still, battery life and bluetooth connection doesn't compare to my original Soundcore 1.
Interesting! I first bought the 2 refurbished and loved it. I didn't notice the 5 second delay with RUclips songs. Although the mouth and voice was slightly off not bad enough to really bug me. I just accidentally dropped my first 2nd gen one too many times so I bought a 1st gen by accident and am charging it now. Hopefully it is better that would actually be nice since I figured I down graded. For $22 factory refurbished it's worth a shot. I loved my 2nd gen but the bass definitely wasn't as much as my battery thirsty 808. That's two different animals though really. That 808 could thump😂. Thanks for your review!!!!!
Can we just take the time to appreciate this guy's effort to cover everything about these two speakers! Thank you so much for this video as I have been on the search for a very affordable and very portable Bluetooth speaker, and I must say that the Soundcore 2 has got my finger on the trigger tempted to confirm my purchase for 2 of them so that I can pair them as I learned while looking into the Soundcore 2 specifically.🤔 I will let you know if I made the purchase and get back to ya on how I feel about the sound quality 🙂 Once again thank you for a very informative review on these two great speakers! you've definitely earned my like, share, and sub 👍🏼
wow, thank you so much. I try to cover everything that normal consumers are interested in but I still feel like I miss things. I guess that is where the comment section comes in handy!
@@techfulgoodiesyou did great! Btw I ordered two Anker SoundCore 2's the same day I left the comment on your video, and received it yesterday so as for shipping and delivery, it was FAST! now I decided to just test one speaker first before having fun with the duo pairing option, and I must say what kind of sorcery is this lol! Like seriously are you kidding me I purchased mine for $29.99 and so for two I paid a total of $60 which in my opinion is a steal especially considering the sound quality this little guy pumps out, and not to mention the battery life! Brother I have not yet charged it since I received it yesterday afternoon and am still bumping music at 70 percent volume, listening to podcasts, and even taking a few calls, and my oh my is this thing a treat to use and have, I am in love with my two SoundCore 2 speakers, I haven't had the chance to test out the durability of them yet but I can surely say that the feel in hand feels great and durable when it comes to the build quality👌🏼 Okay now let's get to the fun stuff! The pairing of the two speakers. I first tested it out on my laptop and played the avengers and wow the sound it delivered with the two of them paired was absolutely amazing! Sounded like a mini theater in my studio, the bass was not movie theater ready but definitely enough to hear the detail in the low end. As for music when it comes to pairing, again amazing sound reproduction especially when spreading them out far enough to get that surround sound, and it's great when listening to live instrumental music👌🏼 All in all the Anker SoundCore 2 is a must have when it comes to the attention to quality and features this thing has and not to mention the price! So thank you once again for your solid review as your review specifically was the reason why I decided to confirm my purchase on Amazon. So if you're someone looking for an above average sound quality and very portable Bluetooth speaker that's water resistant with rugged and durable build, look no further and take it from me that when I say BUY IT! Then go ahead and make that purchase my friend as you will be very happy and satisfied that you did👍🏼 Y'all be safe out there, be blessed, and much love.🙏🏼
@@KingdomWithin7 Love this!! I'm glad you're as happy as I was. Every time I pull out this speaker my friends are like "when did you charge it last" lol! You definitely hit it on the head - not movie theater quality bass but for a medium size setup, these are magic. Thanks again for the support!
Thank you I’m new to this, received the ANKER SoundCore 2 as a Christmas gift, searched internet found you. The generic food out instructions that come in the box, are a tad confusing to a newbie like me. But thanks again for your presentation..
Get the soundcore boost and use the app to adjust the EQ plus the bass up button. It will rock you with rich bass semi deep too. For a small speaker it’s got punch and definitely hits above its weight class. Try the Alan Ross setting with bass up and you’ll be pleasantly surprised!
I forgot to say , just make sure it’s an updated version soundcore boost! Don’t get the original version, it had some distortion issues… only the updated to present versions.
Wow thanks for the great review. I will be moving to a small efficiency, so a small bluetooth is what I wanted. Your point about the SC2 has a bit better bass and thus a bit less battery life is GREAT! I am getting the 2 because of that tradeoff :)
I have not fully submerged an anchor Bluetooth speaker and I haven’t actually owned one yet and I do believe that JBLs are IPX 17 or are they IPX seven something like that quite high waterproof rating
Yes, the speakers have an auxiliary (aux) port that you can plug into your computer. The cable has what looks like a standard headphone jack on both sides.
I've had 3 Soundcore 1 and like the poster below I found the last 2, purchased in March 2021 were worse than the one I got a couple of years earlier. The first from 2018 lasted a lot longer than those bought in 2021. I was still pleased with the sound quality but they only lasted a few months before similar issues with a button not working. The auto shutoff when quiet for a few seconds and coming back on late meaning you miss the first few notes of a song was an annoing feature of all three speakers. I think they are overpriced now, unless quality has improved.
I've just tested the Soundcore 2 against the new Soundcore Boost. Yes, the new "Boost" speaker has a fuller sound with wider capability for rendering superb music and vocals. However, that's at the expense of halving the battery life, with the Soundcore 2 rated at 24 hours and the Soundcore Boost down to 12 hours. What is curious, however, is that the older Soundcore 2 gives a noticeably more pleasant rendering of narrator's voices if I'm playing audio books. So, as my main use of my Bluetooth speaker is in playing Audible audio books, the Soundcore 2 wins over the Soundcore Boost in terms of price, battery life, and voice quality rendition*. *that's voice of a narrator and not a singer, which the Boost handled better.

Nice review. I bought a Soundcore 2 a few weeks ago to use with my laptop which has horrible built in speakers. I have had a similar experience to you. I honestly can't understand how Anker can produce such a high quality device at such a low price point. For its size and cost, the Soundcore 2 produces unexpectedly high quality sound. Also, as you said, the build quality and battery life are amazingly good. I am considering getting a second Soundcore 2 for use as a stereo pair. I do wonder how convenient they are to use in this mode. Like do you have to reconnect them every time they power on or do they remember and stay linked? If anyone has experience using them as a stereo pair, I would love to hear their thoughts on how easily and how well they work in this mode.
I have not tied using 2 as a pair...usually blueetooth is too much of a hassle for that for me but hopefully someone has! Great update, glad you had the same good experience as me...it was my first Anker product and I became a huge fan after that.
